👋 Melburnian here and I love living here … however, I can’t wait for our Winter to be over every year. Before Covid we would drive north to the Sunshine State of Queensland to escape the worst of the cold weather. It doesn’t snow in Melbourne, but we have to cope with the Antarctic vortex which pushes cold air up from the southern ocean for three to four months of the year. It can be brilliant sunshine and them it is wet, windy and raining. As a family we went to the snow fields once around 45 years ago .. once was enough and I prefer snow on Christmas cards. I think you would love Melbourne in Summer because it is hot and dry, but prefer our northern States in our Winter which is their Dry season. The Norther Territory, northern Queensland and WA only have two seasons, Wet or Dry and the Wet season has cyclones and the wet is hot, damp, and on occasion suffers wild and wooly weather. Sydney to the Gold Coast/Brisbane has probably the most temperate liveable climate all year round. I flew into Sydney once in Winter for business and the taxi driver was wearing shorts … enough said? Still Melbourne may arguably have the best coffee “culture” but honestly it is hard to get a bad cup of coffee anywhere in Australia and Australians, no matter where you travel are a friendly, welcoming, accepting people … but like she said, there are always exceptions, so trust your intuition around strangers.

G'day Mate! One thing not mentioned is that for fine dining Melbourne is the best place in Australia...Apart form the Arts scene everything else is also applicable to Adelaide or Sydney which have a huge advantage over Melbourne's appalling weather...Miserably cold for about 7 months and in summer can be hotter than Sydney, That said Canberra has the worst weather in all of OZ Cheers!

As some one who’s lived in Massachusetts for half their life, and alo UK, I’m always frustrated by claims Melbourne has miserable winter weather. When it rains, it’s usually only part of the day. The cold is above freezing, all you need is proper clothing. I don’t even own a proper coat here. The public gardens are stunning now, as is the bushland and ppls gardens- so much comes into bloom for the cooler months. Also no way is it 7 months long! I do agree summer is too hot, but at least it’s not as sticky humid as it is further north! Anyway, I write this on a bright sunny 10c day, in my down vest and thermals (coz the insulation in old houses is non-existent and boy does that suck,)

Is anyone else having trouble hearing DTN talking at times? The video playing is fine but the commentary volume seems to fade in and out.
If you try a flat white or any Aussie coffee you might need to add some sugar or honey because it's espresso based and probably strong to the new/non drinker. Or try a mocha which has chocolate flavour / undertones.

Why Sydney Melbourne Queensland get most of visitors more population
So more of everything and market to tourists more as have bigger budgets

Melbourne is a beautiful city, and I love her, but I'm considering leaving here temporarily with all of this economic turmoil we can't get free of down under. I would love to come back when things are settled, but I've had a gutful of the housing crisis and affordability crisis and would like a break by living in America for a few years.
