Another great episode. When learning anything new, you learn as much from your mistakes as you do from your success. I always say, I never make the same mistake twice, I always come up with a new one, lol.
Great videos!! I'm glad I found someone new to CNC like me so I can actually learn some lessons along the way. Neck still looks great! I actually like the final result. Not perfect, no, but what in life ever is. Keep it up.
You're not the first to have this happen. I can vouch for that 😂. We don't learn if we don't make mistakes. Glad to see you're not one of the "purists" and embraced the CNC.
Yeah it was a bummer for sure. An excellent learning experience! I actually milled off the headstock plate and replaced it. I just couldn’t stand looking at it.
thanks for the video!! hoping i find the video where you profile the back of the neck. Im thinking you use a molding toolpath.. trying to find all the info i can on profiling tool paths 2.5D so i can use Vcarve pro.
It's a shame about the burn spots. One thing you could do would be to mill off the head stock plate and glue on a new one. Will you also need to mill the truss rod channel a bit deeper sense you are going to resurface the top of the neck blank? As long as we learn from out mistakes then it is not really a failure.
That is exactly what I did. I just couldn’t stand looking at those spots anymore 😁 and yes I took off about .003 off the neck surface so I still need to deepen the truss Rod slot with a round chisel.
Very helpful and thoughtfully explained. Thanks for sharing
Love how you handle hick-ups. I'm shure that in the end nobody will see it. It actually helps us to not make a mistake like this one. Great Job!
We live, we learn.
Publicising the screw-ups helps everyone. Applause for that.

Have the same machine and just starting using the Tile feature. Really extends the reach.

it's great following along and hearing your thoughts process as you learn to use this machine.
Thanks Dave. It’s been a challenge but also great fun!

Good video, when I make a mistake like you described, I tell my wife when I go in I had another humbling experience today in the shop...bummer

Yeah that was embarrassing I didn’t even think about that ! But a very good learning experience!
Sorry I missed this & the 2 following, busy messing with a computer.
Reverse Schecter headstock?
what C.A. glue are you using just one line down the middle of one piece of tape
I use starbond. Medium.
Now I see, this happens to the pro too
How much is a cnc machine. I’m still using the old fashion way. A pocket knife 😂. Table saw. Router. Band saw etc. in the year 2525.
Товарищ, это трэш так делать грифы)))

Not sure how you did that kind of job with no cnc experience prior to??
