- RyanAir uses Bergamo as a hub for Milan, but rather than take the 1 hour bus to Milan, we stayed in Bergamo to explore. We only had 12 hours, but we made the most of it!
This is day 7 of our 11-day trip through Europe. Make sure you subscribe to see all the vlogs as we post them.

Our Gear:
Canon G7X Mark II: amzn.to/2nDh9UH (it’s amazing and basically sees in the dark)
Canon G7X: amzn.to/2mMmPrd (the original is almost as good, but less expensive)
Joby Gorillapod: amzn.to/2n6m92y (fantastic versatile bendy tripod - this is the slightly smaller “action” version that’s easier to travel with and comes with a mount for a camera and a gopro)
Macbook Air: amzn.to/2n6rPtc (we edit everything on Final Cut Pro on a Macbook Air, which is light and easy to travel with)
External Hard Drive: amzn.to/2nD6o4F (the videos are a little too big for the macbook air to handle, so I edit everything off an external hard drive)

I was born in Bergamo and live in Bergamo. It's the best Bergamo video ever! Thanks you ^__^ .
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us. We love your beautiful town and we hope we can visit again soon. :) -Brian
making a video about bergamo and then you go to brescia.
Its not a good idea 🤔

there are far better ones

Thank you so much, Simone. We really loved exploring your city. Can't wait to return and see more of it. -Brian
@@PerfectLittlePlanet and if you'll return, I'd love to be your guide :)

Italia is fantastic...wherever you go. Thank you for sharing your experiences and being so cute.
You're welcome! We love Italy too! We keep going back because we can't get enough of it. Thanks for watching. :) -Brian
Mayra Villamar I would rethink what you typed in your comment now
6:03 this bell ring 100 times every night at 10pm this because in Medieval Times, Città Alta's Gates (the fortified city) were close until the morning so, once u were hearing 100 bells tolling you had 30 mins to get safe inside Città Alta walls.
Oh that's really interesting! Thanks for sharing.
I'm from Bergamo. I'm happy you like this city.
We loved it! It must be so nice to live there. -Brian
The basilica was so incredibly beautiful that i literally bursted into the tears... Thank you guys, I'm definitely must visit this amazing city...Just fell in love with by watching couple of minutes.. One day soon I'll be there 🎉
I hope you can visit it sometime because if the basilica in this video had you in tears, the basilica in real life will transform you. It's just spectacular. Thanks so much for watching! -Brian

My prayers to all Northern Italy, so special cities, like Bergamo and Brescia are thorn apart. Vinciamo, l'Italia 🇮🇹❤️
Yes, it's so sad and heart-wrenching what is happening in Northern Italy right now. :(
What a beautiful vlog, so many cool things and delicious snacks 😁
Haha, yes. Everything in Italy is cool and delicious. :) Thanks for stopping by! -Brian
I was just in Bergamo and Milan last month. Such beautiful cities and the food is unbelievable 💗
Yes! We love both Bergamo and Milan. Glad you were able to experience them for yourself. -Brian
I live in Bergamo and thanks for comming here ❤❤
We loved visiting your town! Thanks for making it such a wonderful city! -Brian
Thank you for a lovely walk and keeping a smile throuhgout the long and tiresome day
You're welcome! Exploring new places gives us energy, so we definitely enjoy every minute of it. :) Thanks for watching! -Brian
Arancini in Bergamo? Then you should try polenta when you go to Palermo!
To be fair, I've had arancini in Palermo, as well. I know it's a lot better down there, but I'll take what I can get when we're in Northern Italy. :)
Great video! Bergamo is very beautiful. I love it :')
Thank you! We love it too. :) Have a great day! -Brian
What a beautiful city to visit. It was everything I expected but with a lot, lot more. I had just experienced the passing of my 2 year old baby and it helped me with the greasing process. I will be back there very soon.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine what that would be like. But I can imagine that a trip to Italy would help. I'm happy you had a great experience in Bergamo. Wishing you many more happy moments. -Brian
Beautiful Bergamo! I love this city so much!
Same. We had such a great time visiting!
Bellissimo questo video bellissima Bergamo bravissimi grazie è la mia città 💓💓💓💓💓
Sì! Amiamo Bergamo. Non vedo l'ora di tornarci.
Thank you for that video! Very inspiring.
You're welcome! So happy to share our experience in such a great city. -Brian
I really enjoy your videos! I live in Vancouver and go to the best place in the city for Gelato. Why? The Gelato master is from Bergamo! I loved all the churches and duomo and the great food and transportation tips. Plus... it is so great to see the two of you travelling together and demonstrating the glory of Italy,
Thank you JoAnne, glad you enjoyed the video and happy you love Italy, since we're going back there tomorrow! More videos from Rome and Naples to come soon. :) -Brian
My wife and I are planning a short trip to this region and trying to decide what we do. Your video is really helpful and pushing us towards Bergamo!
Bergamo has a lot of charm! It's definitely a nice stop-over or a place to spend a day or two. We continue to go back to Italy because we enjoy all the options of places to go. We return to places we love and then find new, smaller cities and town to visit also. Wherever you end up, you'll have a great time!! Let us know if you have any questions! -Isa
Was there in 2016 and had a wonderful time. So much to see and do for people who love history and beauty. Hoping to go there in May 2018, if not later that year. Food, fantastic.
Yes! We loved the food. Excited for you to go back! Hope you have a great time! -Brian
It looks like a beautiful city by this video lol... Great job man thnks for have visited our town

Lovely video... we're headed there tomorrow and this was most useful. Cheers
Hope you have fun! We loved Bergamo. :) -Brian
@@PerfectLittlePlanet thanks a ton Brian. Its absolutely wonderful. Many thanks for replying. 😁
Guys! You can't start the video of Bergamo with arancino which is tipical sicilian food!
That is a very good point! We were just so happy to see them! -Isa
Thanks from Bergamo.
Nice video 👍
Thank you for watching!
Thank you both great video.
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching! -Brian
Old town and Città Alta (upper town) are the same! Bergamo is divided in upper town and lower town!
Whoops! Thanks for the correction. -Brian
un vero capolavoro S. M. Maggiore, una delle splendide Basiliche d'Italia.

Very nive video !!!and very clear picture, what kind of camera do you use? I am about to visit Berghamo on Sanday and deifinitely will follow your tips. Subbed already!
Thanks! We use a Canon G7X Mark II. If you want to check it out, we put links in the description of the video for all our gear. Have fun in Bergamo!! We loved it. :) -Brian
Beautiful city! Which month were you there? looks perfect!
We were there mid-February. It was a little chilly, but yes it was a great day. :) -Brian
Nice video! I'll fly to Lisbon from Bergamo very soon and I'm gonna have around 7 hours at Bergamo (before my flight). Could I complete a visit to 'Città Alta' in that timelapse? Maybe going to the Castle is too much... (I don't want to lose my flight!) Regards! :)
You have plenty of time to go to Città Alta. If you take Bus 1 from the airport, it goes to the funicular station (after stopping at the train station). You can ride the funicular up to Città Alta from there, or stay on the bus and it goes up to Città Alta also. It should only take about 30-45 minutes to get there, so you'll still have about 4 hours to explore and get back in time for your next flight. -Brian
Love vlogs of Bergamo, Verona, Venice & Milan. OMG I would have to see Venice during carnival but not crazy about the crows.
I'll be going to Milan in Sept. for 6 nights, 2 nights will be in Venice.
Now that I've seen your vlogs I'll be making a day trip to Verona and maybe Bergamo. I'll be taking the train from Milan to Verona & Venice any tips?
Should I booked the train ticket in advance or just purchase it on the travel day? Any kind of travel card I should get while in Milan?
I see that your vlog for Milan short, any other suggestion as to what to see & do there?
Thank you!
You don't need to buy train tickets in advance. It's easier to do at the train station in Milan than it is online. Look for trains marked, "Regionale," not "Frecciarossa" (Frecciarossa are faster but more expensive). If you're staying in Milan for a few days, definitely look into the MilanoCard. It offers free travel on the metro and buses plus gets you free/discounted admission into pretty much everything in Milan, and it's relatively cheap (I think 19 Euro for 3 days). If you just want to get around and see free stuff, just buy a day pass on the metro, it's only 4.50, so riding it three times pays for itself.
Check out Isa's vlog on Milan. She went on a girls' trip last year and they did more stuff. ruclips.net/video/GTKjb1iLZ6I/видео.html
Have fun! -Brian
I was thinking about the MilanoCard but I don't think I'll be around enough to use it so I just might buy a day pass on the metro instead since I plan to do a few day trip to other city.
Thanks again Brian.
There is also a 1-day MilanoCard for 7 Euro. Since the 1-day metro pass is already 4.50, check to see if the MilanoCard will give you discounts worth more than 2.50 for one of the things you plan on doing, then it'll be worth it. Have fun! -Brian
Lol I also go to Bergamo and Brescia 😍
Great places! I feel like they don't get the love they deserve because Milan and Venice are so amazing.
My lovely beautiful city
Such a beautiful place. We can't wait to come visit again.
Ah Berghem the beautiful
I haven't seen it written as Berghem before. What language is that in?
@@PerfectLittlePlanet"Bergamasco": local dialect.
Very nice :)
Yes. Such a great place to visit.
im going to bergamo next week, and im staying just a couple of hours like you before heading to milan... which places do you think are a must visit?!
Take the funicular up to Citta Alta for sure. Check out the churches and go up the bell tower for the view. That should take up a few hours and it'll be well worth the visit. Have fun! -Brian
love it
Thank you! :) -Brian
Just back from Pisa, took a day in Florence. Loved it.
Now i’ve got this urge to see more of Italy via train.
Next year I’m thinking to fly to Genoa, then take the train and go to Turin, Milan (now thinking Bergamo instead), Bologna, Verona and finally Venice. 2 days in each place.
Sounds like an amazing trip! We haven't been to Turin, but the rest of the places you mentioned are all great. Let us know if you have any questions as you continue to plan. -Brian
Hi. I will come in Milan for the first time and I’m looking for a place to stay, but close to the Bergamo Airport and with a lower price.
Any advice?
I would suggest looking at Airbnb. There are some amazing places in Bergamo for very good prices. If you've never stayed in an Airbnb before, let me know and I'll give you some tips. -Brian
Cool
We thought so too.
Was the 24hr ticket worth it to you guys? If so where did you purchase it? My husband and I are only spending a day in Bergamo (basically following your video-Thanks for sharing BTW) and then heading to Venice for a day. Love all of your videos!
Thanks so much, and yes, it's totally worth it. The 24-hr ticket is only 5 euro. A single ticket on the airport bus is 2.30, and any bus or funicular ride after that is 1.30. On our little visit, we rode the funicular once, plus three buses. So it more than paid for itself and it was really convenient and easy. Have so much fun guys! Let us know if you have any questions about Venice too. We love it there! -Brian
Where did you purchase the ticket?
Oh right. In the airport, after you leave customs and security and you're in the main terminal, look for a counter to your left. I can't remember if it says "airport bus" or ATB but you should see it. Just ask if they sell the 24-hr ticket. They all speak English in the airport.
Yay thank you so much!
Train station, too! Weel either in the station or just outside, where there is the bus terminal.
It's gonna be fine Italians we are praying for you #coronaawayfromitaly
Yes, it's terrible and awful right now, but we'll come together as a global community and rebuild after this is done. -Brian
Visiting Bergamo next week, loved this video! Where is the park you were at at 1:35?
it's the "orto botanico"
It's a small, hidden park called Parco Caprotti. We didn't know about it, but it just happened to be between the bus stop and our Airbnb. -Brian
@@giovannilanfranchi2260 We actually didn't get to visit the Orto Botanico. Have you been? I bet it's beautiful. -Brian
@@PerfectLittlePlanet Thanks so much Brian! Great video!
You're welcome. Hope you have fun on your visit!
Hey - wheres the info on your B&B you stayed in while in Bergamo?
We stayed at the Donizetti Royal and booked it through Hotels.com. Here's a link: www.hotels.com/ho561138/

I’m visiting Bergamo next month. Any advice from local
We're not local. We just spent half a day there. Our best advice is to get the 24-hour card so you can use all the public transportation and see everything easily. -Brian
What do you want to know? I'm from Bergamo =)
3:54 I sung in a concert there
Oh wow, that must have been amazing! Were you on a tour of Europe? -Brian
in which hotel do you stayed in?!
We stayed in a B&B called Donizetti Royal. It had a kitchen and a large, shared, living space. More like an Airbnb than a hotel, but we enjoyed it! -Isa

Unfortunately, we haven't been to Croatia yet, and in Spain only a few days in Barcelona (which is amazing, so go there if you have a chance). We're trying to plan a month-long trip around Spain some time soon though, so we'll see if we can make that work. :) -Brian

Stai messo male se mangi gli arancini a bergamo
Haha, è meglio degli arancini negli Stati Uniti. Dov'è il miglior arancino?
Perfect Little Planet hahaha man trust me, eat arancini in sicily if you pass by there. You’ll get the best arancino ever
100% agree. Sicily is actually the first place I ever saw arancini and I could not eat enough of it. I've never found it anywhere as good as that first one I ate in the little hilltop town of Erice. SOOOoooo gooood.
I came here because of Coronavirus
So sad what's happening in Northern Italy right now. :(
Ma l'arancione prendilo in Sicilia....
Sì, è meglio in Sicilia. Ma prenderò quello che posso ottenere. :)
