All the things you have listed are true: we have ignored our personal relationship with a Holy God, and allowed an amoral government to take His place. It is just a little too late to expect that our change now can avoid the judgment of God. Jugdment cannot be avoided, and that judgment will fulfill prophecy, just as God promised.

Religion is declining rapidly world wide. Especially in first world countries. That should just about answer the question. The ancient ways are ending in favor of a modern world.
