Thanks for the video and guide Jon! I'm using a gaming laptop, so one variation I did on your setup was to use a powered usb-C dock with 2 HDMI ports (I think it is the one you suggested for using the SteamDeck with ALP). I connect the dock to the 4KP with 2 very short HDMI cables (about 6 inches) and short OTG USB Cable (around 12"...shortest they had). I then use a 6-foot HDMI cable for the third HDMI connection and a USB-C extension cable (6 feet) to connect the dock to my laptop. This allows me to have just two cables to connect to my laptop...the cable to the USB-C doc and the 3rd HDMI cable, which plugs into the laptop's HDMI port. Easy to connect when I want to play, and easy to put the cables out of the way when not playing OTG. Got everything setup over the weekend and I was surprised at how responsive the FX tables were...much better than when I tried FX on my ALP HD. Ironically, I think Addams Family plays better through FX than it does natively on the 4KP.
Another excellent tutorial from Wagner's TechTalk. I already have OTG setup, but I watch anyway because I always pickup something new. SSF kit arrives today and can't wait to get it installed!
Thank you Danny! You're going to love the SSF kit, the stock tables really take it to the next level and sound amazing with it. After you get it installed, would be great to hear your thoughts on it!
Great video Jon! Very thorough and in-depth guide. ATGames should be the sponsor of all these Pinball videos! You are doing them a HUGE service with these detailed setup guides. You are a Legend Jon! Cheers!
Thanks again for all of your hard work in documenting the steps necessary to set these PC systems and software up. I was able to use your other related docs to configure Pinball Popper, FX3, and Pinball Arcade on my SteamDeck for use with the Pinball 4K machine. And it has worked very well so far. I will next be following these directions to configure a PC because the level of gameplay and graphics promise to be even better looking and playing. So thanks in advance for these instructions, links and videos.
Wagner, WOW! You are a pillar! These guides are going to help me SO MUCH and I can't wait to try them out! I, of course, have to get a PC to run it all, which I may opt for the one you got to make it easiest. I'm thinking around Christmas on getting one when more funds become available. But knowing I can come back here and everything is ready is FANTASTIC! Thank you so much for putting these guides together! vgv
LOL, thank you vgv and always welcome, my friend! Definitely shop around for the PC, by Christmas the one I chose may no longer be available or there may be even better options.
Amazing video, ive been waiting for this one. Definitely going to get this set up soon. If you could also make a video on VPX at some point it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all you do!
Thank you @H0otz, always welcome! I hope you find it helpful. I will definitely be making a video on VPX, but it will wait until after the Arcade Control Panel is working on the 4KP. To avoid using a keyboard, really need those extra buttons. But, it will happen and thank you again!
Hi Jon, I will be doing this shortly. and report on my finding on my spec 12900K, 3080Ti HP Omen 45L. I will say on the cable side I considered using the 3 Display Port connections to the ALP 4KP. The keys with the cables is make sure you get at Min 4K 60hz, I actually went with an 8k cable for the HDMI to playfield to be native, but they sell 4K 60Hz Display Port to HDMI.
Another great guide, thank you Jon! Easy to unterstand step-by-step tutorial. I love the extra sauce you get with your extra tips & tricks at the right places.
Thank you for your feedback! I definitely need to complete the VPX tutorial. It has been started, needs more work. In the meantime, this guide should help get you started: wagnerstechtalk.com/alpbi (created for ALP HD).
Yet again, another amazing video. Thank you so much! I'm so glad I bought the same computer you bought, it's going to make this setup process so much easier for a beginner like myself. I had a quick question, should I set up my Norton 360 virus guard before setting all this up, or will it block me from downloading xpadder and other downloads like the vpx tables? Just asking because I've heard some people say they had to deactivate their virus guard to download, then reactivate, did you run into this issue?... Thank you so much again for all the help and videos you support the community with, you have a very kind heart to take the time to show us the setup process. We greatly appreciate all you do.
Much appreciated Jason, it was quite a bit of work putting this together. I really appreciate your kind words and I hope you enjoy the new PC (I definitely am). I don't use Norton, I've never been a fan of it and it has caused issues for me in the past (just my experience, not bashing the product). I used Avast instead and have for many years, haven't had any issues with Avast on the new machine.
@WagnersTechTalk Thank you very much for the heads up. I will definitely look into that virus guard, as I've ran into a few hiccups with Norton on my laptop in the past, Thanks again for everything you do, looking foward to your next video on vpx in the future. You have a wonderful day.
Great video Wagner! I have the original ALP HD with the Buy stuff Backbox upgrade. I’m using a gaming laptop for Pinball FX. On my monitor display settings, I duplicate screens 1 & 2, so whatever is on my playfield is also on my laptop. Would you recommend not duplicating and making each monitor its own display? I’ve bee. Having some display issues and figured I would ask you, or anyone else what they recommend for laptop display settings.
If I had the BSA backbox upgrade, yes I would definitely utilize the DMD (not duplicated). I never wound up picking one up. Not sure what kind of issues you were having, you will need to arrange the displays in Windows and configure the display sizes. But, should be worth the time and effort to do.
Another outstanding video. Now, if you could only look into your crystal ball and tell me when the AFM will start shipping. Thanks again for all you are doing for the community.
Jon love the content. I very recently got my FX legends 4k Martian version. Love it. Just curious if a MAC with ZEN pinball can do the same as the PC setup? It's just HDMI output right? or is there something different with the format of the signal?
Thank you Ron and congrats on your Attack from Mars! I don't own a Mac so I'll honestly be no help there. However, please check out this thread, seems to be lots of good information there: www.reddit.com/r/virtualpinball/comments/15c793a/visual_pinball_standalone_macos_how/
Great video. I can see why teamviewer would be good 😮 Got this out my system. It looked nice, but i had serious flipper lag and the surround sound wasn't working. So either my computer isn't as fast as I thought it was, or need some more tweaking. Either way, I'll stick to waiting for game packs made for my machine that I don’t need to mess with 😏
Very welcome, thank you for watching! At this time, the solenoids can be set to fire wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Solenoids_Firing_in_OTG but haptics don't seem to do anything in OTG. I meant to add that to the written guide, so updated the purple bar at the top of the page. I'll also mention it to AtGames, don't think I already have.
Thanks for all the great work that you do!!! I'm having a problem with VPX and the sound turning off when trying different tables. This is on the 4K machine. I have to press the channel button and then start otg again to get the sound to work. I understand this could be a problem specifically with Nvidia cards. I've tried two different labtops both with different Nvidia cards and the problem persists. I can't believe with Nvidia being so popular other people aren't having the same problem. Can you recommend a fix or point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance!
Very welcome, and thank you for your kind comments! Not sure if this is related, but see if #6 here has any positive impact on the sound issue: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Troubleshooting
Lots of stuff going on here lately, I've not yet taken a look at it. Thanks for letting me know, I'll check it out when I can. I have the OTG PC being re-purposed for another project -temporarily.
Thanks so much, Jon! You've made this much easier for me as a total newb. Now that the OTG features are "out of beta," so to speak, are there any tips as to what adjustments on the PC might make the SSF a little more prominent? Of course, that might not be feasible; even the on-board tables aren't consistent, with SSF being much stronger on Zaccaria than on Gottlieb...
Awesome, glad this stuff has been helpful to you! For SSF, no not as of yet (or that I'm aware of). For button mapping, yes - see here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Built-in_Button_Mapping . Still testing the new firmware and finding things out. As major details are all figured out, I'll have a video out to show the important stuff.
I am finally looking at pinup popper, please do a guide video for this on the alp 4kp. I had alot of trouble just getting it installed and the controls are whacked with joy2key configuration files from the alp guide since the alp 4kp has control settings now otg, Id really like to get into the community tables soon on the alp 4kp!
Hi CarlO, I do plan on it. There have been some recent personal things that have transpired that I'm dealing with, at present. Hoping to get things sorted and create content more frequently.
Wagner, I finally got mine working. Can you recommend a good USB to HDMI adapter? My laptop does not have more than one video out and my type C ports don't support video. I read your guide but I didn't see a mention of one. Thank you! Also, last night I played without configuring VPX for buttons via OTG! Strangely, my left flipper decided to jump to left nudge after switching back and forth a few times. Audio also was cut off, so I had to switch back to pinball video > HDMI and it would kick back on. Strange problems, but still I was having a blast, from Creature to the Black Lagoon, Monster Bash, Avengers, Canada Dry, Guns 'n Roses.
The HDMI Adapter I purchased a few years ago was USB-A to x2 HDMI Outputs and has worked well. However, it's no longer available so I can't recommend it. I went looking, here's one around the same price and has good reviews: amzn.to/4bo63qd However, I've not personally tried it. One feature that is nice about this is that it supports USB-C and USB-A. Only use something like this for the backglass and DMD. The HDMI output from your laptop will be the playfield display. For the audio issue, see #6 here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Troubleshooting . It may not be exactly the same thing you're experiencing, but may be something to try. Hopefully some of the above will be helpful to you, sounds like you're just about there!
Thank you! Yes, Arcade games will be coming but I'll likely wait until the Arcade Control Panel (ACP) support is available. Waiting for that means I can make a more complete video.
If the solenoids are enabled prior to switching to OTG, yes they'll work. Haptics, yes (you can adjust them). You may find these mini tutorials helpful: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k/#Mini_Tutorials
Just read the updated instructions for mapping the Arcade Control panel since it works in OTG now. If you set the machine to Keyboard 1 as suggested, the plunger won’t work in VPX. The plunger uses ZAxis which is only available with the Gamepad option. Not sure if maybe you can do something with the custom keyboard option that will let you use the plunger as the ZAxis.
Interesting about VPX, I've not tested that yet. I was waiting for this firmware update to start the VPX guide. I have a few projects to wrap up, then I'll get started on it. Thank you for letting me know!
@@WagnersTechTalk Happy to do some testing with you. I’ve already got VPX running over OTG on the 4KP with just the standard control panel. I have an arcade control panel arriving Monday which I will install. Having an issue with the physical nudge in VPX but I think it’s just as setting I’m missing when co figuring nudge.
@@cwafflestx Thank you, there may be a bit of a delay on my end before I begin testing in VPX. Based on your reply, I've updated the button mapping section with a note: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Built-in_Button_Mapping until I can get to it. I definitely appreciate the help!
The profile could use some improvements when it comes to the Z-Axis for the plunger but it should be able to launch the ball fine with the plunger. I spent some time trying to make it a better, but if anyone makes further improvements, let me know.
Great video Jon! Some comments from my setup and a couple of questions: One of the weird things I ran into with getting Pinball FX setup was it would not display my DMD correctly. Everything was set the way it was supposed to be. No idea why it was not displaying. I ended up disabling Cabinet mode in Pinball FX, deleting the settings.ini file and then going through the steps again and that fixed it. Do you know why the backglass images don’t fill the whole screen in FX like they do in M! I’m guessing they need to be resized or something? Do you need the arcade control panel installed on the 4KP for VPX? When I was running VPX on my old gutted A1U it worked fine with the stock buttons plus 2 additional buttons I added. So just curious how you’re going to use the panel. I haven’t ordered it yet but I’m not opposed to getting it. Any idea off the top of your head if XPadder works with VPX? Previously I ran Joy2Key with my VPX setup. Thanks again for all you do for the community.
Thank you! I've not seen the issue you mention about the DMD positioning not working the first time, that's interesting. I may need to add that to the troubleshooting section. For the backglass images, it has to do with the artwork pack. Some show full-screen backglass images others seemed to be cropped a bit. I've not found a more up-to-date pack, it takes a lot of time to create all those images. If you find a better source of images, please let me know. The Arcade Control Panel with the additional buttons will be a big help. Not only for the additional buttons but for the trackball also. The trackball will allow you to use it as a mouse for hovering over an icon and the physical buttons for left + right-click. The Xpadder profile will work with VPX, I've tested it on my old machine but not yet on the new machine. Hope I answered all your questions, thank you for your kind feedback and great questions!
@@WagnersTechTalkThanks Jon! Also wanted to mention that I did have the laggy/stuck flipper issue initially but once I added the powered USB hub as mentioned in your instructions, it immediately resolved that issue! Looking forward the VPX guide and let me know how I can help with that. I dont know that I'll use the Arcade Control Panel as I have a mini keyboard/mouse combo that I use for VPX and it works well for me. :-)
@@cwafflestx Im finally setting up the otg usb cable and I do notice flipper lag that wasnt there when I used my wireless keyboard. Regarding FX3 vs FX and Pinball M, FX4 does fill the DMD and on FX it doesn't on most tables, as it mimics the size aspect ratio of the real machines, FX3 stretched them and Pinball M is showing video, ect on their DMD's so it looks full compared to FX. Back to the lag on flippers, I am going to check all the USB and other settings for power savings options and turn those off before buying a usb hub. Atgames needs to get otg and the control panel working soon, its a pain trying to map via steam and my joytokey file was setup for the control panel on my alp's..
@@WagnersTechTalkSo, I decided to upgrade my pinball PC today and took the same overkill approach as you but went with this one - www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-supreme-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i9-14900kf-32gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-super-12gb-1tb-ssd-white/6573345.p?skuId=6573345
Hi John, I'm trying to use my steam deck with the 4kP but I'm having issues connecting to the OTG. How to you get this working with the steam docking station?
I've not setup the Steam Deck on the 4KP at this point, primarily because I've added a dedicated PC to it. However, you should be able to use this guide to get it working: wagnerstechtalk.com/sd-alp . The main issue I see though is that the official Steam Deck dock only has two video output ports (HDMI and DisplayPort) - if I recall correctly. See the requirements section of the guide linked above for the hub I used (it has x2 HDMI and x1 Display Port) which should give you 3 displays. How well it will perform with 3 displays is unknown, however (I only tested with 2).
Hey Wagner, been quick question my pc is showing up by this weekend and I'm trying to get everything set for an easy install. I ordered 1 4k hdmi to hdmi cable and 2 hdmi to display port cables. My GPU has 1 hdmi and 2 display ports. Also what are you using for controls on vpx and vp tables? I will was told Joy to key will not work with vpx or vp tables. Thanks in advance I really appreciate you and your insight
I'm using xpadder for the button mapping, it's not a requirement you can use each pinball application mapping method but I prefer to have one single application that works for all. You can read more about it here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Button_Mapping with instructions.
Hi again Wagner, so I just got done setting up the same pc you purchased to pinball m and fx....only issue I have is the back glass for pinball FX only has dmd showing image doesn't have a backglass..the backglass is black and says /pinballFX/Mods/Cabnit/Table_150.png Now I'm not sure if this is normal because pinball M has all backglass and dmd working but not on FX, the dmd is working perfectly. Is this normal or did I not copy/paste the fx files correctly? Thanks in advance for all you do. This video was very step by step friendly and was extremely helpful!
Hi Jason, great news! The issue you're having is that FX/M doesn't include the backglass artwork so you'll see the name of the image that "should" be displayed until the artwork is copied over. The only thing missing is this step: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Backglass_Image_Setup . Those are the best artwork packs I've found (so far). Some will utilize the entire backglass display, others won't (just a heads up). Most look very good though.
@WagnersTechTalk awesome thank you so much for the great news and link. Besides that, everything is playing so amazing on this pc through the alp4k. I'm completely happy with both purchases. Your guidance has been very informative and helpful for a beginner like myself. Have a wonderful day!
Very welcome and happy to hear everything is playing amazingly well for you! I'll have more coming on the 4K, so I hope you find those future videos helpful too.
I cant seem to get anything to show on the correct cabinet screen. I have 4 screens, monitor, main playfield etc. I go into cabinet mode on pinball FX and I see on my pc screen it says ../../pinballfx/mods/cabinet/pfx.png with a black background. If I mouse over the application I can see the 3 windows but I cant open them on any screen to be able to drag them to the appropriate monitor. I have each monitor identified and in the correct order with all of them at the same height. What am I missing here?
I assume you're likely using a laptop. Make sure that everything is setup as shown here, BUT the laptop display (or 4th display) should be all the way to the right. Keep the Playfield display the main/primary display (far left). If you set it up this way, all the numbers shown in this video and on the written guide should match up. The missing artwork is an easy fix and documented here for reference: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Backglass_Image_Setup . Hope this helps!
@@WagnersTechTalk I hope you don't mind one more question, this one is about Xpadder. It does not see my table, I have the OTG plugged into a 2.0 spot and I have tried multiple spots. I also notice that the OTG part in the HDMI Input window on the table is grayed out. Maybe my cable is bad?
@@Mesockisgone OTG is greyed out because there is currently no other option. As long as it says OTG (which it does), just move down and select Start. In XPadder, you'll see in this video how to check and see if Xpadder is detecting the buttons. If it doesn't show any activity for the selected tab, try the other one (you'll see two). Once you locate the right one, just install the Xpadder profile and should be good to go.
I read the first bit and then your voice entered my head because you said exactly that in the video, I remember that now. The tab I see is a little magnifying glass and a game controller in Xpadder@@WagnersTechTalk
Most welcome! For FX3 backglass images, you can use the ALP HD guide which can be found here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alpfx3/#Software_Considerations . See the 3rd point for a link to the archive.
Hi...just got my 4k pinball machine..im using geforce 1660 super...that i had for my HD pinball..i setup pin up popper with correct screen order but the playfield displays really small..tried everything..is it the gpu ..are u able to use on 1080 resolution..or because i need a better gpu
Hey Jon! Guide was very helpful and easy to follow along with. I got Pinball M installed and the tables play but i have zero sound in Pinball M. I do have the SSF installed and it works perfectly outside of OTG. Any suggestions?
Thank you Scott! Give this a try: click the speaker icon in the lower-right on the taskbar, make sure the output device is set for your primary HDMI 1 (playfield). That should take care of it.
I tried the ROG Ally in this video: ruclips.net/video/q0e6_9R8s7U/видео.html but wasn't able to get 4K playing smoothly with Pinball FX. It may be possible and may revisit it at some point.
OK, time for another ignorant question. Is there any chance that the 4KP hardware as it exists today could support Direct Output Framework (DOF) for the haptics on the underside of the control panel over OTG? Would that require a second USB connection?
Hey Wagner, I'm having an issue with xpadder. When I shut down or reboot at the start of my boot cycle it will ask if I want install xpadder again. I have installed it a few times now and every time I reboot it asks to install. I click on the exe for xpadder on program files and it wants to install again.....ugh any help would be greatly appreciated
Try this, make sure the two files are loaded (.xpaddercontroller & .xpadderprofile). With the wrench in the upper-right (nearest the close button), make sure that 'Start with Windows (auto-minimized)' is checked and 'AutoOpen last used profile'. Click Ok. On the task bar, right-click the Xpadder icon and select close. Now reboot and it should start up automatically. It's starting up automatically here, if it's still not for you please let me know.
I have almost literally the same specs for my current "pinball pc" as one of those configs (intel arc 750 AMD Ryzen 5600G 32GB RAM Am using it for my HD version ALP untill my pre order of september 2024 will replace it (slow in europe) Hopefully it can handle 4k, but will upgrade the gpu otherwise that will be the bottleneck i guess. Great vid again! I used your ALP one last year to setup that pc for my ALP :) Thanks for the vids!
I do have an NVIDIA (3080) GPU, but I don't have an NVIDIA control panel in the tooltray. Instead, I have something called "GEFORCE EXPERIENCE," with several modes, but no detailed configuration settings. Are those settings available another way? Or just use the gaming mode?
It's likely installed. Click the Windows button and type NVIDIA and see if you see NVIDIA Control Panel. If not, check if any updates are available for it. I'm guessing it was likely removed from the startup.
@@WagnersTechTalk It is, thanks! I'm glad you're so patient. I'm a Mac person in real life, so it's not just the pinball software that's new to me, it's also dealing with the hundreds of Microsoft issues like inconsistent UI. It took me a month to troubleshoot that it was bad sectors in a completely empty SSD that was causing this PC to take an hour to start up and shut down.
Glad you got it! One of these days, I may need your patience when I pick up a Mac (never owned one). I've been debating for years if I should get one. May go for it next year, if the finances allow it. This old dog needs to learn a few new tricks lol.
An HDMI splitter will only take the one signal from the HDMI and repeat it across all HDMI outputs. What you need a 3 independent signals (playfield, backglass and DMD). See more details here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#The_Basics
I've personally not tried the steam deck with the 4kp. I don't think it will work for a 4K playfield. However, 1080p should be fine. It worked fine on the ALP HD in a two display arrangement.
Sure, you'll likely want the VIBS board for the Micro (different board than HD), you can find more details here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alpmicro/#VIBS_Board_Installation . Hope that helps!
@@WagnersTechTalk yes the information helps but i wont be able to use it since i cant get that VIBS Board in canada, they wont ship to canada and none of their listed resellers anywhere carry that board. oh well. thanks.
Xpadder is not finding any controller when it starts up so I cannot proceed with the next mapping step. I believe I have followed the instructions, have been working to resolve this myself for a couple of hours already.
Make sure the PC is connected to the black USB 2.0 port on the back of the 4KP (not the blue USB 3.x port). It should be able to see the controls. If that doesn't help please see #4 here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Troubleshooting
@@WagnersTechTalk The USB A cable is hooked up to the black port on the left side of the 4K, looking at it from the rear, and to the black USB port on the desktop. One more question I know I’m a pain but you are teaching me a lot -- I have a preinstalled ssf kit and I followed all directions but everytime I leave a program like going from fx to pinball m the sound goes out and I have to go back to atgames setting and restart ?? Any advice
You're definitely NOT a pain. I've not encountered this issue, but I think TampaTec did with FX3. A few questions for you: 1) Do you have a powered USB hub connected? 2) What GPU are you using? I personally do not have a powered USB hub connected, but I did test with/without one to see if there was any difference (I didn't notice anything). I'm using an RTX 4070 GPU.
@@WagnersTechTalk ok so I have a laptop with a i9 13 gen , 3080ti and 32 ram - HDMI to hdmi for playfield Powered docking station is the usb to usb Dmd Backglass
I was hoping we'd see something like powered hub being the solution, doesn't appear so. Some things you may have already tried: Make sure you have the latest Windows updates, if you refresh rate in NVIDIA Control Panel is set for 59Hz, try going back to 60Hz and see if that changes anything. Had a discussion with someone earlier today where that solved a similar issue. If any of this (or something else) fixes it, please let me know what it was.
Make sure they are arranged properly from left->right (playfield, backglass, DMD), scale set to 100%, etc. Basically, what's here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Windows_Display_Configuration

Heading into 2025 soon, what PC spec would you recommend for being able to play all the best virtual pinball machines...laptop preferred for me because of space restrictions. Thank you for any help!
I don't purchase laptops very often. The last laptop I purchased for OTG was this one: amzn.to/4eB39QJ . I used it for early testing of OTG on the ALP 4KP EVT model. Then, I decided to instead use it as my primary work/video editing laptop. I've since added a total of 64GB of RAM and two internal 4TB drives. It's a beast, I don't regret that purchase. Using the ASUS Armoury Crate software, you can balance out the performance (something I didn't realize in the early OTG video). I can only comment on machines I've used, this has performed very well for the past year. But, there are certainly cheaper options.
@@WagnersTechTalk awesome thank you, I do have one other mystery with xpadder, for some reason when playing M zen pinball the right flipper won't stay up when holding in the button. The left is fine, the flipper I know works right when not in PC mode.

Awesome, happy to hear it's all working well for you! Thank you for sharing your setup and experience.
Cheers!
LOL, thank you so much Mike! Have an awesome weekend my friend!
Jon, as an IT professional, I can attest that this is a WELL DONE howto video. You've outdone yourself yet again!
Thank you sir, I really appreciate your very kind comment!
Thanks so much for your kind comments, Dean. Great to hear that the Steam Deck info. was helpful and I hope this guide serves you well too.
Wagner,
WOW!
World of info here. Good job 👍 Jon. Thanks.
Thank you Paul, much appreciated my friend!
I finally got my ALP 4K. I watched this tutorial like five times works like a charm and I’m rocking 3070.
Awesome news! Happy to hear you're all up and running. Sounds like someone is going to have a fun weekend 😎 Me, I've got to finish another video lol
Looking forward to hearing how it goes! Yes, definitely want to make sure it's a 4K 60Hz cable (HDMI/DisplayPort).
Another great guide, thank you Jon! Easy to unterstand step-by-step tutorial. I love the extra sauce you get with your extra tips & tricks at the right places.
Thank you my friend, I appreciate your kind words!
Currently using this guide and its been so helpful. Cant wait for the vpx tutorial. Hope it comes out soon
Thank you for your feedback! I definitely need to complete the VPX tutorial. It has been started, needs more work. In the meantime, this guide should help get you started: wagnerstechtalk.com/alpbi (created for ALP HD).
Another great and helpful video! Also love the opening shot of the Pinball Museum in Vegas! I was there in the summer
Thank you kindly, I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that 😎 We took a family trip in Nov. to Vegas and thought I'd use it in this video.
You have a great skill doing tutorials. Way better than a lot of others. 5 stars!
Thank you, I appreciate your kind comment!
Thank you so much! Sorry, not much help with the shipping info but once you get it, hope some of this stuff is helpful to you!
Either way, I'll stick to waiting for game packs made for my machine that I don’t need to mess with 😏
Been waiting for this !
Thanks for another great video. Do the haptics work in OTG?
Jon, , did you see that the latest update to FX changes the GUI enoug to mess up your guide? Also hoping you can provide steps for DOFlinx?
@@WagnersTechTalk thank you! I bought the adapter and it's working great!
@@danmanx2 Awesome to hear, glad you're good to go!
Well done! Well done!! Can you do a video on how to add arcade games to 4k pinball?
Thank you! Yes, Arcade games will be coming but I'll likely wait until the Arcade Control Panel (ACP) support is available. Waiting for that means I can make a more complete video.
Before I jump into this and get a machine, do the solenoids, feedback, and all that work with the 4k ALP machines connected to my PC?
Great video!! Will vpx be coming down the road? Your the best!
Thank you! Yes, vpx will be coming later down the road. It's definitely on my to-do list 😎
@@WagnersTechTalkany updates for vpx and ssf kit guides?
Hey Wagner, how do I make the plunger more responsive. When I set up xpadder the plunger didn’t work properly.
The profile could use some improvements when it comes to the Z-Axis for the plunger but it should be able to launch the ball fine with the plunger. I spent some time trying to make it a better, but if anyone makes further improvements, let me know.
Do you have to have a 4k Atgames pinball to work? Or the regular atgames pinball machine?
This guide is for the 4KP. But, you can find guides for nearly all AtGames Legends devices here: wagnerstechtalk.com/guides
Great video Jon! Some comments from my setup and a couple of questions:
One of the weird things I ran into with getting Pinball FX setup was it would not display my DMD correctly.

Hi again Wagner, so I just got done setting up the same pc you purchased to pinball m and fx....only issue I have is the back glass for pinball FX only has dmd showing image doesn't have a backglass..the backglass is black and says /pinballFX/Mods/Cabnit/Table_150.png
Now I'm not sure if this is normal because pinball M has all backglass and dmd working but not on FX, the dmd is working perfectly.
I am using a PC but I will give it a go! Thank you for your videos!

So if I change the hz in nvidia from 60 to 59 should I also set vpx to 59 instead of 60?
I've not gotten to VPX testing as of yet.
Hey Jon! Guide was very helpful and easy to follow along with. I got Pinball M installed and the tables play but i have zero sound in Pinball M. I do have the SSF installed and it works perfectly outside of OTG. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much Jon! Easy fix!
I'm thinking about buying a handheld. Does anyone use the ROG Ally Extreme in OTG on the 4k? It says it will support up to four external screens?
I tried the ROG Ally in this video: ruclips.net/video/q0e6_9R8s7U/видео.html but wasn't able to get 4K playing smoothly with Pinball FX. It may be possible and may revisit it at some point.
@@WagnersTechTalk Was that the Z1 extreme version?
@@WagnersTechTalk Alsowas that in docked mode to get the highest output?
Click Ok.
I was going to use the HDMI out of my graphics card to a 4K HDMI splitter to the three inputs on the 4K pinball. this should work right?

Steam/Pinball FX is installed and I am playing AFM with sound ok, and while XPadder is self loading ok with the 4K profiles when I open it first in Windows before going to Steam, but when I go into Steam/Pinball FX, and play, I can only control things with the keyboard and mouse, not with the 4K cabinet controls as profiled in Xpadder. I'll scratch my head awhile to see if I can resolve that issue. (XPADDER is accurately responding to the button punches on the cabinet as per the installation instructions, but doesn't have the symbols on the XPADDER buttons that your video is showing)
@@galenrath8321Double-check that the ALP_Layout has also been applied from here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Setup_Xpadder . If you're not seeing the symbols, it's likely the reason.
is there a powered usb hub you recommend? I cannot get it to work on any of my usb ports. They are both 3.2. I also tried to plug into a USB 2.0 port on a USBC hub and it did not work. I have a different USB cable on order but would like to purchase a powered hub.
Thank you
Hi Chris, I added one I've used under #2 here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Troubleshooting . It was also one that came recommended to me from AtGames sometime back.
@@WagnersTechTalk appreciate you!
@@ChrisC488 Did you ever get it to work? I've tried so many powered USB hubs and dozens of USB cables from Amazon and still nothing works. Also I've tried different PCs and laptops.
Edit: I've also bought and tried Xpadder and still my PC doesn't see the Legends Pinball buttons.
On 8:00 mark nvidia setting, I only have hdmi 2 and hdmi 3 monitors, not playfield. Weird. Consequently can't set the 60hz there
Has anyone experimented yet with whether an upgrade/replacement to a 4k 120hz+ display is possible, specifically for OTG-only use?
I've not heard of anyone doing it at this point.
One more question I know I’m a pain but you are teaching me a lot --
I have a preinstalled ssf kit and I followed all directions but everytime I leave a program like going from fx to pinball m the sound goes out and I have to go back to atgames setting and restart ??
@@WagnersTechTalk ok so I have a laptop with a i9 13 gen , 3080ti and 32 ram -
HDMI to hdmi for playfield
Powered docking station is the
usb to usb
Dmd
Backglass
I was hoping we'd see something like powered hub being the solution, doesn't appear so. Some things you may have already tried: Make sure you have the latest Windows updates, if you refresh rate in NVIDIA Control Panel is set for 59Hz, try going back to 60Hz and see if that changes anything. Had a discussion with someone earlier today where that solved a similar issue. If any of this (or something else) fixes it, please let me know what it was.
Tried everything the top screen on the cabinet never appears at all.
Make sure they are arranged properly from left->right (playfield, backglass, DMD), scale set to 100%, etc. Basically, what's here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Windows_Display_Configuration
@@WagnersTechTalk Ok I had the screens arranged for fx3. Also, with that guide it would be awesome if you also added the screen size settings for people who still have the older legends screen. Not a fan of 4k for video games. I'm a 2k gamer. One of these days I'm going to pop out the old screen and put in a 2k with at least a 144hz refresh rate.
I'm noticing a bit of flipper lag, is there anything you can recommend to reduce it? i'm using a nvidia 2070 super to run it.
Check this out and see if this helps: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Improve_Latency_with_NVIDIA_GPUs
@@WagnersTechTalk awesome thank you, I do have one other mystery with xpadder, for some reason when playing M zen pinball the right flipper won't stay up when holding in the button. The left is fine, the flipper I know works right when not in PC mode.
There is info on that page on that issue too in the xpadder section. It should help you out.
@@WagnersTechTalk yes! I found it shortly after and everything is running great! Thank you again
Thanks! Amazing guide
Thank you, glad it was helpful to you!
So Xpadder is not finding any controllers, any thoughts?
There are a few possible things, start here: wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Xpadder_Troubleshooting , if that doesn't help, see #5 here wagnerstechtalk.com/alp4k-pcsetup/#Troubleshooting
@@WagnersTechTalk Thank you so much! it worked now! wrong OTG port connection sorry...
Np, glad you got it!
@@WagnersTechTalk Now wait on Zen to give me a code for FX3...
Add about 19 mins surely you should pick HDR? WOuld look better I imagine...

Thank you for your support!
Is it possible to otg a core max to it?
The core max will connect directly to single monitor. Not sure what you have in mind.
@@WagnersTechTalk I purchased the full control panel and wanted to play arcade games on it too. The core max appears on the playfield but controls don't work
okay with the recent update the arcade control panel works, but when picking the joypad, the buttons don't work; when setting it up as a configurable keyboard the buttons work but the joystick skips a selection when moving around.
