I'm Canadian working and living in New Zealand. Trump blames the world because of the US falling economy. Respected economists are predicting by the end of this decade - China, India and EU will be larger economies than the USA just by sheer population, innovation, etc. USA national debt is a hinderance for their growth. EU are in talks with China for trading.
Trump wants to give 100% tariff on all the BRICS nation because he doesn't want de-dollarization. A lot of central banks are leveling down their US dollar reserves. Trudeau is in talks with EU. Germany and Poland four years ago asked Canada if they can send LNG. We are 40 million in population. Melanie Joly keeps saying if Trump doesn't want our resources, he can always get it from Putin and Russia.
The Auto-industry is artificial in the USA. In the USA, you have a lot of PICK-UP truck like the Chevy Silverado and Ford F-150. Honda have something close, but not as useful. Toyota has the Tundra. The Cybertruck is not what most look for.
Furthermore, to replace the F250/F350 or Silverado 2500/3500 HD, you need a Hino. However, the Hino is too much like a truck and a lot less a ride to go to the church come Sunday. So, they might get an artificial "Survival" as long as they put the Tariffs on this class of vehicle.
Our auto industry was already gone, and with the tariffs we are seeing new plants being looked at back in Detroit of all places.
You really need to slow down with the content and go back to doing research, you are becoming incredibly unreliable.
Even Americans don't want US cars poor quality and too expensive.
It's okay, you will magically start to desire American cars and build quality because of it. And you will make it happen, because it is what you do. Trump says so. 😆
That is true. Whenever I search for car on any car search engine, I always look at either Japanese or Korean used cars. Mostly Toyotas. The only america cars I look at are older pickup trucks or older sports cars. It is almost like america cars past 2010 don’t even exist for me.
Europe dont want Chinese cars either. But politicians are busy destroying the industry here
@ I would run my old and toyotas until they will have holes in the floor rather than buying america made junk. America cars were great before, and even when quality declined, prices were also very cheap when buying used. However now they are both crappy in quality and expensive in price.
@@krasavchik8714 American cars seemed great before they faced competition.
The main problem with US cars apart from them being rolling pieces of crap is that they don't make models that are suited to either the European and Asian markets......they are too big, have shitty fuel efficiency and barely meet Euro or Asian safety standards.

Another problem is that there is no such thing as an "American' car anymore, even if the car is assembled in the US, it will always have major assembly components from another country, like the transmission assembly coming from Mexico, and the suspension assembly coming from Canada.
The whole point of all this is to bring manufacturing back to the US. if the foreign stuff is too expensive, we will make our own. Tariffs are being used as leverage to renegotiate trade deals. it's high inflation because the wealth is concentrated

but what if the govt can print out gold
there is an illusion of people holding gold but their values have dropped
and later when the govt recollect those printed gold, the rich are exempted from taxes, so where did they took it from
The Americans are willing to live with those low wages provides the cost of products can be brought down. Note that these basic needs are hijacked by the rich top 1%, they have invested in everything, they are the ones keeping prices up and had over the years squeezed out the wealth from the Joes of America such that now there are classes within the middle class. The only way out is, the top 1% must let go some percentage of their wealth to bridge the wealth gap btn the rich and poor. Ironically they, the Americans have been propagandized to believe that such move is communism and also breeds government control (of course the rich won't give their wealth without an exchange for some level of control in government and that's the chock point! )

Ford and Chevrolet were always big outside the US, even in Germany. It was only later that BMW and Mercedes took over because the American autos relied on pure gas guzzling muscle whereas the European cars relied on fuel efficient performance. This became critical during the 1970s oil crisis.

Here in Australia, there are some US made imports. The most common one I see is the Ford Mustang, which filled in for the Ford Australia performance offerings when they closed their Australian production. GM brings in their Camaro as well, but GM still hasn't figured out how to build right hand drive vehicles, so the Camaro is converted from left to right hand drive locally, which adds a 50% premium to its price. The Mustang is 60k and the Camaro is 90k in local money. Subsequently, the Camaro is a rare sighting on our roads.
GM also brings in the Silverado and Dodge sells their Ram, both of which are converted to RHD locally, both command a very high price and their size isn't a good fit for Australian roads and parking areas.
I've seen a few but they're more a speciality item, their owners tend to be a bit "special" too. I don't see the US selling more in Australia, less seems to be more likely.
We get the Mustang in the UK also but it has a starting price of $110K AUD. Unsurprisingly, the don't sell many.
US economy could be saved if US would reduce the value of USD but the US gov is too arrogant to do such a wise move.. only that way US can sell products
Canada has trillions in resources yes, but it will cost trillions to extract these resources and ship them to world markets. It’s basically a nonstarter. Chinese interests are 20 years ahead in resources much cheaper to extract .
I am a retired Canadian who was brought up in the automotive industry.
The quality of US cars is poor and what they currently make is overpriced. They have had limited success is making small vehicles as the few that they produced over the years were basically junk (I.e: the Ford Pinto and the Chevrolet Vega). Since they couldn't make money in the small car segment, they would import these vehicles from other countries and place their nameplate on them. Most of the small cars sold here were either Japanese or German made cars.
Over the past decade or so, the American manufacturers focused much of their efforts on making big pickup trucks at very high prices. Post Covid pricing for these products has gone beyond what many in the middle class are able, or willing, to pay. A lot of pickups are close to, or over, $100,000, which is insane. Dealer lots are packed with new trucks, and some of them are one or two model years old. The media calls this "lot rot".
American branded vehicles are my absolute last choice, due to overpricing, poor quality, and unpleasant dealer experiences.
Thanks
Imposing tariffs won’t ensure manufacturing returns to America. Those jobs left because it was cheaper to build elsewhere, that won’t change.
China will never put tariffs on Steel and Aluminium!
They use them for manufacturing stuff, so they like them cheap. 🙂

The need to diversify our economy (Canada) has been talked about since the demise of the British Empire but we can't compete, except in natural resources. Europe actually doesn't have any tariffs on the US products. Europe has a VAT (value added tax) system in which both producers and importers pay the tax.
It's not as simple as adding or removing the tariffs
@ not what chat gpt says. It says 10% on cars and various charges on other goods.
@ Yes, the European Union (EU) imposes import duties on vehicles imported from the United States. As of now, the standard tariff is 10% on passenger cars. However, recent developments indicate that the EU is considering reducing this tariff to align more closely with the U.S. rate of 2.5%. This initiative aims to de-escalate potential trade tensions between the EU and the U.S.
In addition to import duties, vehicles imported into the EU are subject to Value Added Tax (VAT), which varies by member state. For instance, in the United Kingdom, the standard VAT rate is 20%. Other fees, such as registration taxes, may also apply depending on the specific regulations of each country.
It’s important to note that trade policies and tariffs can change due to ongoing negotiations and economic policies. For the most current information, it’s advisable to consult official EU resources or contact customs authorities directly.
The U.S. auto industry has been structured around a global supply chain for decades, with many critical components (such as batteries, transmissions, and electronics) coming from Mexico, Canada, and Asia. Even if automakers wanted to ramp up production, they would need years to build new plants and supply chains.
Back then when I was in US the local passed a remark on Ford which was 'shit' to owe one quality which was beyond imagination
Found on Road Dead or Fix or Repair Daily were the names we used back then...nobody would buy Fords or GM's unless you liked trucks...most sensible people looking long term in the US would always go for Hondas or Toyotas. They lasted longer, were better quality and were cheaper.
@@fillyjamalama5201 Found on Road Dead 🤣 Obviously I haven’t been around vehicles enough.
I live in a border town in BC, Canada, only about an hour's drive from USA. There are very few American brand cars on the road, most people drive Toyota, Mazda, Subaru, etc. all-wheel drive cars and hybrids, and SUV's, along with some European makes like Volkswagen, Volvo, BMW. Some Ford and GM trucks are seen, but here too, mostly Asian imports. American cars are not seen as good value for the price, and tend to be less fuel efficient. Of course, many of the 'Asian' makes are now manufactured in Canada and USA and Mexico, so I am not sure what effect Trump's tariffs will have on their cost.
Australian PM Albanese wants to talk to Trump about his steel tariff. An Australian company already makes steel in the US and we take thousands of their horrible giant pickup trucks with little or no tariff - why would city drivers need to have a huge pickup? We get a lot of agricultural machinery from them too. All made from their steel.
That's an interesting point Sean, if Canada can establish the energy alternative for the EU, what currency will they use in trade? Euros, Canadian or US? It is doubtful that the Canadians would choose to use US dollars at this juncture given the current situation.
The only American vehicle that seems to be the Ram truck. And the advertised use for the truck, only 1 - 2% use it for that purpose.
Americans will have a limited choice of locally made, poor quality, overpriced cars… don’t u think it’s reminiscent of the Soviet economy in the 80s
Trump say TARIFF is a beautiful word. So other countries also using the beautiful word tariff with USA. 😂😂😂
Thank you Sean. 🌹
The U.S does not have efficient power sources to sustain long-term business because of outdated infrastructure and limited development to how big a company can build or produce. Power-grid is falling apart along with endless of powerline across all major U.S cities!!! Also you have limited transportation and outdated mythological transportation sectors to how a company can transport across each states and specific roads ways like toll roads. All of these internal rules and law by each state are extremely expensive for any foreign company to even invest in the U.S all together without getting bankrupted in the first year of doing business!
This also tied to work forces employment in the U.S as every state and cities do not meet specification of jobs criteria or at least jobs performance and experience enough. Even American business and those seeing this issue and concern has not yet even bothered with this sector issue because it is too expensive for them too!
it not only critical minerals - the US needs Canadian fresh water more as +100 million people are living in water vulnerable area and it is is getting dryer to the point they might only have 20 years left on their water reserves. if one bases on the how fast their aquifers and water sheds are dropping in the last 20 years
I was just in Mexico and envied their selection of cars, vans and trucks available to them. They seemed affordable and economical to operate. The US will be left behind again as it was when Toyota and other Japanese brands swept the US market with affordable, reliable and economical vehicles. Only this time. We in the US won’t be allowed other options other than the current crap they try to push on us.
America will very soon in my opinion be one of the most expensive countries in the world for American citizens in particular the middle class. Trump will call higher prices winning and claim higher prices is not inflation which technically it is not however for citizens it will feel the same.
Good afternoon Sean
Americans love paying higher prices as Trump says it is good for the country
As a modern-day mechanic i find newer cars are the least reliable as far as longevity, they have major component failures, engine, transmission, cooling system , wiring,, and the list is endless, but i must say poor engineering on the behalf of car, and truck manufacturers keep me employed,, business is boooooooming 😊
The cars are not wanted by the buyer in the car market outside America
Brics + should form asingle market and without using dollar and isolate us and eu from supply chain
What time is it in Singapore? Sean now on 24/7 alert ..... 🙂
Not entirely fair comments regarding US autos in Europe. Europe imposes protectionist tariffs and also mandates environmental standards that exclude autos from foreign manufacturers.
The solution is to scrap ALL tariffs worldwide and let the free market decide where the best value for money is.
JUST AWESOME
THANKS AGAIN
Morning
1:35 In the morning where I live.
@StanleytheCat-v8z Bosnia 08:48 now...
Sean, heads up. A BMW in the United States is referred to as either a BMW or a Beamer. The acronym BM stands for bowel movement, you may want to update your car reference usage 😂
Thank you.
I will laugh so hard if Castro turdeau will join brics and end up being the savior of Canada.
there are a lot of ford rangers in Thailand, but not much else from usa. lots of byd and Chinese cars too. in laos, i dont see much American made.
i am pleased with canada severing ties with america. should have been prioritized decades ago. good luck finding quality materials Herr Trump! btw, loving your vlogs - hope you are having best day, cheers from Canada
NO MATTER HOW BIG THE BALLON IT CAN NOT RESIST A NEEDLE - ACTIONS And REACTIONS IS JUST A CONSTANT
Nascar , says it all, round and round, ever decreasing circles.❤❤❤😂😂
There are many Ford and GM around. GM is Opel in Germany.
With the price of petrol very high who wants to drive around in a V8 gas guzzling American ice car or Tesla's extremely overpriced and outdated EV's. Americas car manufacturing and tech manufacturing is light years behind China and there's no chance to catch up anytime soon.
