@@FreshnssQuestion about the divider that separates the waste water & purified water. The divider doesn't come all the way up, the video shows filling the tank past the divider, wouldn't the water mix at that point?
@jasonphan2001 yeah it's a waste if it spills over too much but it's not a concern with operation. The fill/input side of the tank would still be from the tap even if it spills into the waste side. The output of water is from the front of the unit.
@@Freshnssdude why are you just lying to everyone on here. The machine stops working when the waste water limit is met. So if you go passed the divider it literally won’t filter water. You’re literally engaging in this companies scam. Why?
Most countertop RO systems have some re-mineralization filters or stages, but in reality the addition of minerals is pretty minimal. Water leaching minerals from the body is a bit of a myth, humans are pretty good at regulating what's in our body and most people in developed countries get too much of some minerals, like salt. Getting more calcium and magnesium is not a bad thing though!
Yes, We will add it to the list! We just did the under sink hot/cold dispenser! It is a very cool unit 👌 Instant Hot Water & Reverse Osmosis All-In-One! Waterdrop K6 Tankless Review ruclips.net/video/AkTMsgOsgu0/видео.html
Been looking into countertop reverse osmosis systems for my daughter at uni. This one looks good but don't trust longevity of product as it seems to be made in China, well the head office is based there. Chinese components are just lower quality.
Reverse osmosis (RO) and pitcher filters work with entirely different technologies. Lower TDS with RO will be expected but depends on what's in the water too.
Hey Warelephant - ROs typically do lower the pH of water a little bit after being treated because it removes the alkaline minerals. You can always add a remineralization filter or use trace mineral drops to get the pH back to around 7. We alos tested the AquaTru RO and that did a great job with filtration while balancing the pH. Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/DOgw9KOm-Sg/видео.html
Depends on the RO permeate used, but typically most of them will filter out anything larger than 0.1nm (0.0001μm) which includes microplastics. Note that there is no lower bound defined for microplastics, just anything smaller than 5mm.
Thank you for the review. If money is not an issue, Aquatru vs RKIN U1 vs NU aqua systems over the counter RO vs this waterdrop which one IS THE BEST over the counter?
Hey There! It’s a close call between the Waterdrop and Aquatru. The Waterdrop is a little more compact, and the replacement filters are a little less. The AquaTru has great filtration performance and technology, just a little larger footprint. You can dig into the details between the two: Waterdrop: bit.ly/3g8nXG7 AquaTru: waterandwellness.com/freshnss I still think the RKIN U1 is a little too expensive with over $700 price tag and then $150 replacement filters. I think that there are better solutions if you want a RO hot water dispenser or negative ORP water. That’s my 2 cents.
@@Freshnss i just watched your video on water pitchers and the lab results showed that zero water didn’t remove any fluoride. I did watch “Modern Castle’s video” on water pitchers and zero water removed 100% fluoride. You seem to use the same lab, very strange, what could have happened?
Hey, thanks for watching our other reviews! I can’t speak to their process, but watching the video there are a number of errors collecting their samples like water splashing over the filter and dropping directly to the bottom reservoir and not wearing gloves, etc. As far as the fluoride, I can’t say exactly why except there is clearly variations in the performance, but also remember that these are one sample from one location and everybody’s water chemistry is different. Since you are already checking out ROs, the solution is that ROs remove the broadest spectrum of contaminants in your drinking water. So if you want higher certainty - stick to one of these countertop ROs
Hello....i currently have the Rkin system and I'm having to replace all 4 filters every 10 months even tho they state RO membrane lasts 2 years and the others 1 yr. I knew i wouldn't get the full 2 yrs for the RO membrane but 10 months is not good. Ive had this unit since 2020 its just getting too expensive. I normally make 1 gallon of filtered water per day. This past week ive been on the phone several times with customer service because my water has an awful aftertaste and i just replaced 3 of the filters 3 weeks ago (not RO) now they tell me i have to use water that is 70-80 degrees in tank to be filter. I use room temp water at 66 degrees. Idk ??Do u think this would be a better option? Thank you!
How are you determining that they need to be replaced every 10 months? Are you using a TDS meter? You should always flush your pre filters before reinstalling your RO membrane as carbon filters can release fines which will shorten the life of the RO.
I use a TDS/PH meter. My reading after completing cycle was TDS 104 and PH 6.25. I contacted Rkin and they said that because I changed 3 filters on Nov 16th that I'll need to change my RO. Told them I just replaced RO Jan 25, 2023 and they said sometimes RO filters need to be changed more often 6 months even. Also after installing any filters I run 3 RINSE cycles to clean filters per Rkin. I'm just at a loss.
@tracyharris666 are you running the rinse with the RO removed? You should not run a rinse through the RO. Also, TDS isn't going to be helpful for you if there is a post-filter which it looks like that unit has. Your pH is low, but that may be due to your water source. Note that we don't have any experience with these units.
Remineralization isn't really necessary if you eat food and/or take other supplementation. The amount of minerals you'd get from water are pretty minimal for most people. Most reverse osmosis does remove fluoride.
It's best to get a metabolic panel to check for any potential deficiencies or take a quality multivitamin. In general, calcium and magnesium deficiencies are fairly common.
I checked lab results. It does not look it tests for any other substances. I'm worried about dichloromethane that was previously identified for 2 of Waterdrop countertop filters by BOS Water. Did you test it for it? ruclips.net/video/Qpfnu-mZL3A/видео.html
Correct, we didn't test for VOCs and the results from the other reviewer are definitely concerning. We'd love to see a follow-up to see if it was an issue with the filters or the unit itself.
Hey David - That is an excellent question. The RO membrane is rated to remove pharmaceuticals, pesticides, herbicides (the SVOC group), but our sample water did not contain them. We also lab tested the AquaTru countertop and added a ton of chemicals for that very reason and it surprisingly removed all of them. You can check it out here. Let me know what you think! ruclips.net/video/DOgw9KOm-Sg/видео.html
Hey there! The UV light is the last stop after the water passes through the filter and reverse osmosis membrane. The water is already free of debris before passing through the UV, so the light can effectively destroy microorganisms 🦠 .
Reverse osmosis can remove over 90% of pharmaceuticals. Distiller is also very effective, but distilled water tastes a little different and takes longer to create, just an FYI
So quick question, When you fill the tank to the Max fill line the wall that separates the waste water to the tank water doesn't extend all the way to the top. Also, wouldn't the waste water over flow into the clean water side of the compartment even if we don't fill to the max line?
Hi aloha. I don’t know why @Freshnss just brushed off your question. It is a super valid question. I just got mine today and there is totally a huge portion of the tank that is not separated. So clearly you can’t use the total stated volume of the tank without the tap water mixing with the waste water. Did you ever figure out what to do about it. I think their marketing department has just totally mislead the consumers in the actual available tank volume.
@jonathanriley6442 hi there I spoke to their customer service rep and it seems like it's only separated up to that point because after that point if the water is not filled on the clean water side it'll automatically display L 1. If the water is filled all the way past that point then it clearly means that the clean water ratio is way more than what it's spitting out which the machine can handle and it won't have much impact on the TDS reading of the clean water being dispensed at the front. so as long as you don't actually pour water on top just a little bit at a time (that will cause the waste water to over saturate the clean waterside when it overflows to the othet side) or ignore L1 messages you should be fine. For me to prevent L1 from coming on i I add water to the max fill line before it goes empty because my sink hose is long enough for me to just reach over instead of taking off the tank. So bottomline is that two waters ( dirty and clean ) can be mixed as long as its above that capacity where its separated. In otherwords, if clean water side has more than enough water it will still function and ur good. The mix of water or the overflow dropping into the clean waterside is not something to worry.
@@alohawaii222 thank you so much. I actually just got off the phone with them too. Unfortunately there’s nothing in the manual that goes over the tank and how it’s divided. I kept getting L1 when the waste water filled up. But if you just always keep the whole tank full it works. Sorry for calling you out like that. But I really appreciate you providing that response. I think a lot of people will find it really helpful. Happy new year!
Sorry, I also found lots of negative comments on Amazon regarding the design flaw of the water tank. May I know if we fill the water tank with tap water, is it we just fill it up to the wall separating the tap water compartment and waste water compartment? If filling tap water to the max line, will the tap water be spilled over and fill up the waste water tank and make the machine can't work? As my home has elderly people, I want to give them something easy to use. Hope you can answer this before I decide whether to buy this machine. Thanks.
I don’t know the exact measurement but I live in Los Angeles as well. I do not have a water softener. How would you compare the waterdrop K19 to the RKIN Alcapure? The alcapure seems appealing because of the option to have a softener and the added minerals all in 1 unit..
Right, they are both good. but the RKIN doesn’t have a “softener”. If you have actual hard water, you would need a softener to resolve that issue. The RKIN use a water “conditioner”, which doesn’t remove hard water minerals. I would personally do the Waterdrop on a budget and the AquaTru if you want to focus on filtration performance and remineralization. That said, it is best to test your water first to know what’s in it and the specific levels. Then you know what will work best without wasting time and money. You can do this with one of your tests: freshnss.com/water-test-kits/ And here is more info on the AquaTru too: freshnss.com/aquatru-review/ Let me know what you think! 👍
Thanks for the info! Doesn’t the anti-scale carbon filter on the RKIN pro-long filter life if you live in a region with hard water? There is an option when purchasing to go with this filter instead of the regular carbon filter.
Yes, it can help with extending filter life a little bit. But I just didn’t want you to think it was a softener or removing the hard water minerals. But his hard is your water? That makes a big difference.
