    Thanks for your generosity sharing your awesome knowledge. I had family members that made soap when I was a child, never thought much about it, but it's an amazing skill to know and it has come so far, I absolutely love it and am looking forward to being a part of this awesome genre. Exciting! Appreciate you.

    Thank you so much for this video. I've had detailed soap carvings of little animals my dad mad in the 70's as a child sitting on a shelf waiting to be molded so that I can give the replicas as gifts. I hope they sell this at hobby lobby so I can do it tomorrow! If not I will purchase from Amazon.

    On the video you say you trimmed and trimmed a bar of soap for the base. I noted that in the instructions for the box of silicone it says to make sure surfaces are clean. I have already made my bar with the piece on the top. Is it going to be ok using soap for the base?

      As long as the mix isn't hot enough to melt the silicone then its fine

    • @iwannaapple7190
      @iwannaapple7190 7 лет назад

      I know your question was 2 years ago, but in my limited opinion, I would say "no" to cold process because the batch has to be large enough to create its own heat. Hot process soap I would say yes. If you have tried this since then with the cold process I would be interested to know if it worked.

    • @demetruisgreen7275

      she probably weighed everything the first time so she can save material for the long haul! Smart Lady with the #jersey voice

  • @PopsShack
    @PopsShack 7 лет назад

    Your maths is out. 10 parts base to 1 part catalyst = 252g of base and 25.2g of catalyst. 10+1=11 parts. If one part = 25g, then 10 parts must equal 250g. What you've done is nine parts base to one part catalyst.

    how do you figure out what a part is?

    • @joannekeryger7909
      @joannekeryger7909 8 лет назад

      +Erica Mick ...What she meant was she used 10 to 1. The part could be any amount, for example; 10 tablespoons to 1 Tablespoon or 20 tbspns. to 2 tbspns. If you are making a larger mold it could possibly be 10 cups to 1 cup. Hope this helps.

  • @irenezewski

    have you tried making molds of fruit, like raspberries? I want to give it a try but wondering how I could hold the raspberry down in place? Anyone have any ideas?

    • @jbiebs1001
      @jbiebs1001 8 лет назад +2

      irene saumur I would be REALLY difficult to use natural fruit to do so as it has to hold its shape for so many hours and fruit like raspberries are extremely soft. Instead, buy plastic fruit decorations from a craft store (the kind that are in wreaths) or use childrens doll accessories.
