A deluxe box set edition (5-CD/1-Blu-ray) features the original album (remastered), plus special remixes from the original Monster producer Scott Litt, a disc of previously unreleased demos, as well as a complete live 1995 performance captured in Chicago.
The accompanying Blu-ray offers Monster in both hi-resolution audio and 5.1 Surround Sound, a host of video content: the 90-minute film Road Movie, which documents R.E.M.’s 1995 tour, and all six music videos from Monster.
The collection is packaged in a five-and-a-half-inch portfolio book, featuring liner notes by journalist Matthew Perpetua-with new interviews from band members-and archival photographs.
Expanded editions, offering the original album and the remixed version, are available on two 180-gram vinyl LPs or two CDs, both featuring reimagined cover art by longtime R.E.M. designer Chris Bilheimer.
The remastered album is also available as a standalone 180-gram vinyl LP, with the original 1994 Monster artwork.
Digital editions of the album mirror the complete deluxe audio content-remastered, remixed and live- available across all streaming and download platforms. Digital breakouts will also offer the remastered and remixed album in hi-resolution (88.1/24).

    • @music4thesoul80
      @music4thesoul80 Год назад +2

@@justinwise6846- Normally I hate how people toss around the word "underrated" when discussing music as its use is highly subjective. That being said for once I actually do agree that Monster is R.E.M.'s most underrated album. No followup record, no matter how good, was ever going to top the brilliance of Automatic for the People and unfortunately Monster suffered because of its position in the R.E.M. catalogue. As such the album never did get the proper credit it deserved from fans when it was originally released. Fans were looking for another Out of Time or another Automatic for the People and Monster threw them for a loop. Thank God those same fans eventually came around and Monster finally started to get the respect it deserved years later.

I never picked up on that before and thought you were full of it. I then listened five times and only at the end does he say that. So you were right and thanks, I guess.

Best vibrato & backwards guitar solo since the days of George Harrison & Hendrix.

      There's a backwards guitar solo!?

@@naturalnashuan if it isn't backwards, it's made to sound backwards. Like the Beatles did on revolver era tracks like "Taxman" and "Tomorrow Never Knows"

He come up with the lyrics from something that happened to Dan rather News man. Sometime back in the 80s some man on the street started beating Dan screaming what's the frequency Kenneth? True story supposedly. A great song came out of it.

What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
I was brain-dead, locked out, numb, not up to speed
I thought I'd pegged you an idiot's dream
Tunnel vision from the outsider's screen
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
I'd studied your cartoons, radio, music, TV, movies, magazines
Richard said, "Withdrawal in disgust is not the same as apathy"
A smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
"What's the frequency, Kenneth?" is your Benzedrine, uh-huh
Butterfly decal, rearview mirror, dogging the scene
You smile like the cartoon, tooth for a tooth
You said that irony was the shackles of youth
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
I never understood the frequency, uh-huh
You wore our expectations like an armored suit, uh-huh
    I couldn't understand
You said that irony was the shackles of youth, uh-huh
    I couldn't understand
You wore a shirt of violent green, uh-huh
    I couldn't understand
I never understood, don't fuck with me, uh-huh
