  • How to correctly apply Crystal Deodorant so that it actually DOES work! Bet you're doing it wrong :-)

    As a smelly dude who picks up heavy things, I can work up quite the aroma. That said, I love the Crystal deodorant. I've found that applying it right out of the shower works very well. Keeps me odor free in my pits for about a day.

      That's all you need; "a day".
      And then you reapply it the following day like everything else.

    I have been using this deodorant (stick version) for about fifteen years. It works very well for me! I think the key to success for this product is to really clean your armpits before applying the stick, using a scrub brush with soap. Then you must allow your arm pits to dry before getting dressed. You can NEVER use the Crystal stick for a 'touch up', like I used to occasionally do with the traditional perfumed stick deodorants. If you use it for a 'touch up' the stick is ruined. My partner used my Crystal stick once, I knew it right away when I used it- smelled like B.O.! She does not use a scrub brush on her pits. Once the stick is contaminated the smell does not go away. The stick version lasts at least 2 years! Another tip- don't drop it! Now that I think about it, I think that is the only time I've had to buy it again..when I break it!

    I used to think they didn't work, but realized, it was because I didn't use it correctly:
    It's not suppose to be too wet, only steamed moist, put on dry skin, or vice versa. It's suppose to stick to your skin, when applying. Not smooth. (Otherwise the crystal content don't transfer too your skin, it's like trying to paint an oily wall, it will not stick). Anyways, not all crystal deos, are healthy, and can contain alum.
    Himmalaya salt, is another alternative, used the same way. You can also use, apple cider vinegar,

    I've been using Chrystal Rock/Stone deodorant for over 20 years, and they (I've used more than one kind) always work fine for me. To be honest, though, I've never had a problem with underarm odor, and I rarely ever get wet under my arms, I don't know why. The first "rock" I purchased was from a health food store, and it was literally a rock. I used that one for about 5 years. The next time I purchased a Chrystal Rock, it was in the form of an actual deodorant stick. I've been using this type of deodorant ever since. The great thing is that these deodorant sticks last for at least 5 - 7 years. I always put my deodorant on right after my shower; I don't rub it on for 40 seconds; I just swipe it on for about 2 seconds and that's it. I don't know if this works for people who have strong underarm odor, or sweat a lot, but it works for me.

    • @JoyfullJuneBugg
      @JoyfullJuneBugg 9 лет назад +2

      Robin Bunn Yeah I only rub it under my arms 2 to 5 seconds tops NO issues whatsoever with odor.

    • @vomMarischal
      @vomMarischal 9 лет назад +4

      Robin Bunn Same here. Rub rub, and done. I never stink when I use it (and I stink bad if I don't wear deodorant). But I'm not sure there's any point in putting it in a plastic container. Seems like more crap in the landfill for nothing.

      Yes! I also have been using a Crystal Rock for many years too! In fact, it's the BEST, I've ever used for a natural alternative! {GREAT}
      I like the roll-on version in addition and I've never had any issues. Prior, I bought Arm and Hammer Baking Soda (Unscented) yet, once I learned about aluminum free choices, I switched happily and immediately.

    Whilst a lot of these natural crystal deodorants don't contain aluminium chlorohydrate, keep in mind potassium alum (potassium aluminium sulphate) is still aluminium, it's just naturally sourced. A lot of people choose natural deodorants to avoid the use of aluminium so it's always good to actually research what's in a product before you purchase it.

  • @lullanie

    That was very helpful thanks. I already use the crystal and find that it works well but this should make it work even better. I think the misconception people have about it is that it's an anti-antiperspirant which it isn't. It will not prevent you from sweating but will make your sweat odorless. So if you're very active you might want to use an anti-antiperspirant as well. But in terms of making sweat odorless it's unbeatable. Even when I showered in the morning and used plenty of commercial speed stick I still got a bit of a mix of perfume and perspiration smell on my clothes at the end of the day but with the crystal there is nothing at all. Only the smell of my body soap or gel. It's pretty amazing.

    Much easier to slightly dampen your underarms, then use the stick (or use it directly out of the shower). Absolutely no need to rub as much as she's saying - who's got time for that? This stuff is very effective in eliminating odour but remember it's not an anti perspirant but can be used with other products to combat both problems.

  • @robertrichardson3921
    @robertrichardson3921 5 лет назад +7

    This is exactly the opposite of how I do it, I rub it on dripping wet for a second or two, and go about my business. I have used about 3 different brands and they all work the same excellent way when I stick them under a stream of water and rub them on wet. It should be noted that they are not antiperspirants, so you do sweat, and if you wear a fabric that can harbor bacteria like cotton or polyester, the bacteria there will begin to stink, so wash your clothes. If you wear merino wool, this is less of a problem.

    • @80PercentScottish
      @80PercentScottish 2 года назад

      Merino wool makes me sweat and itch. I never understood the hype. I got some merino wool socks - I'd never really had foot odour before but by Christ did I have it in the merino wool socks. Best to stick to cotton, hemp or bamboo for me.

    I started using this around the time that Jay-Z popularized Cristal - so me and everyone in my circle pronounce it "Cris-STAHL" Anyway - the process outlined here is a little work intensive. Before I started using the rock, I used the liquid roll on. That, you have to apply to clean skin and let it dry on your skin. Here I just add on drop and apply like a regular deodorant, you just have to make sure you apply it that the rock touching your skin is wet and slippery - a dry rock isn't going to do anything. This dries on the skin a lot faster than the roll on version, it works better too.

    Crystal deodorant, being natural, does not stop sweating. Antiperspirant stops sweat by intentionally blocking the sweat glands with chemicals. I am not really OK with that, so I switched to deodorant instead. I have put the link in the video description, hope it helps!

This is the ONLY deodorant that has ever worked this well for me. AND the stick lasted the whole time until i dropped it and it broke. I don't dry my underarms after the shower...i just put it on. BUT if I happen to be dry already...i just run it under the faucet quickly and yes its very wet...but it does dry....i love it!

    Followed these instructions and it really hurts, like feels like my skin is starting to stretch and become damaged before its even all the way dry. I don't want to get stretch marks there so I gave it up. It STILL didn't last all day even when I rubbed until I was more than sure I had rubbed long enough. I don't think this product is good for skin if you have to rub so much that you are stretching your skin like that.

    It does work. And works great, even on hot days and after exercise. Do wet the top then apply. It did take me 8 months to detox from antiperspirants. And I tried tons of other natural deo that didn't work. But this does. Just detox first. And yes, get it wet. And you don't need to apply for as long as this chic. About 20 swipes is what I do.

    Okay but how are you supposed to use a crystal roll-on deodorant? That's what I have and it doesn't work at allllll. If I sweat at ALL I can smell myself. The only directions on the bottle are "must be applied to clean skin."

    • @ConsciouslyJenny
      @ConsciouslyJenny  10 лет назад +1

      I have heard people say the roll-on doesn't work as well either. I think there must be some difference in the chemical composition to make it into liquid, maybe that affects the way it works?

    • @ConsciouslyJenny
      @ConsciouslyJenny  10 лет назад +2

      Hello! That's exactly what I do! I rub it until there is no more moisture. You know, I hadn't ever cleaned my crystal -- it's a rock so it can't harbor much bacteria, the crystal is dry when I'm finished, and I only use it on clean skin. We don't typically clean solid deodorants :-)

    I've never had to put it on until it chafes. Once it is wet apply liberally, as the liquid has already dissolved the salts, and let it dry naturally. I use it right out of the shower before drying and have never had a problem.

    I'm allergic to aluminum and break out with regular deodorants. Tried crystal deodorant for almost 2 years before I learned that it's NOT a wipe on 3 or 4 times thing and you're done. But, I could never apply as little as she does. I have to apply 1 of 2 ways:
    Soon as I shut the shower off I grab the deodorant, while underarms are still wet, and I apply 100 strokes. Then move to the next underarm. Yes, that's a lot. But wait! I repeat the process. I might have to re-wet it.
    OR
    If I start with dry underarms, I take a spray bottle and squirt under both arms, place the deodorant under a stream of water completely wetting it, then apply 100 strokes right and left pits. Then repeat.
    Took me almost 2 years to find the best results for me. But for 7 years now, I have been breakout free. And if you wonder about my odor, well I am SO sensitive to smells that I would be the first to notice anything foul radiating off me! My husband and mom are always assuring me that my pits smell "just fine!".
    Oh! And if you don't drop and crack it, lol, it really DOES last a year! Great product. Don't give up on it.

    • @CarlaZona
      @CarlaZona 8 лет назад

      Alicia, you are wasting the stone. As long as the stone or your skin is damp a few swipes is all you need. A hundred? You might have a different problem if you feel you have that much odor.

    • @alijb1980
      @alijb1980 8 лет назад +2

      Nope. No problems. In fact my specialist himself told me not to give up on the product and to keep applying until finding what worked for me. Living and working, physical work, in Phoenix Az, I don't know anyone who could get away with a "few swipes". Lol, I don't know about you, but in all the years that I have used this, I have never been able to use a whole stick before it falls and breaks. So, nothing wasted at all.
      Bottom line-it works! Just need to be patient and adjust to find what works best for you.

    There isn't only one way to apply crystal deodorant. I've been using one for 20 years, and I've never had any body odour problems. When I apply it, I don't wet the crystal, I wet my underarms after I get out of the shower. Then I go over my entire underarm area (not just the small area in the middle that you usually do a quick swipe on with conventional deodorant, but the whole area around it as well) about 4 or 5 times (or for about 30 seconds, like you demonstrated). My underarms are still wet when I'm done, but I just let them dry before I put my shirt on. I actually bought a small handheld fan to dry my underarms after I put on my deodorant. It might sound like a lot of work, especially compared to conventional deodorant, but with a crystal, you don't have to worry about it until the next time you shower (or for about 2 or 3 days, if you don't shower every day, which I don't, because I don't need to, and I also have eczema, which would be a lot worse if I showered every day).
    I've heard a lot of people say that the crystal deodorant doesn't work, but I know that they're not using it right if it's not working, because like I said, I've been using one for 20 years, and I have never had a problem.

    I’m a dude. I used regular deodorant for a long time. Some deodorants gave me a rash, especially when I would sweat. Then I used all natural deodorants and they only worked about 1/3 of a day till I stunk.
    Then I tried a crystal. Super skeptical. It’s just a dumb rock.
    I didn’t smell like anything for over 24 hours. Sweat and regular work.
    It does leave a costing that may feel slightly odd when you shower the next day.
    They are awesome.

    This deodorant DOES WORK. However, it still contains Aluminum. I had been using and recently did some deeper research. I have two videos on the subject if anyone is curious. I reviewed several in one, and in the second I spoke about how Crystal deodorant is actually somewhat misleading, and the dangers of Aluminum. I provide some studies too, so come check out my vids if you are curio! I am seeking a new alternative :/

      The molecules of the crystal are too big to be absorbed by the pores. So although it does have aluminum in its chemical composition it will not harm you. The other forms of aluminum in the commercial deodorants can be adsorbed and there is where the problems start.

    Honestly I have spray bottle I mix one part distilled water to one part vodka & Just spray the stone or my body & I use it that way. The alcohol aids in disinfecting & evaporation. also I find that I can use the stone on larger portions of my body that get smelly that I would not consider putting traditional deodorant on.

    I´m confusses, because, for my understanding, Mountain Rose Herbs isn´t pure, that´s because uses a lot of distillations, what do you think about Jenny? do you think, between this 3 options, is better doterra? I´m confused haha, and YL and doterra I think it´s a problem to buy so easy, like MRH that it´s to easy to order online

    Do you find that the two together (the natural solid and the crystal) are effective?

  • @2pape
    @2pape 10 лет назад +73

    This video is VERY misleading. You titled it " Why Crystal Deodorant doesn't work" . When someone like me sees your video, I am immediately going to take it that you are going to talk about Crystal Deodorant and why it doesn't "work" as a product. In your description you then wrote " how to correctly apply crystal deodorant". Your video title and description are contradictions and this is not an effective way to promote your video.

    • @MikeThePike316
      @MikeThePike316 10 лет назад +6

      How ineffective was it though? Seems like it worked on you because you you gave her a view. LOL.

    • @2pape
      @2pape 10 лет назад +1

      GlenGorgeous GlenGorgeous, I would like to address several anomalies in your response. If you actually read what I wrote, I was outlining the misleading title of the video with respect to the description of the video as the two contradict. Where does the ineffective part come in to play? Please explain this to me because judging from what you wrote you seem to be very uneducated. How old are you? A grown adult would not try to be so ignorant and defend a clearly visible error in wording. Immature people like you who have a ghost profile should mind their limited IQ and when to exercise it. I advise you to use your discretion on how you respond.

      2pape You take yourself way too serious my friend. You stated, "[T]his is not an effective way to promote your video" in reference to the contradictions between the title and the actual description of the video. My claim is merely that regardless of those contradictions, it obviously is an effective way to promote her video because the title reads as an inflammatory comment (i.e., the title draws the viewer in by making some kind of controversial statement). To bolster my claim, I noted that her title aroused a desire within you to navigate to this video, ergo it must be effective.

    • @automa4511
      @automa4511 10 лет назад +12

      The video title is only misleading if you haven't taken middle school English.
      The quotation marks around "doesn't work" means that she's quoting from someone who has used this product incorrectly and it *didn't work* for them. This video is to give a solution to people who claim it doesn't wok.
      Also, even if she didn't put the quotes around it, it would still make sense because the video is telling you how to do it correctly, therefore the only plausible reason it would make sense is because you didn't do it the way she had showed you. If you want to find out why the product may not work, maybe you should do research for yourself on the product. She doesn't need your help to promote her video, obviously she has 13,000+ views with only 12% dislikes vs likes.
