I like how a lot of the Lightning Hoods craft double as luxury yachts and whatnot. They're covered in onboard pools, bars, prominent viewing decks and long windows. The lore does support this - many of them are apparently ambush craft, intended to surprise cargo ships for raids with those pop-up turrets and hidden missile pods and so forth, and being that their faction as a whole is a split off science division used to decadence from the days of the empire. This all also makes a lot of sense with their weaker armor and higher speeds than most factions, but they still really punch back despite it.
While this is a bit gamey Lightning Hood Skimmers/Hydrofoils generally have rather bad Terrain avoidance because of how fast they move, and how large their turn circles are; so if you do fight them near an island they have a bad habit of ramming it, or beaching themselves because they love to circle you. Resulting in them often turning the wrong way at the time making it impossible to dodging the suddenly incoming rock. Due to said rock they then have a significant emotional event.
Ah, the Lightning Hoods. You've just finished mopping up the DWG, maybe OW as well, and you decide to push east since the TG are kinda scary looking. You send in fast aircraft that easily dealt with the previous factions, and the Hoods say "welcome to the real game fucko" and shoot them right out of the sky, then zip around dodging all your low velocity weapons and missiles to kill your big ships. By no means the hardest faction in the game, but still a sizable jump from their wood-clad neighbors to the west. I was talking to someone recently about the Neter factions, and one thing we discussed was how most of the factions have one or two important "lessons" to teach the player. DWG gives you a relatively easy start with a lot of variety, teaching you to develop functional craft against various different threats. OW teaches you that active defenses and evasion are sometimes better than armor. LH then teaches you that sometimes, you really do need that armor, because you can't evade lasers or shoot down plasma. Funnily enough, after the fire update, I think stone ends up being overall quite strong against the LH. Normally it's not great because the low AC makes it less effective than metal against most things, but it actually somewhat counters a lot of what the Hoods like to do. It has good raw HP per cost, which makes it reasonably effective against plasma and pierce PAC, it has high fire resistance and 0 flammability which (along with the HP) actually makes it the most cost effective armor against lasers/fire, and it has good EMP resistance to help blunt the surges they like to employ. It does however get eaten alive by thump PAC, and you'll need solid anti-missile defenses lest those do the same.
White Flayers and Lightning Hoods are the two "Medium" factions IMO. Very competently made ships, but minmaxed into strategies that have well-defined counterplay. They are where the player is going to need an actual plan beyond "go forward and shoot gun"
"It's gonna be big, it's gonna be mean, it's gonna be mighty unclean" somehow from only a few of your vids i can tell you have a great taste in music. Bless

I remember the first time I encountered the lightning hoods in the game. Up to that point, that only faction I had fought was DWG, and I remember feeling like I was finally getting a grasp on the game (see I had recently figured out AI and that I could control multiple creations :o) I sailed my 20 m/s ironclads loaded up with HE and frag weapons into LH territory and... got completely annihilated XD Looking back through that profile, I see that I have an entire folder dedicated to the "Lightning Hood War" with redesigned ships that were now sporting HEAT, AP, and smoke. Lots and lots of smoke.
I had no idea what i was doing for the first 1000 hours or so and defaulted to screwing around in the designer. I love green and so i wanted to experience the green faction at all the lessons that came with it So when I did eventually actually play the game o started out with apheat space ships because they are very straightforward for control surfaces and exploit distance. I can't actually make very good cheap boats the same way many can't readily counter the lightning hoods
My method of dealing with LH, Particle Cannons, Torps (if they land in the water), and HAG cannons (Hyper Assault Gauss, which is just the railgun with extremly high rpm and a moderate charge per round)
Awesome to have you back on my algorithm did i miss the steel striders faction breakdown or is it yet to come? I can't find it if so thanks in advance mate love the faction breakdown idea
i will be getting the game but i wish to make a new faction been watching for a long long time . and i no longer play space engineers so i am going to bring my craft from the abyss to take over the seas . is there any new lore I need to know about ?
Why is it that when you open the enemy spawner menu you are able to see and spawn all the vehicles in the game (or at least a large majority) but when I do it, only a couple appear? For example, in the Gray Talons faction not a single vehicle appears to me in the enemy spawner menu, its literally empty.
To summarize, they like the color green and go "zappity zap zap!"

The Lightning Hoods: If you haven't figured out how smoke defense works, it's time to fucking learn.

Oof... a hint that the LH are not The Good Guys. 😅
15:00 that was beyond personal lmao
@@gringoman420 It was so RUDE
@BorderWise12 sure put him in his place
using this as a guide for
1. How to counter the LH
2. How to prevent myself from getting countered

All good, I figured it out. XD
i love this faction!
i absolutely adore how they look!
it's only fraction that i care about, if i think about it 🤔 i just think they look cool
I really care about DWG for some reason.
always accepting new builders!
26:11 seems like the ai messed up and it’s main jets are underwater so it ain’t smooving
Lol, the flying castle won! 🏰
Note to self. why does every late game faction have shallow water???
@@RorstenVT Do they? I'd assume to troll folks who like to use submarines. XD

Yay! Glad to hear it! Nope, SS are still coming. 😁
When do you usally stream?
Also I love you content and build guides.
Cheers, glad to hear it!

@@Rebentium Make sure the vehicle spawn category is set correctly, and it's not set to specifically ships, planes, fortresses, structures etc.
@BorderWise12 600 hours in the game and its the first time I have seen that...
Thanks.
Great white and good cram don’t match
Yeah, her CRAM 'ain't great. I used her as a way of showing that low velocity weapons tend to miss LH craft a lot.
@ it has 2d Tetris 🤢
How do you get your water to look like that?
