I pulled one of these in Utah years ago the BLM owned it. It had 12 blades. 12 feet wide blades. Would fill with water. They use expensive grinders now. I got 50 an acre 250 acre contracts, did several carried fire extinguishers and 5 gal water. Caught fire twice. At night when finished would dump water in belly pan. Pain to move and get setup but fun to run.
Hi there Steve< I just stumbled onto your page, first visit here, within 20 seconds I was hooked...your narration of the land clearing technique was perfect, you’ve got the voice.
you all prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid lost my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Rey Felix I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Wow, I had a buddy that had one similar way back that he pulled with a skidder? I always wondered how that worked and figured it would knock your fillings loose. Plus the logistics of moving that equipment? I like your narration, you sound kind of like Shorty Medlocke, "ole Ring, and Ole Tige and Ole Rover"
You’re the shit man! I’m looking to pick up an offset disc and we’re building a spear for my 550k right now. Gotta show them mulching boys what cleared land actually looks like!
Hard on the equipment is correct.. Dude that is a serious set up... Transportation would be a slight bit of a problem ..that High track and that chopper , BAM
You diffidently don’t see many choppers around! Did run one 10 years ago on hedges in sandy soil and it did a good job!! Had to work on the dozer more than the chopper!!! 🤣
I sold a set of B-10 Mardens to the Mormon Ranch in Deer Park Florida , Double drums with an offset capacity similar to the offset of the Rome harrow, I was pulling them clearing right-of-ways for Florida Power and light. The Mormons tried pulling them with a Steiger Bearcat but finally had to split the twin drums and make a single set of choppers out of them. If You have something big enough to pull them with I made some GOOD money with FP&L.
Really good insights as to using the various implements in combination/succession. How far do you go within and out of Florida, and what's the acreage you need to contract to clean up in order to make an out of state job worth your while? Also, if someone is planning on using the natural re- vegetation process, letting the old seed bank of bahia, Bermuda, clovers, etc. germinate to make pasture, how long will it require for germination after disking 16 inches deep? We have an old harrow that was my dad's, I think it's a Rome, but very old and rusty and not nearly the size of yours. Havent used it in years since we got the pasture sod established here where we live now, but was wondering because we might be moving and some places with overgrown past clearcuts are available on the market.
I built a v plow attached to the front of a D 7 cat that looks like a snow plow similar to a k g blade like grader mold board with a t 1 steel beveled cutting edge but v shaped cuts both sides it goes under the ground cutting the roots and Windows scrub like your working then take loader with rake pile an burn, the plow is 13 feet wide acts like a Web plow
Hi Steve I’m 21 been around machines all my life father had a construction business. I’m very interested in the land clearing aspect when working with machines is there any tips that would help a young guy like me try and get into this business
Go slow and stay as close to debt free as possible, when you think you aren't getting anywhere look back in 5 year increments and you will see your progress, equipment depends on the land, don't get what the other folks have, study what is needed then make/buy that, remember a LOT of business does not make a lot of money, a LOT of money makes a LOT of money, if you can do what others can not do you can price accordingly, sell 5 timex watchs a day or one rolex a month, best of luck to you sir, old man told me long time ago, son ya can chop down a redwood with a spoon---If you WANT TOO
I have been in clearing land business for around 50 years done it all the biggest problem you'll run into clearing land is the cost of keeping equiptment up ,,an dealing with people an them trying to tell you what a job they think will cost especially the ranchers an farmers ,,don't let them determine your price they'll break you.. an don't buy off brand equiptment you can't get parts for
Mr Billy it will follow the dozer, if dozer can go over it and break trunk then chopper will follow, 99% time trees are gone and were doing smaller stuff like 6'' and down, it is great on re-growth like in this video,
Stumbled upon this ,nice video and coulld listen to this guy all day long .
Thanks Mr. Pete
I was thinking the same thing, but in a good way. He can talk, it’s a gift. I bet he’s a heck of a business man.
Seeing people take land that has been lost and overgrown and make something out of it is very interesting to me. I like your videos
thanks for the kind words
Thank you for the great video. Very fascinating to see.
Thanks for watching Mr Bob

wow sounds like hell to build but well worth the effort once got it going, thanks
What's a few things or anything that you found unexpectedly while doing this land clearing?
cars-tractors-septic tanks-grave yard, sinkhole etc
What did you do when you found the graveyard? Sinkhole, isn't that dangerous for a dozer?

My grandfather invented the rolling chopper. Similar to this but different.
More like individual blades instead of one piece.I have the patent.

Northern Minnesota.
What is the disc spacing on the harrow
was 14 inches I think --sold it and old folks have memory trouble lol
Are they even effective ?
Everything has it's place Mr Dino
that would ruin a pythons day if it got run over
No doubt
Good riddance to bad rubish
where is the diesel sound ?
Does running that drum chopper cause extra wear and tear on your dozer? That's a hard working machine right there!
Not only on the dozer but on my old azz also thanks for watching
