    Good summary and probably pretty accurate for those who stay put in one place. But Having talked to expats here who are long-term in the Philippines, most include travel in their annual plans and say it’s better to budget $2500 to $3000 to account for months when you have big expenses, such as flying home to see family or heading out with your loved one to another country for vacation break.

    Hello Gio and Mia. You cannot go wrong (in my opinion) with a budget video. Inspiring to see your honeymoon "gentile/healthy" bickering over one another's vises and (known) secrets...stay strong and faithful towards (one another) your loves, guys, Blessings. As an Expat in waiting, I am more apt to click on content regarding economic means towards living/residing the Philippines over a travel vlog emphasizing a week or month visit. Not to diminish the importance of "sampling" the Philippines before settling on staying. I have viewed each of your budget videos to include the ones featuring guest and sauntering or chilling along the Boulevard. Been with you for a long time Gio and you have (in my opinion) not missed a beat with regards to providing useful information to potential ExPat's for a healthy, safe, clean life residing in the Philippines solo or cohabitating. Keep up the good work and when I arrive in the Philippines, hopefully I will have a chance to thank you in person.

    Very good cost of living video. My wife and I (if we remove the cost of our condo which we are paying as much off on every month as we have left over) figure out our cost of living in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga and we can live pretty good on $1,000.00 - $1,200.00 (Canadian) per month. Once the condo is paid off that cost of living will be very comfortable.

I hear a lot of bloggers say dont come out to the Philippines unless you can afford $3,000 a month. that is a bunch of BS, I coming out alone, I know I can live well on $1,500 a month, now my retirement is much higher then that, but I want to save so I can take trips around Asia.

      $3000 a month for us in the philippines involved airbnb, multiple hotels, 4 flights for 2 people, 17 islands, eating and drinking out daily and getting drunk and partying plus karaoke every weekend.
      Its definitely easy to blow money but if you're just enjoying life like someone who lives here and not just on vacation 3k is kinda hard to spend unless you're hiring full time staff

    The most asked questions is how much do I need in the Philippines? This is a great budget video for the average guy with a wife/girlfriend and supports 2-4 people. Yes, you can live much cheaper, but you also want to live comfortably. This is a great budget video for someone that doesn’t pinch pennies and also doesn’t live too extravagantly. I think that this will be the budget range for the vast majority of us.

    Summing up your declared expenses I ended up with around 125k if you split up and include the 2000 USD 6 monthly travel expense and I believe your wife must send some money to her family as well so all in all I think 2,000-2,500 USD could be the in the ball park. 2,000 USD only for 2 people for 10 days in Japan plus 2 days travel was a really good deal.

    Great Video Gio and Maya. It’s good to have these kind of videos every six months or so to see how the prices are in the Philippines. I will be coming to permanently live with my fiancé in Cebu City in early 2025.
    Would it be possible for you to do a budget video with someone who has more money to spend in the Philippines. It would be helpful to learn from someone who has a budget of $3500-$4000/month to see what higher end living is like. When I was in Cebu City in July-October of 2023 I was able to live very well by myself for about $1500 but when I go back for good I will be able to afford twice that amount as I have been blessed recently. If you can interview someone who lives in the higher income bracket that would be great as they give more information and ideas on what to do and where to go. I’ve been to the Philippines 9 times and my first wife was from Bulacan so I know the Philippines pretty well but I’d like to see how more of the wealthy live and what they budget for.
    Thanks again for the information on your latest budget video.

I would like to emphasize one point - foreigners that fall into the middle class, or even lower middle class in the US will have a lot more discretionary spending in the Philippines. That equates to a better lifestyle for them and their Filipina partner. And the biggest savings is always around housing, or rent - heck, my HOA fees are more than what you guys are paying in rent.

    Don't get too upset about the exchange rate, I can remember it being about 7:1 when I was last there.
    On the other hand, that was over 40 years ago when I was on Westpac.
    I just looked it up - it was 7.something that year.

  • @bigdog4342
    @bigdog4342 6 дней назад +1

    You should add your average cost for any trips back to USA, even if only every 3 years or so. My total is about $6-8,000 per trip including airfare and buying dinners for family cuz I don't want to be a burden on them. If you are older like me, then I spend an average of $200 per month for prescription meds, vitamins, and supplements. Without my own Motorbike, I spend about $80 per month for Grab Cars or Taxis going out once per week to the Mall for Groceries and restaurants. My monthly groceries, etc is a bit higher - includes all household. Also partners nails, pedicures, hair, etc. Include any assistance for Family on a regular basis, or as needed for elderly parents. Didn't see any expenses for school supplies, tuition, lunches, etc.

    • @GiointhePhilippines
