Question: Where on this equation do you draw a line to make this equation *EQUAL* ? Contestants: Add a line to not make it equal HAFU GO: Your genius shall be unmatched
@@morenahernandez6122 I know, I was confused on why they said square roots *cuz aren't you supposed to take them in 7th grade* Also it depends on the school,my friend's sister's school considers grade 5 as mid school
5:25 Here you clearly said the word "equation" , but they put the "not equals to" sign so now it is no longer an equation, it has become an "inequality" therefore the answer is wrong.
Hi there Just some input on the Math question. Notice how Hafu Go asked to make this equation EQUAL. Which means both sides has to result in the same value. In this case, when the Yale students put the following, 5+5+5+5 (not equal sign) 555, they are actually wrong given the question asks for equal values on both sides. 5+5+5+5 is not the same as 555. However, if the question asked the students to make the equation TRUE, instead of EQUAL, then yes the solution given is correct. Strictly and IMO, only one student qualified over that round. Though great job! I would have never thought of solving it the provided way. Kudos to them for thinking out of the box!
Which number follows the pattern? All of them: 19 and all of them are (partially) wrong, since a definite sequence of N numbers doesn't determine the N+1th number in the sequence. The correct answer would actually be ANY NUMBER. This may seem counter-intuitive, but in order to ascertain the following number, you would need to know the function of the sequence, which doesn't necessarily have to be in terms of y=f(n); n is the element of natural numbers. Nevertheless, without knowing this, you can calculate the following number. And yes, mathematically speaking, all IQ tests that involve these questions are kind of wrong.
The "≠" sign should not be a possible answer to question 8. The question was clear: add one line to "5+5+5+5" in order for it to equal 555. Drawing one line through the "=" sign correctly shows that 5+5+5+5 does NOT equal 555, but it doesn't make both sides of the equation equivalent; that's the literal definition of the "≠" sign. Did I miss something? What don't I know here?
Yeah, the way he asked the question isn't good. If you add the line, you can make the equation true (5+5+5+5 is different from 555) but you don't make it equal to 555, which is what he asked (as he said "equal to this" while pointing at 555).
I thought maybe "The Universe" was the time-keeping device with the most moving parts. I think that that answer can maybe be justified. Also, if you consider that light is also a particle, than for a sundial to work requires like a lot lot lot of moving parts to work. Since you need to see light for it to work and there are just 10^lots of photons in even like a square cm of area.

Meh, it's more of a riddle than an actual question with a single correct answer, you can define the Earth as a timepiece that gives a period of exactly one day, or you can define the galaxy as a timepiece that gives a period of whatever one rotation of the galaxy takes. I suppose you could also define the whole universe as a timepiece, it boils down to how you define it.
Number 10: My answer was "stars"... it has been a timepiece throughout history and there are billions upon billions of them... An Hourglass can consist of two particles if for example you wanted to time 0,00000000000001 of a second ;)
Yep, I was thinking about the same. Like we use the movement of the earth around the sun as a measure of time( a year)… what could stop us from using greater systems ? Then I realized, that answer would make me lose , because I cannot confidently state which motion would be the biggest (with more moving parts).
I only missed the plasma. I think the last answer could be The Universe. We used The Sun and other objects earlier than anything to measure time, but I can not decide is it made or not.
I’m not a Yale student or in Ivy League but damn I answered 9/10 except the question no.1 because I’m a Filipino. Please give me that fucking scholarships!
Number 10's answer is wrong for a couple of reasons. First of all, an hourglass is a timer, not necessarily time-keeping. If it kept time, it would tell you the time of day. Furthermore, hourglasses are relatively small, meaning that they have less moving parts than most clocks at the atomic level.
Hey, you should tell us about what type of music you listen to from workout to study, etc. As well, what shows and youtube videos you enjoy watching and think are beneficial.
That handful of sand needs gravity to be moved and everything in the universe pull the dust towards its direction so all the universe makes the sand fall down the way it falls
Yeah I was thinking of that too, neither the sundial or the hourglass works without the entire universe having some effect on it but which has more moving parts? When taken as a separate entity the hour glass would work with just the earths influence ( yes the moon sun and everything do have some pull but probably not enough to have a noticeable effect) , the sundial requires the sun and earth in motion to work at all.
@@Nicks721 The earth is also pulling and shifting the sun very very slightly and we are all speeding through the galaxy at over 700,000kph. A sundial will not work without the earth and the sun in motion so again I argue that a sundial has more moving parts than an hourglass

Question: Which timepiece has the most moving parts?
Me: That big clock thingi
Answer: Hourglass
Me: same thing
I said the sun
8:34
Actually a phone has much more moving parts than an hour glass, it has tons of photons that move inside of it.
And electrons

You’re early but not early enough ;)
@@hafu l m a o yeah but I can assure you that I'll be even earlier next time
Sundial makes more sense to me too, all matter in the solar system is moving to get a time measurement not just a handful of sand.
@@Kellier1916 only the earth in motion
@@Nicks721 The earth is also pulling and shifting the sun very very slightly and we are all speeding through the galaxy at over 700,000kph. A sundial will not work without the earth and the sun in motion so again I argue that a sundial has more moving parts than an hourglass
I want more content like this !
