My autistic son broke his ipad 2 mini screen that he uses for school with the speech app he needs to communicate and I didn't have the money to replace it with a new one. After buying a replacement screen kit from Amazon for $19.99 I followed your very clear and super helpful instructions just pausing it at every stage while I took my time. I did magnetise a screwdriver which helped enormously when putting the screws back in and I used my hairdryer which really made a difference getting the glass off. Thank you again for taking the time to make this video you have helped so many people by doing so and a huge high five from my son as he is up and running again :) :) :)

I change my iPad mini 2 touchscreen last night, thanks to you and few others RUclipsrs! here is from my experience: -if you get fingerprints on the LCD, you can remove it by rubbing alcohol on a microfiber cloth (or at least tissue), then gently wipe the LCD. it won't be the same, but almost unnoticeable -BE CAREFUL of scratching your LCD when opening the screen! I scratch mine, but it is still working properly, albeit you can see the scratch -be mindful of your screws. I lost two of them, but they still work properly. I found them later on after I put the glue on, and too lazy to reopen it lol. hopefully, it won't be a problem
Thank you so much for posting the video I have an iPad mini 2 a 1490 and my kids broke the screen so I ordered a digitizer followed your instructions to the tea got all the way to testing it out and realized that the LCD was also damaged in the fall so now I have to order an LCD and hopefully that will take care of the problem but I really enjoyed your video and the fact that I was able to follow along with replacing the screen and will finish when the new LCD arrives

Tried following a different video but it wasn't quite right, wrong number of screws, thought I was going to break the LCD screen. This one was perfect, even naming the model numbers, showed the stage I was struggling with, I just needed to peel back the two stickers. Really handy, thanks for making it.
It was a little late for me, but thanks for taking the time to mention cutting the tape at the bottom of the screen in order to flip the lcd, at least 2 other disassembly videos skipped that crucial part, ended up cracking my lcd, but i was able to recover the data I needed off of it.

Ugh. Bought new battery and digitizer and followed the vid. I was extremely careful with the lcd and removed it like you showed. It had no damage. When I put everything back together, I don’t have any LCD backlight. 1) yes, I powered it off before working on it. 2) yes, I checked and reseated all the cables multiple times. 3) yes, I checked the pins and sockets and all are good. 4) when I plug in the charger, it makes the ding sound. 5) superbright led flashlight shows LCD works with no backlight. 6) Seeing a lot of comments for similar problem, I think cutting the digitizer cable short circuited something and damaged the lcd. Recommend not cutting the cable and just waiting to take it off with the LCD. Now, if I get a replacement LCD, no guarantee it will work because the display chip may have gotten fried. Out $65 to need to spend more money for “maybe”. Highly recommend NOT cutting the digitizer cable. It’s a gamble. Got you ....ive never had a problem done it on literally 100’s of iPads maybe I just got lucky. Sounds like yes you shorted something out. The tools you used were they a set you bought if Amazon gotta be careful on touching tools to other components in phone also have you tried a hard reset on the iPad... I would definitely try a hard reset hold own the home and power button for like a min... Also hold a flashlight up to the screen after you tap the power button sometimes the screen will go extremely dim and you have to use a flashlight to see the screen and turn up the brightness try that and see if that’s helps ive just never had a problem before cutting the digitizer I always like to check all options hopefully it’s just super dim it just needs a rest plz let me know before you try to get a new lcd
my screen replacement kit is coming on the 14 and this video made me feel less nervous about the whole process, definitely going to re watch it then :)
Most important thing is just take your time and be gentle it’s not hard. Every time I made a mistake I was rushing or used to much force, electronics are fragile espically once you start to open them.you can do it
Thank you for doing this video. I kept listening to it as I went thru these steps mostly because of the soothing, calming voice. Tips: separate your screws by size or job if you're a beginner. Could you maybe run thru the tools by name and identify them for slower people (me). Also, i had dented one of my corners,too. I saw another video on this topic (but his voice wasn't comforting) but he said try a small flathead screwdriver and gently pry the dent out. I did. Miracles ensued! Absolutely and yes I will definitely, do all of it on the next one thank you so much for your feedback. Not a big fan of using the screwdriver on corners but sometimes that’s your only option
Sometimes it sucks, depending on how danger the screen is just be careful and go slow keep heating and prying take breaks if you need to just don’t rush it or apply to much heat on the land for very long. But you can do it

Great video thanks for sharing. My problem is that it didn't fire up but pushing the power and home worked however I have a series of vertical multi colored lines about an inch wide on one side. Does that mean the LCD is SHOT? Thanks for your expertise.
Thanks I was successful to replace shattered screen of ipad mini 2 for 20 bucks and 2 hours of my time that local fix guys asked for 199. My job was not perfect but now i can use ipad again that I almost gave up on.

Dang yeah that suck since it’s the lcd you gotta be careful. Yeah bigger screwdriver Super glue the screw driver Put a rubber band in the striped hole and twist If you have a drill that forms a triangle at the top you can try to force it over and pull out I small pair of pliers turning the screw driver head Or even if you can get a pair of snips to cut the screw in half, just be careful about touching metal parts you can fry things over done a lot of stuff to get them out
@@elitesportsmedia thanks for the tips! I just got it out now. I used my dremel and a really small engraving bit to make a groove in the head and used a flathead screwdriver instead of the shitty Phillips one.
@@elitesportsmedia yeah I usually use a cut off disc to make the groove on bolts when I work on cars etc but it was scary close to the lcd this time so engraving bit felt safer. Guys like you make the world a better place one video at a time, thank you for uploading stuff like this.
What is the best width of the 3M Tape to use on the A1432? I found several sellers at Ebay that sells the "phone repair kits" with tools, etc, but the several sellers offering different widths of tape from 1mm to 3mm. The vid you linked below is no longer. Hi Tim, Thanks for the video. Unfortunately something happened and LCD is not working now. I have followed step by step, the only step I mixed up was unplugging the LCD before the battery, apart from that, I did all the same. Any ideas why it's not turning on? I have checked the 3 connectors 100 times. Thanks again.
I watched about half the video, I skipped parts, but I just replaced digitizer, lcd and battery. I broke the lcd, I was being VERY careful but I think I flexed it ever so slightly when I laid it back to unplug. Wow are those things brittle.
Good video buddy...Could you tell me or show me the final position of the touch flex when you attach the touch to the ipad? it is just because I tried to replace mine and screwed up the flex when I attached the touch to the ipad so I do not know if maybe that flex was too large..would you recomend any provider in amazon or ebay which sells good quality touch? thanks in advance
I have a problem with my a1490, the screen is perfectly working but doesn't seat flushed in the bottom right because there's a folded cable in it(Idk what it is called but it's part of the digitizer, it's beside the flex cable) and it is hitting against the antenna on the right that's why it doesn't seat flushed. What should I do?
If you can open it back up and look at the old screen you took off it folds up against the screen let me see if I can find a link or a pic but I know what your talking about
Is there a way to tell before you disassemble the entire iPad if the LCD screen is broken as well? After I replace the digitizer I learned that the LCD was cracked and was not showing a picture and during disassemble the LCD did not bend or crack I was very gentle. This was damage done by the fall
Yep somehow the lcd had too much strain on it, and it’s damaged. It should still work but now you need to replace the lcd to get it back to 100% they are fairly cheap send me model number and I will send you a link
Most you do not, the touch ones you do if you wanna keep finger print 90% of the people that I’ve fixed for do not care and it’s easier to order with home button. If your really into the fingerprint scanner than yes you gotta
ah i bought a couple ipad mini 2s off of ebay for really cheap and i hope to make one good one. one has perfect glass, water damaged LCD but good motherboard, while the other has shattered glass, likely good LCD (was being sold as is so i hope it is) but was IC locked when i looked up the serial. however it cost me like $40 total for them which i can easily make a profit off of if the repair goes well
Yeah I wish I knew how to unlock the IC, I know how to jailbreak but it’s only good till you have to update and I have bypassed the password but only for a short time

Yes all you really need is a new lcd, and a digitizer. If you will send me your model number I’ll get you prices, you can also order a set of iPad screws from eBay or amazon. That’s messed up they won’t refund it, that’s not right send me the model number
Great video, and very informative, however, I ran into one small issue, I replaced the screen step by step of your video, only problem is the touch isn’t working only the home button
The best thing to do is open it back up reconnect the digitizer a couple times you might have a bad digitizer, look at the connections look real close at the connection there should be gold connections make sure none of them are missing
for anyone attempting this, make sure your replacement screen has the sleep/wake sensor. i think it's integrated into the screen cable, then solder points, and goes to the home button.
This is a great tutorial and I fixed my iPad mini just fine with this! The screen is kinda loose after putting it back in and I’m scared it’s going to fall out. Any suggestions on how to tighten it up?
Double sided tape, is the best option, you might have to warm it up again and re lay the tap make sure you get all the old tape off so it makes a secure hold to the iPad frame

Usally less than hour espically if done it before, if there’s a bunch of tiny glass I can see 2-3 hrs easy espically if you take you time and don’t rush . But I would say as long as you don’t run i to any hiccups hr to hr and half
I’ve replaced the digitizer, but still no luck recognizing touch. I’ve tried re-seating the cables 3-4 times, but no change. It’s a 1489 that literally fell from standing on its side to falling over on the screen. No visible damage to previous digitizer or lcd. Please let me know if you can think of anything else to check.
Great video Thanks helped me perfectly every step also I used the extra tape which other videos don’t recommend. Pretty easy fix when you take your time .
Not on this repair maybe if you were soldering or using a heat gun close over components for extended period of time I have a roll used it once never again
Good morning, Tim. I replaced a screen last night at the fire department, and when I checked to make sure it worked after connecting the LCD and digitizer, I had a thick white bar from top to bottom. It came on, but that bar of death was there. Do you know how that may have happened? I thought I was very careful. Thanks✊🏾✊🏾

So I fixed the screen, when I turned it on it had red and green light on the left side of the iPad. Now it’s pitch black but when I plug it in, you can hear the charging sound. Do I have to replace lcd now too or just replace digitiser again because with new replacement turned out to be faulty ??
Well if you can’t see the lcd then it might be bad, I would turn your phones flashlight up to the screen sometimes the brightness gets turned down 100% and you can’t see it unless you put a flashlight up to it the lcd should be showing something if it’s pitch black try the flashlight method
I usually get a small file and scrape the dented area out so that screen will sit flush. With that breach in the adhesive, screen is more likely to work it's way open.(especially with young children)
I'll be trying this out soon after treading on my ipad mini. The bit i'm worried about is taking a heat gun to the ipad. It seems a very counter-intuitive thing to do. Is there a risk of melting something important in the ipad?
Your holding it on there only briefly and no, these iPads can take some serious heat, you don’t have to use a heat gun or hair dryer it will just make to process 10x harder , I guess what I’m saying is it will help a lot on getting the digitizer off but you don’t have to use it. The iPad can handle a lot of heat espically around the edges. I’ve never damaged an iPad ever by doing this by the way. I use to do it with a hair dryer and that took forever if you don’t use any heat it will just be difficult but it can be done
@@elitesportsmedia Thanks Tim. Done and dusted. Well not dusted quite enough as there's a few little smudges showing, but infinitely better than a cracked screen. The tricky parts..... First, it was quite a struggle removing the glass. The pry tools that I had weren't thin enough I think. In the end I managed it by using a little suction gadget to lift the screen a little to get plectrums in. The LCD was reluctant to lift too and one of the corner screw holes fell off in the tussle. The screws are really really tiny and my screwdriver wasn't magnetised. As a result a few screws went missing in action. When brushing the LCD some glue was swept across the screen from the edge. This looked disastrous, but I was able to remove it with a microfibre cloth. The connector on the screen that I bought was helpfully folded ready to be inserted. But this confused me because it looked different to other opened up ones that you see on RUclips videos. So I was flummoxed by that for quite some time. My screen was supplied with adhesive strips where you lift off non-adhesive plastic to get to the sticky bit. Achieving the separation was outrageously tricky and I think it was when I was doing this that I smudged the screen. After getting glue on the LCD when using the brush, I switched to using an air puffer which was safer for me. I went way over the anticipated time for the job, but I am very pleased to have my iPad mini up and running again and with the various parts MIA I may now have the lightest ipad mini in the world.. At least I couldn't see any and I don't know what I did to the lcd but it's like got something along the lines of shapes on it, I assume I damaged it but it still works fine and is bearable, I just wanted to repair the cracked glass and then get an Android tablet and sell this for something fairly cheap
Ok yeah that glued might have seeped in a little, and is causing that damage espically if it’s around the sides where you put the glue. It should be fine not sure how well it will hold if it gets hot?

It would have been rediculously close to the lcd, but I immediately applied pressure on all sides, it doesn't seem to move or make a snap noise indicating its been set back into place.... Odd, I found your video very informative though, helped a lot, although the heatsheild. I treated delicately and spent a lot of time on it, I guess saying what to be careful around and what u can be pretty hands on with would help, but thanks!
@@elitesportsmedia I’m going to share this with you. I just opened the iPad mini A1432 using the heat mat. . For the settings, use iPad mode, set to the temperature to 70c, and place the iPad on the mat for 2-3 minutes max so it would not damage the internal hardware. You can use a suction cup and use those picks. It easily comes off plus you will have less mess to worry about.
Tim, Awesome video! I got the screen swapped out. Worked perfect.... for 6 hours. Now the screen is not responding. Buttons work but touching screen is not. Any ideas? I took it apart and unplugged them and reconnected them. Same issue. Thanks for any advice!
I would of done the same thing, you could of just got a bad screen, does your other screen still function at all. If it does even if it’s cracked I would put it on and test it out. Then put the new one back on I really feel like you got a faulty screen and need to get a refund or replacement I can send you a link of a screen to get I don’t have many problems with these guys let me know the models.

I’ve got an iPad mini from around 2014 that’s been sitting around broken for probably 5 years now, I want to fix it but not too sure where to start bc I don’t know what’s exactly wrong with it, but it broke in the first place when my sister dropped it and the screen broke, we tried fixing it ourselves at home and the iPad has been broken since, any suggestions ? See if it will charge, if the lcd powers on and you can see the screen, then you will need a digitizer probably $15.. if you can’t see the screen then you need lcd as well so $30 and if digitizer is cracked that will be $45. You can hook it up to your computer to see if it’s even worth fixing if it says an iPad is commented then it might be worth it. If you plug into computer and get nothing I’d just get another one. But definitely if interested in fixin it I would try charging for a couple hours then plugging into computer to see if you get anything

Thx added a new screen..Everything worked great except the battery doesn’t charge and my computer doesn’t recognize my device..I must’ve damaged the charging port to the logic board..somehow.. When putting that metal cover over the connections, I used a long screw and it took the little housing off the logic board.. I glued it back.. that’s probably the problem..let me know..thx
Tim Wetzel I’m thinking that when I glued the little post for the little cover, it might be interfering with the motherboard (logicboard) or maybe the longer screw that lifted the little post off went into something under it, shorting it out..I got a brand new battery..IPad works great but it still won’t charge and my ITunes doesn’t see it..once battery dies, it’ll be useless..got to be the charging port to logic board..🤔
hi I replaced my screen and the adhesive is coming off and there's issues with the touch and it does things on its own and isn't responding at all to touch, I'm trying to get adhesive for the iPad but would that fix the issue?
If it’s touching on it’s own it’s usally a damaged digitizer, you can try reconnecting the digitizer and just lay it down and see if it works right without pushing down on the adhesive

It was a little late for me, but thanks for taking the time to mention cutting the tape at the bottom of the screen in order to flip the lcd, at least 2 other disassembly videos skipped that crucial part, ended up cracking my lcd, but i was able to recover the data I needed off of it.

Ugh. Bought new battery and digitizer and followed the vid. I was extremely careful with the lcd and removed it like you showed. It had no damage. When I put everything back together, I don’t have any LCD backlight.
1) yes, I powered it off before working on it.
2) yes, I checked and reseated all the cables multiple times.
3) yes, I checked the pins and sockets and all are good.
4) when I plug in the charger, it makes the ding sound.
5) superbright led flashlight shows LCD works with no backlight.
6) Seeing a lot of comments for similar problem, I think cutting the digitizer cable short circuited something and damaged the lcd. Recommend not cutting the cable and just waiting to take it off with the LCD.
Now, if I get a replacement LCD, no guarantee it will work because the display chip may have gotten fried. Out $65 to need to spend more money for “maybe”.
Highly recommend NOT cutting the digitizer cable. It’s a gamble.
This video calls out to not even disconnect the digitizer or lcd cable until the battery cable is disconnected.

Got you ....ive never had a problem done it on literally 100’s of iPads maybe I just got lucky. Sounds like yes you shorted something out. The tools you used were they a set you bought if Amazon gotta be careful on touching tools to other components in phone also have you tried a hard reset on the iPad...
I would definitely try a hard reset hold own the home and power button for like a min...
Also hold a flashlight up to the screen after you tap the power button sometimes the screen will go extremely dim and you have to use a flashlight to see the screen and turn up the brightness try that and see if that’s helps ive just never had a problem before cutting the digitizer I always like to check all options hopefully it’s just super dim it just needs a rest plz let me know before you try to get a new lcd

Most important thing is just take your time and be gentle it’s not hard. Every time I made a mistake I was rushing or used to much force, electronics are fragile espically once you start to open them.you can do it

Thank you for doing this video. I kept listening to it as I went thru these steps mostly because of the soothing, calming voice. Tips: separate your screws by size or job if you're a beginner. Could you maybe run thru the tools by name and identify them for slower people (me). Also, i had dented one of my corners,too. I saw another video on this topic (but his voice wasn't comforting) but he said try a small flathead screwdriver and gently pry the dent out. I did. Miracles ensued! Sometimes it sucks, depending on how danger the screen is just be careful and go slow keep heating and prying take breaks if you need to just don’t rush it or apply to much heat on the land for very long. But you can do it

Thanks I was successful to replace shattered screen of ipad mini 2 for 20 bucks and 2 hours of my time that local fix guys asked for 199. My job was not perfect but now i can use ipad again that I almost gave up on.

Put a rubber band in the striped hole and twist
If you have a drill that forms a triangle at the top you can try to force it over and pull out
I small pair of pliers turning the screw driver head
Or even if you can get a pair of snips to cut the screw in half, just be careful about touching metal parts you can fry things over done a lot of stuff to get them out
@@elitesportsmedia thanks for the tips! I just got it out now. I used my dremel and a really small engraving bit to make a groove in the head and used a flathead screwdriver instead of the shitty Phillips one.

What is the best width of the 3M Tape to use on the A1432? I found several sellers at Ebay that sells the "phone repair kits" with tools, etc, but the several sellers offering different widths of tape from 1mm to 3mm. The vid you linked below is no longer.

I have followed step by step, the only step I mixed up was unplugging the LCD before the battery, apart from that, I did all the same. Any ideas why it's not turning on? I watched about half the video, I skipped parts, but I just replaced digitizer, lcd and battery. I broke the lcd, I was being VERY careful but I think I flexed it ever so slightly when I laid it back to unplug. Wow are those things brittle.

How did it go?
I have a problem with my a1490, the screen is perfectly working but doesn't seat flushed in the bottom right because there's a folded cable in it(Idk what it is called but it's part of the digitizer, it's beside the flex cable) and it is hitting against the antenna on the right that's why it doesn't seat flushed. What should I do?
If you can open it back up and look at the old screen you took off it folds up against the screen let me see if I can find a link or a pic but I know what your talking about

Is there a way to tell before you disassemble the entire iPad if the LCD screen is broken as well? After I replace the digitizer I learned that the LCD was cracked and was not showing a picture and during disassemble the LCD did not bend or crack I was very gentle. This was damage done by the fall

Yep somehow the lcd had too much strain on it, and it’s damaged. It should still work but now you need to replace the lcd to get it back to 100% they are fairly cheap send me model number and I will send you a link

ah i bought a couple ipad mini 2s off of ebay for really cheap and i hope to make one good one. one has perfect glass, water damaged LCD but good motherboard, while the other has shattered glass, likely good LCD (was being sold as is so i hope it is) but was IC locked when i looked up the serial. however it cost me like $40 total for them which i can easily make a profit off of if the repair goes well

Yes all you really need is a new lcd, and a digitizer. If you will send me your model number I’ll get you prices, you can also order a set of iPad screws from eBay or amazon. That’s messed up they won’t refund it, that’s not right send me the model number
Great video, and very informative, however, I ran into one small issue, I replaced the screen step by step of your video, only problem is the touch isn’t working only the home button
Have you taped it back yet?
The best thing to do is open it back up reconnect the digitizer a couple times you might have a bad digitizer, look at the connections look real close at the connection there should be gold connections make sure none of them are missing

for anyone attempting this, make sure your replacement screen has the sleep/wake sensor. i think it's integrated into the screen cable, then solder points, and goes to the home button.
This is a great tutorial and I fixed my iPad mini just fine with this! The screen is kinda loose after putting it back in and I’m scared it’s going to fall out. Any suggestions on how to tighten it up?
Double sided tape, is the best option, you might have to warm it up again and re lay the tap make sure you get all the old tape off so it makes a secure hold to the iPad frame

How long did this repair take in REAL time? Looks like a TON of work with a very low likelihood of success. I would never try to do this myself.
Usally less than hour espically if done it before, if there’s a bunch of tiny glass I can see 2-3 hrs easy espically if you take you time and don’t rush . But I would say as long as you don’t run i to any hiccups hr to hr and half
I’ve replaced the digitizer, but still no luck recognizing touch. I’ve tried re-seating the cables 3-4 times, but no change. It’s a 1489 that literally fell from standing on its side to falling over on the screen. No visible damage to previous digitizer or lcd. Please let me know if you can think of anything else to check.

Good morning, Tim. I replaced a screen last night at the fire department, and when I checked to make sure it worked after connecting the LCD and digitizer, I had a thick white bar from top to bottom. It came on, but that bar of death was there. Do you know how that may have happened? I thought I was very careful. Thanks✊🏾✊🏾

Not always just depends on what your working on , tablets and iPads you don’t phones you usually do
So I fixed the screen, when I turned it on it had red and green light on the left side of the iPad. Now it’s pitch black but when I plug it in, you can hear the charging sound. Do I have to replace lcd now too or just replace digitiser again because with new replacement turned out to be faulty ??
Well if you can’t see the lcd then it might be bad, I would turn your phones flashlight up to the screen sometimes the brightness gets turned down 100% and you can’t see it unless you put a flashlight up to it the lcd should be showing something if it’s pitch black try the flashlight method

I usually get a small file and scrape the dented area out so that screen will sit flush. With that breach in the adhesive, screen is more likely to work it's way open.(especially with young children)

I'll be trying this out soon after treading on my ipad mini. The bit i'm worried about is taking a heat gun to the ipad. It seems a very counter-intuitive thing to do. Is there a risk of melting something important in the ipad?
Your holding it on there only briefly and no, these iPads can take some serious heat, you don’t have to use a heat gun or hair dryer it will just make to process 10x harder , I guess what I’m saying is it will help a lot on getting the digitizer off but you don’t have to use it. The iPad can handle a lot of heat espically around the edges. I’ve never damaged an iPad ever by doing this by the way. I use to do it with a hair dryer and that took forever if you don’t use any heat it will just be difficult but it can be done
@@elitesportsmedia Thanks Tim. Done and dusted. Well not dusted quite enough as there's a few little smudges showing, but infinitely better than a cracked screen. The tricky parts..... First, it was quite a struggle removing the glass. The pry tools that I had weren't thin enough I think. In the end I managed it by using a little suction gadget to lift the screen a little to get plectrums in. The LCD was reluctant to lift too and one of the corner screw holes fell off in the tussle. The screws are really really tiny and my screwdriver wasn't magnetised. As a result a few screws went missing in action. When brushing the LCD some glue was swept across the screen from the edge. This looked disastrous, but I was able to remove it with a microfibre cloth. The connector on the screen that I bought was helpfully folded ready to be inserted. But this confused me because it looked different to other opened up ones that you see on RUclips videos. So I was flummoxed by that for quite some time. My screen was supplied with adhesive strips where you lift off non-adhesive plastic to get to the sticky bit. Achieving the separation was outrageously tricky and I think it was when I was doing this that I smudged the screen.
After getting glue on the LCD when using the brush, I switched to using an air puffer which was safer for me.
I went way over the anticipated time for the job, but I am very pleased to have my iPad mini up and running again and with the various parts MIA I may now have the lightest ipad mini in the world.. Cheers!

At least I couldn't see any and I don't know what I did to the lcd but it's like got something along the lines of shapes on it, I assume I damaged it but it still works fine and is bearable, I just wanted to repair the cracked glass and then get an Android tablet and sell this for something fairly cheap
Ok yeah that glued might have seeped in a little, and is causing that damage espically if it’s around the sides where you put the glue. It should be fine not sure how well it will hold if it gets hot?

It would have been rediculously close to the lcd, but I immediately applied pressure on all sides, it doesn't seem to move or make a snap noise indicating its been set back into place.... Awesome yes, it can cause serious damage always best to take the screws and lay them out and put them back in the same spot

Great vid but try using a CPB Heating Mat at 70 C so you will able to remove the broken glass easily.

@@elitesportsmedia I’m going to share this with you. I just opened the iPad mini A1432 using the heat mat. . For the settings, use iPad mode, set to the temperature to 70c, and place the iPad on the mat for 2-3 minutes max so it would not damage the internal hardware. You can use a suction cup and use those picks. It easily comes off plus you will have less mess to worry about.

Tim, Awesome video! I got the screen swapped out. Worked perfect.... for 6 hours. Now the screen is not responding. Buttons work but touching screen is not. Any ideas? I took it apart and unplugged them and reconnected them. Same issue. Thanks for any advice!
I would of done the same thing, you could of just got a bad screen, does your other screen still function at all. If it does even if it’s cracked I would put it on and test it out. Then put the new one back on I really feel like you got a faulty screen and need to get a refund or replacement I can send you a link of a screen to get I don’t have many problems with these guys let me know the models.

I’ve got an iPad mini from around 2014 that’s been sitting around broken for probably 5 years now, I want to fix it but not too sure where to start bc I don’t know what’s exactly wrong with it, but it broke in the first place when my sister dropped it and the screen broke, we tried fixing it ourselves at home and the iPad has been broken since, any suggestions ? Thank you
See if it will charge, if the lcd powers on and you can see the screen, then you will need a digitizer probably $15.. if you can’t see the screen then you need lcd as well so $30 and if digitizer is cracked that will be $45. You can hook it up to your computer to see if it’s even worth fixing if it says an iPad is commented then it might be worth it. If you plug into computer and get nothing I’d just get another one. But definitely if interested in fixin it I would try charging for a couple hours then plugging into computer to see if you get anything
@@elitesportsmedia alright, when plugged in it says i can sync data but need to respond on iPad first, so ill take that as its working. but yes nothing is appearing on the screen. so i think ill go and get a new digitiser and lcd yes? thank you. (digitiser is the screen isn't it)

Thx added a new screen..Everything worked great except the battery doesn’t charge and my computer doesn’t recognize my device..I must’ve damaged the charging port to the logic board..somehow..
When putting that metal cover over the connections, I used a long screw and it took the little housing off the logic board.. I glued it back.. that’s probably the problem..let me know..thx

Tim Wetzel I’m thinking that when I glued the little post for the little cover, it might be interfering with the motherboard (logicboard) or maybe the longer screw that lifted the little post off went into something under it, shorting it out..I got a brand new battery..IPad works great but it still won’t charge and my ITunes doesn’t see it..once battery dies, it’ll be useless..got to be the charging port to logic board..🤔

hi I replaced my screen and the adhesive is coming off and there's issues with the touch and it does things on its own and isn't responding at all to touch, I'm trying to get adhesive for the iPad but would that fix the issue?
If it’s touching on it’s own it’s usally a damaged digitizer, you can try reconnecting the digitizer and just lay it down and see if it works right without pushing down on the adhesive
