  • In this video, you’ll find the recitation of Awraad-e-Fatiha from Hazratbal - one of the most revered mosques in Kashmir. The recitation is based on the teachings of Shah Hamdan (Mir Syed Ali Hamdani), who came to Kashmir in 1372 AD to propagate Islam. He belonged to the Kubarvviya order of Sufis. The Awrad-e-Fatihah is a powerful practice that emphasises on the oneness of Almighty Allah and his beautiful attributes from the Holy Quran and Hadith. Due to its significance, Aurad Fatihah is widely popular in Kashmir.
This prayer has been recited every morning in Kashmir for over the 14th century.
Yes, every single morning and in almost all mosques of Kashmir.
As hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris embraced Islam, he devised this prayer which was performed after every dawn prayer in mosques. Many historians suggest it was to fulfil the spiritual need and a means for local Muslims to remember and recite Quranic prayers.
