    Blaming all America's problems on immigrants misses all the internal homegrown problems.

      This interview was not about all of America's problems, it was just a genuine conversation with two people conversating casually.
      Don't read too much into or over analyze things.

    We are in the Midwest and we feel the inflation here. Food prices are soaring and gas price as well. What used to be $80 grocery for the week is now $100 or more nowadays. We used to fill our cars at $25-$30, now it's close to $50...it's crazy.

    Good interview Mark. My wife and I recently bought a house near Bacolod and the process from the first time seeing it, putting down the offer and closing took 3 weeks, incredibly easy. As you know, a lot of things here are more complex and time consuming but this was not one of them. It took us longer to get married than to buy our house.

    I have spent time in California. I prefer almost everywhere else that I have been to California. It is one big homeless shelter where the homeless are not managed well at all. It is dangerous AF. I won't even delve into the cost of living because we all know that it is completely out of control there. It used to be 'the place to be,' and now it is 'the place to leave.'

    No matter how long a couple has been married, it would be wise to include a 25 yr. Lease with a 25yr renewal, JUST in case. If the marriage was to fall apart, you have control of the property.

    During the early 2000's, many California police departments were not prohibited by policy from contacting ICE when legally encountering persons whom were suspected to be in the US illegally. Police Departments began doing directed patrols (think Home Depot parking lots at 7 am) and detaining trespassers (on store property in defiance of store management) by the dozens. ICE would respond to the scene, determine illegal status via electronic fingerprint scan, and then arrest all of those detained. (99.9% of those who were detained). After several months of enforcement action, MANY of those in the country in violation of US immigration laws simply self deported. When they figured out that they couldn't work without getting stopped and arrested, they went back to wherever they came from. The commonly heard mantra of "they are already here, it's impossible to get rid of them" is absolutely inaccurate and is a complete lie. The challenge will be in the blue cities where police department policies prohibit cooperation between city police officers and Federal immigration officers. I would suspect that these blue cities would lose huge chunks of federal funding, of all sorts, as a means to force them into allowing city police officers to cooperate with Federal agents. Also, dropping the enforcement hammer ($$$) on employers in violation of immigration status hiring, is an essential element of a multipronged approach for an effective public policy to force compliance. It will be very interesting to see what happens if President Trump wins a second term.

    US economy seems to be going strong despite of these immigration issues. How is that even possible?

    • @Cj2o
      @Cj2o 16 дней назад

      Because the economy is not solely dependent on immigrants to keep humming.
      Immigrants at best play a large role only on the bottom levels of the economy.

    I like this interview. I agree with that man. The inflation problem, political corruption and the illegal immigration problems are way outta control in the US. The PH is a homogenous country that puts its people first. Imagine if millions of illegal tried to flood the PH. The PH government wouldn’t allow it at all. Any good government knows if the demographics, race and culture changes too much, the country is no more. I live in Baltimore County, MD but near the city. The city is a corrupt, dirty, dangerous craphole. I feel terrible saying it but it’s true as well as in NYC, Chicago and LA. I’ve been to China and Japan in Asia.I would love to move and retire to Europe or Asia someday, whether it’s in Portugal, PH, Thailand or another country. I have to stay in the US at least until I’m 55. At 62, I’ll definitely be moving out of the US. If Biden stays in, things will get much worse. If Trump gets back in, things would get much better very quickly. I hope the PH doesn’t get destroyed with all this diversity stuff in the future. I’d rather move to the PH, meet a beautiful Filipina, get married, have a white asian ethnicity kid and live in paradise for the rest of my life in a clean, safe, uncorrupted country while living on the cheap. 😃

    Inflation is simmering down in the US finally. The Fed will probably cut rates at least once in 2024. Grocery prices are stubbornly high except at Costco.

    He talked about the crazy inflation in California, and then compared the current prices in California to the current prices... In the Philippines. That doesn't tell us anything about California's inflation. I'm sure it's bad, but from what I understand it's not as bad as pretty much all the other developed countries.

      Major mistake is allowing Mexicans to travel to Canada visa free in the first place. But I guess that's part of the design to allow more drugs in. The Mexicans have also been taking advantage by crossing into the US from Canada. I heard they've recently re-imposed a TRV on Mexicans with some exceptions.

    Joseph is right about SoCal. The cost of most things have gone through the roof. I feel like my money is evaporating into thin air. 2 hamburgers at Burger King $20 (no drink, no fries). 1 night for a pet hotel stay for my dog $81.44! Thankfully I bought my home in 2011 when the prices for homes in Los Angeles were still reasonable. I think the hardest hit are new families coming into SoCal. To rent a small 3-4 bedroom house is about $4K/mo and apartments are about $2K/mo. You have to have a serious income plan if you are thinking about SoCal.

    Migration is actually good for our economy. Just look at Japan and many countries in Europe that are dying off due to negative birth rates. Germany just took in millions of Syrians and Ukrainians knowing it’s vital to their survival.
    He seems like a typical privileged boomer who is struggling with some petty issues. Change is inevitable and you have to accept the good with the bad. I’m a boomer in So Cal and love it.
