- Long-time followers of our channel know we love uncovering real-life connections in games, no matter how obscure. In fact, we were the first to reveal the true stories behind hidden gems like 9 Child's Street, Lucy in Visage, and The Bridge Curse 2. While most content focuses on popular games with obvious inspirations, we dive into lesser-known titles that others overlook. It's sad that many creators miss the chance to explore the fascinating ways horror games intertwine fiction and reality.

Your gut feeling is basically spider senses
Humans have the power to know if something is wrong which is insanely complex, how does the human brain detect what's wrong and what is not?

I've never heard of this game or the real story either.
There's an ongoing debate on whether it is appropriate to use real life cases and incidents in entertainment media. Some people find it disrespectful towards the victims and their family, and some people find it enlightening for it bringing awareness towards the case.
@@LeanneKrv imo, it's just another form of interactive media telling stories, with much more memorable details since games are more engaging than videos or audio alone. just a reimagining of the event nothing meant to be disrespectful provided that the games have had permission from the victims or appropriate to be made into game in the first place
@@LeanneKrvyeah I know some people don’t like when real stories are used as inspiration or even retold accurately in entertainment. I was half listening the video as background noise, but as soon as I heard Andreas Gruber I dropped what I was doing and gave the video my undivided attention. The Hinterkaifeck case is a chilling one.
I have heard the story a dozen times and it intrigues me every time. The only case that I am more interested than this one is the St. Louis Baby Doe.
There is a crucial detail missing ftom the story.
The family had a maid left a few weeks before the murders.
The maid claimed that she could not stay because things kept missing or changing places and most importantly she was hearing knocking and noises through the walls all day long.
The father of the family a couple of days before the murders went to his neighbor Laurence and asked him for a rifle because he did not have one... For safety reasons
Now...... Do you remember the Goonies film? Do you remember Sloth?
For the younger ones do you remember a movie called The Boy? Good. Do you remember Brahms?
That happened.
Victoria was his mother. He exhibited extra rage towards her.
We all know who the father was.
The boy got spooked by the people coming to the farm and eventually left the house.
The harsh winter took care of him. Or maybe not
I thought the perpetrator was never caught unless you’re talking about the game
@@conorgarrett5893 It is an assumption.
@@gek1915 oh! Sorry lol it’s sad what happened to that family tho
It is said to have been the father though. There's an official Hinterkaufeck site that lists reasons why it is very probable that it was the father. He had incestuous relationships to his children and forbidden for his daughter to meet any guy if as long as she wasn't pregnant from him. Apparently there was an instance where she met with a boy and claimed to be happy to be pregnant with her father because else she wouldn't be able to see him. He feared the neighbours would finally do sth against him being an arse abusing his children and wife. He used a tool usually for the purpose of killing pigs without shattering the skull, leading to brain death yet leaving the brain usable for food purposes. As he created this tool hisself and could use it accurately, it is highly likely he did the same to the others as their skulls weren't shattered too. He died in an accident a day later, which is why six corpses were found, the murderer within them.
The only guy that really had any motive to kill them was the "presumed dead" husband. The father 100% had an incestuous relationship with his daughter/ the wife of the missing husband. That guy literally fought in ww1 wile his father in law stayed home and fucked his wife.
A rememberence picture of the family was found in the church of my neighboring village Hagelstadt, ca. 85 km away from Hinterkaifeck. Nobody knows how it came here.
I put it there 😈

The investigators are so skilled. However, I understand now that they couldn’t find the main cause due to how bizarre this case was, we’d need Sherlock Holmes to solve it or a paranormal investigator.

@@DreiPinguine What’s the link? The video didn’t show that it was solved but merely possibilities.

@@CromwellEdoniswell it is most likely that the father killed his family… and that later on he got killed in an act of "revenge" by Lorenz Schlittenbauer.
No one really knows obviously (because why wouldn’t he have called local authorities?)
However in such a little village.. at that time? More realistic.
Most people don’t believe in the "paranormal" explanation and think those have been added on later because such a small village at that point in time would rather believe in such a thing occurring than the sad truth about a deranged abusive husband who killed his own children and wife as well as a maid…
It would have been solved or partially solved if they had DNA testing/ finger print testing
I literally live like 2 miles away from Hinterkaifeck. It feels so strange to get a random Horrorgame into my recommendations which is about the case you get confronted with your whole life 😅 I even made a very strange encounter there 10 years ago.
Come on, you can't just say you had a strange encounter there and not say what it was, lol.
Well what was the encounter?
What encounter?
tell us what happened! Pleaaaaaase!
Didn`t thoughed that anyone would read my comment lol. I was driving home a friend in the middle of the night after a party. When we were next to Hinterkaifeck there have been around 10-15 people with completly white dresses and candles at the edge of the road and when they saw us, they tryed to block our way through (they acted to slow thank god). We were shocked and never spoke about it for the next 6-7 years. After all those years we spoke about this again, because both of us thoughed this was something like a nightmare and didn`t happen, but it turned out this was real. There are rumours in our area that nearby a sect is living, probably that`s what we saw, but I can`t tell for sure.
Funfact, for anyone wondering about the case (especially the english speakers who aren't coincidentally fluent in german) -
There's a seemingly official german site explaining the details of the murder and why it is highly likely the murderer was Andreas Gruber hisself. As the one slaughtering the pigs, he had a special tool for killing them. Basically a pickaxe, but made specifically so that it would lead to brain-death without shattering the skull of the pig. This would lead to a hole in its skull but leave the brain still usable for food purposes.
The murder victims all died due to being hit with such a tool, yet without having their skull crushed. Especially considering how many times they were hit, it must've taken a great amount if experience for the murderer not to shatter the skull.
He had motives too, mainly that he was an absolute arse. He was quite easily angered and known to just go at people with whatever tool available. He was also known to abuse his children. Not giving them food, locking them in, etc, and the neighbours wanted to go to court with that, however they imagined it would only harm the children more considering how easily he got angry and violent. So they didn't. He also told his daughter Viktoria he'd kill her if she met with boys/men when she wasn't pregnant. And... Yeah, she was at some point pregnant from him because of course he molested his children. Apparently she once told a Lorenz guy she can be haopy to be pregnant from her father as otherwise she wouldn't be able to meet him. The reason for why his other daughter was found with her mouth bound shut was because he tried to rape her before murdering her (idk if he succeeded, but she apparently was found half-naked. As she tried to defend herself he ultimately cut her throat with a knife though, so maybe he didn't succeed. Not like it matters anymore). Him being the murderer hisself also explains why the dog didn't bark and nothing was stolen. Most obvious of all is that he doesn't have the same injuries literally every other victim has.
So now that we have five murder victims why were six found, one of which being the arse himself?
Remember that all of the corpses were only found four days after the crime. Andreas went about his day, ate what he still had, changed the calendar as usual. Then he just kinda fell on a cross pick, immediately tearing open his arteria carota and bleeding out within a very short amount of time. The calendar showed april first (like it all was just one big joke with his own death) when they found them, so it was just the day after the crime.
kinda weird that he possibly killed himself with a pickaxe, that seems strange
That was not fun at all :(
this is absolutely fascinating - can you provide the link?
@@Void_Inc-0x But hey at least the criminal died in April 1st which in itself is already embarrassing enough...
" Then he just kinda fell on a cross pick"
That's an insane twist of fate. Normally in cases where the murderer is also dead you would assume a murder-suicide, but he just... Fell on a pick???
It’s interesting how many video games use real life historical events for their stories!
and I don't like how most of them HAVE to add in fantasy. even if the event was real. just to make it feel more scary. a story doesn't have to be super scary to prove a point. being there in person is already scary enough. for example you got a stalker. game makers just turns him into a monster. like guys if you want a fantasy horror game. than make one and stop adding extra things that didn't happened in real events.
@@rickydiscord7671kind of agree but the point about a stalker is mute because that’s just a thing that happens wether you’re fantasy or not and not a specific real life event that happened to a specific person if you get what I mean. Wording is all
It may be a missed opportunity for mainstream RUclipsrs to cover these topics, but then it allows you to shine with your awesome videos, so I’m happy that they’re skipping over these titles and that we get to watch your content ^_^
wow this encouraging feedback is really appreciated.
I think it's possible that none of the suspects are the real culprit, the old maid had heard noises in the attic and thought the house was haunted, I think it's possible that there was some random desperate poor person living there in hiding and was discovered and decided to commit something absolutely horrible to cover their tracks out of desperation, even now there's stories of people living in people's basements or attics for extended periods of time, this could also explain how there was still food being made and the calendar being changed, they obviously would have had to flee once the community started to get suspicious.
The most probable suspect would be Andreas Gruber himself. Killed his own family before dying accidentally or not
The thing about that, it's not that hard to identify if someone was living on an attic or what not. Since there would be "Traces" of evidence of a person living in such spaces. Not to mention their hygiene and whatnot.
@@marclenraymagdaraog691 I mean, they would've had over a day to clean up their tracks before they fled, as for hygiene, everybody was stinky back then honestly.

So, I live in Bavaria and when I went to school back in 2006, I was in 6th or 7th grade and we read book called "Tannöd". It started off boring and since it was a book that we had to read in class I was very bored. Luckily the teacher forced us to read it in class so we eventually got to the sick part. The book was full of incest, betrayal and creepy stuff. In the end we were explained that the story is based on a real event. This made me remember the story forever.
The movie was great tho
Hearing about how the little girl could have survived for hours is what made me flinch, I've read and watched gorey stories like these for a long while now and always the part where an innocent child goes out suffering in futility that gets me
The really distressing part is when you start going numb to these sorts of things.
Worked in Law Enforcement for a while now, and not much shocks me anymore. Overdose, murder, gore, even crimes against children.
I have colleagues who go "you know x committed y, right?" And I just kind of shrug. At some point, it all becomes the same.
Living your daily life dealing with the absolute scum of reality has an odd effect on you.
I guess that is to say that you must detach yourself from empathizing and sympathizing with these sorts of people (criminals). Imagine you're watching a movie and you see a surgical scene or torture scene. Your toes curl and you feel uncomfortable. This is a sympathetic response from your brain. You put yourself in their shoes and envision yourself being subjected to what they experienced, or, doing what they have done.
If you stop sympathizing with criminals, you become less disgusted by what they do. It becomes another day at work. If you stop sympathizing with victims, you become less effected by what happened to them. It becomes another day at work.
It sounds dark and calloused, but it's a coping mechanism to stop yourself from drowning in the dark underworld that exists all around us. It's not a loss of caring or compassion, but more a huge cage placed on one's emotions.
It's a terrible, dark, and mysterious world out there. You experience some truly horrific shit in this line of work. It's the same reason some soldiers go "numb" as well. To them, dealing and experiencing death becomes a daily chore. It's a similar thing in this industry.
Not everyone seems capable of it, and that's okay. It's not a bad thing to maintain your humanity. I'm capable of it in everyday life. But when the time comes to get on the clock again, it's like the walls go up, and it's just another day. You leave it at the door. You leave your home life at the door, and leave your work-life at the door. Never take work home. Never take life to work. They will inevitably corrupt one another if you let them touch.

I had to do a study on the Hinterkaifeck case for my English class!! It was really interesting to learn more about the family, like how Andreas and Viktoria had been accused and even arrested on accounts of incest (which started at Viktoria's 16th birthday, from what I remember. Andreas was also raping her, so I put zero blame on Viktoria and proudly say that Andreas deserved to die.)
It had a lot of people believing that Viktoria's son, Josef, was a product of incest. People also thought that Viktoria's husband, Karl Gabriel, had actually survived the war and, when coming home, killed the family because of the incest.
Of course, this one is untrue, as you can find his documents and certificate of death dated before the actual arrest on incest. He was also reported dead by his comrades.
It's such an interesting and horrific case, and I reccomend looking into it, but a lot of sites are in German (obviously), so be prepared to translate a lot of stuff if you don't actually know the language.

You did a fantastic job with this story! It's very tragic and horrible.
Sometimes the simplest explanation is the right deduction. The crime happened during a global conflict, it was common for people in Germany during that time for people to be poor and destitute. Not to mention the strange happening occured well before the crime took place. This person was living in their farm hidden for who knows how long.
Even in the US this kind of occurrences happens where people will take residence in the atics or crevices of people's homes which sometimes even leads to "dusting" cases. What likely happened was that the perpetrator got caught and in desperation resorted to the most horrible deed imaginable. After all, desperation is one common motive that can turn someone into an absolute evil person. However, the case is long cold and people will likely never know who did it and is could be a person completely unrelated to any of the suspects.
But if they are poor and desperate, shouldn't they stole the money?
@@gregorius.dentang Exactly that's why robbery can't be the reason, since they also could just have let the kids go too and just stole the money.
As someone who grew up in Germany, there are many film adaptations of this story and a lot of people know that story. I learned of the story when I was really young and it s ared the crap out of me.
Btw the word "Hinter" usually means something like behind. Quite fitting to the story.
Actually, your german pronunciation is pretty good😂 I've noticed that when someone apologizes for mispronouncing german (or when they point it out), they're usually pretty good. But when they just gloss over it or pretend they know what they're doing, it's usually very hard to understand 🤔
Despite his supposedly being dead, it's hard to shake the idea of him being the killer.
It seems clear that him and Lorenz are the most likely culprits, but something doesn't add up with Lorenz.
It does not seem likely that he would murder his own son. Sure, he could be a total psychopath, but that still seems like an odd choice, especially given the young age of the child. He probably could have spared his son with him being no more likely to get caught (especially given the manner in which the killings were carried out).
Also, why would a man who lives next door live on the farm for days after the murder?
This seems more characteristic of a man who knew the family, had a reason to hate said family, especially Victoria and possibly her child, and was living as a vagrant at the time (which would make sense of a man who had faked his death).
Yeah and him being a neighbor would make him a prime suspect and it would be very stupid idea to do. So nah I'm sure he wasn't the suspect it would have been too obvious.
It definetly makes sense, how would he let the baby live without making it seem like it wasn't him?
Like, it'd lead directly to him.
I still don't think it was him, but it isn't impossible not stupid to think he killed his own son to hide his actions, i don't think life matters to whoever did that thing.
This is the first time I've ever heard of this case! Thank you for the new rabbit hole
Literally found out about this case months ago from a RUclips short and was obsessed with it now I’m finding out there’s a game
thank you yt homepage for giving me quite the horrifying scare
LOL YESAH
Very interesting story I didn't even know about - and don't worry, you pronounced the german names really well. Except of Gruber - it's more like Groober than Graber😉
The moment you gave the game title in context I was like 'oh', man the story of Hinterkaifeck murders is Known for true crime viewers but I could absolutely understand the general audience not knowing it. Good narration!
What's the game shown at 0:30 called? I've seen a similar game but it suddenly went quiet
it looks similar to resident evil to me, but i could very much be wrong
It looks very much like Resident Evil 8 : Village.
It could be Resident Evil 7 : Biohazard since those two are (to my knowledge) the only two First person RE games with Ethan Winters as the MC. And the piss yelliw jacket is what he wears in RE8
Brutal event,scary,scary,scary staff...
And thx for another game to play, you guys rock
holy shit, subbed immediately. love your dedication to the subject matter and the overall research methods. your channel is a gem.
Your channel is an inexhaustible source of good horror💯💯greetings my friend
your voice is so like soothing for some reason i love watching your videos 😋
I love the sound of people patting themselves on the back, so the first ninety seconds are my favorite.
I’ve heard the story many times, but never in this much detail. Good job on the research.
100 years old case there, that's why I never heard of it before. But I am also not from Bavaria but another part of Germany.
I can’t believe there is a game based on this story! I had heard the original story many times before and it really haunts me. The first maid had said repeatedly that she heard strange footsteps, the father (or grandfather) found footprints in the snow leading into his property a few times, etc. I could not fathom why they never thought to contact the police. I used to think that they should have left that farm but really that’s unrealistic since it was their primary source of income, but still… the signs were there that they were not alone on the grounds so why ignore them?
What I find so odd is the fact that the family members were taken out one by one in the most insane way. One after the other they went into the barn. Most barns have only one exit and it’s the main entrance as well. I’m not surprised that they never were able to discover who had massacred the family as it was in the 20s but it’s still so eerie.
I am glad to have watched this video in the afternoon!
I was unaware Germany could be traumatized anymore after the nineteen forties.
Just look at the economics before the nineteen thirtys, you'd be traumatized aswell
This was before the nineteen forties though.
The pronumciation you decided not to use was actually correct 😄 great video!
Oh, what? A game based on the events in Hinterkaifeck? I live in Bavaria, but I didn't expect knowing this case already some years ago. Yeah, that stuff was scary.
I have no clue why but I feel so uneasy watching this, I feel very unsafe right now for some reason, I don't why.
Just found your channel through the algorythmn and was in for a treat! Very well researched matter and a likeable voice makes for good listening to a coffee. I think I'll stay for longer :)
Kazza is the only YT channel that has real life vampires voicing their videos.
I'll take this as a compliment lol being a vampire is good for the channel's horror theme.
@@KazzaGamesTVOf course Mario! ...ya'll at Kazza have very distinct voices with personality.
Enjoyed your video man!
Cheers🩸🩸🩸
This appeared at 4 am and jesus christ that thumbnail is scarier than i last saw it
I would like to point out, that getting married because you got someone pregnant was not uncommon all over Europe and the US at this point in time. It's still quite normal to this day in many places in the world. So I don't think someone would be more likely to be a killer nor a victim of gross undadlike behaviour just because someone suddenly got married out of nowhere or people being suspicious of a pregnancy before marriage.
One game I'd love to have you cover is Ready or Not.
Even though it's a SWAT game, it is just pure horror nightmare fuel. It's pretty much how real life is.
i will always trust a gut feeling
every small adaption is either for looking good to other humans, or survival, and a gut feeling doesnt look good, but it sure as hell lets people survive
im not gonna question how it works if it lets me survive
I like the way you talk about the story and games, it is very intriguing and interesting 😊. I hope you have a good day 😊
Oh boy 32min video from KazzaGames after 12 days, this will be a fun video to watch.
You need to talk about Amnesia the bunker. It's the best horror game I've played
you got yourself a new Subscriber, love the stories behind games, lore and if there is any real life ideas behind the games I have watched or played. thanks.
1:25 jollibae lmao
Okay as a German I would have loved a Visual Text of any German Names (either familiy or places) on the screen. Its just something i always enjoy so I can give aditional information. But the way it is right now I have no clue how to even begin to try and aquire more info. Great Video tho! I enkoyed it a lot!
It's about time someone outside of the true crime community recognized this event. It's one of the most fascinating ones.
Ooooh I know their case! Definitely want to see a full play thru 😮
Literally decided to read the comments before i got too far into the video. As soon as I saw the word "maid" I realised what case this is based off.
The moment my brain put together horror + farm + Germany + real life, it instantly jumped to the case this game was made around.
It’s cool seeing games that are based off of such fascinating real events
may i suggets that you add the name of the games you include in the video? i see many interesting looking games that i sadly dont recognize
8:21 =This is starting to sound familiar... Is this the family that was mysteriously offed and the killer stayed in the house for days before the bodies are found?
This reminds me of the Jack the Ripper killings, with no clear motive, no clear suspects and dead ends everywhere. Truly mysterious and tragic
Within the first 5 minutes you had a new subscriber. 😊 Great video
I never knew someone made a game about this. I had heard about the true story while listening to random murder podcast episodes.
The beauty of horror games, and anything horror in general, is that it dives deep into the underbelly, and the horrific, disturbing, real life coincidences and similarities to real life events....And to be honest, it is quite sad if you ask me, because no one deserves the fates that the mentally insane put them through.
Also, I love how the thumbnail mentions a disturbing horror game that traumatized a nation/Germany....Also, this story that you're talking about is basically Germany's version of "The Amityville Horrors" in Long Island/New York State.
As someone interested in true crime and unsolved mysteries , I have heard of the Hinterkaifeck murders, but didn't know there was a game inspired by them.
Normally, I'm the person to dig into weird and scary murder cases. I've never heard of this. You've just interested me into a bunch of horror games. This reminds me of Winsconsin Death Trip.
As a german, really interested. im watching the ad rn, and im curious what my reaction is after i watched this!
Can’t wait to watch this right before I go to bed.
I love your accent and the way you describe things!
