I don't do returns either. I think it makes people more careful about what they are buying if there isn't a return option .

I’ve started digging more into books and recently scored one that is currently listed for $96, I paid a dollar! Like most items you have to do a little research but it will pay off for you!

I agree with no returns as a policy because if it's a legitimate reason you have to accept it anyway but you don't get random returns of regret or change their mind. Also 3 day shipping but ship early as possible ❤❤❤. Love your content and sensibility

I have been a teacup and saucer, clothing, hard goods reseller but I am branching out and saw a Remote control car and bought it and listed it. I was nervous about it mostly because of shipping but it is listed and it wasn't too hard to do. You are helping me understand to just go for it and not worry so much about everything. I am even doing golf clubs now because of you. My sales are bumping along but maybe they will improve as time goes by.

Mike I offer free returns and one day shipping. One thing to note is that eBay gives the sellers a discount on fees when they do this. This discount alone completely offsets any kind of concern you might have in fact you save so many more hundreds of dollars every year because of it. And I've never had anyone abused the return policy

Get to know Mike through his videos. He has a wealth of information that you will need.
You will see pretty quick that Mike loves people. He is talking to you as if you were family or an important guest in his home.
The stories that he shares gives the information context. The context gives the viewer gold nuggets in terms that can be fully understood and assessed. You can actually use his teachings in your own business and know why it works.
Then you too will have a story to tell that will be much better than just a check list.

Thanks for all your tips! I'm a longtime MF Amazon (and brick and mortar) bookseller and just started selling on Ebay at the very end of December. My Ebay sales are blowing Amazon out of the water. So many valuable books get buried in Amazon's poor search (dys)functionality or are restricted. Already within 3 weeks, I've sold twice the value of books on Ebay than Amazon. I think a lot of RUclipsrs overstate the difficulty or slowness of listing and selling on Ebay. I hesitated to join the platform because of this, but saw myself accumulating so much valuable stuff and saw my Amazon sales go down (not to mention brick and mortar sales also declining overall in this economy and the weather up here in Eastern Washington) that I just took the plunge and did it--to surprising results. I set a goal of $300 for my first month and will likely get more than 10X that by the end of January.
Thanks for showing us all so much about online selling on Amazon!

Great vid, always a pleasure. I used to be afraid of returns then I turned them on , I rarely get them and since they have to pay for frivolous returns they typically won't bother.
I have 3 day shipping but typically get it out w/in 24 hours, unless I can't find something 😂

I used to do same day shipping but I got dinged twice for late delivery even though I proved I shipped it on time. Now I changed it to two day handling. If eBay is going to ding me for late shipping then I'm not going to set myself up for failure. I still ship same day or next day but at least I'm not getting dinged anymore.

Hey I wasn't sure if you were equating big business and big box stores with how an eBay seller operates. They are quite different and eBay sellers are eBay's product. Ebay made the most profits from eBay fees last year which is the sellers. For years now stores have been selling low quality product which consumers have been paying too much for. I enjoy selling good quality vintage stuff that's why I enjoy watching your channel. I can block buyers who return a good product when all the imperfections are declared in the listing. I just consider my few dollars I spent on the item as loss. Items that are older and useful are still around because they're good quality. Big stores can't usually block buyers from returns but they could change what they sell and sell better products to avoid returns.
Your economics are a bit off. Big stores make money which channels to the top and keep their bottom line, worker wages, really low. They pay little to sell high. If they're suffering with returns it shouldn't be passed onto the consumer but they inevitably try and report this as the reason for high prices, like theft and the reason for putting cages around items. You mentioned it as debt and tried to equate it to federal economic debt. Federal debt is not really debt when you think about it's not running like a household budget. The government has to spend money to keep inflation low and they produce the money. A store doesn't operate like this they make so much on individual items and are addicted to doing it which will eventually make it unsustainable. How much more do billionaires need right. The greed is out of control. I believe this may be what you meant when you said the stores won't be around but not sure because you mentioned return debt which is a made up number. The stores pay little for the item to sell at a higher amount but then consider the higher amount the debt. The original cost is the 'debt'. Big stores also sell their returns. You raised some interesting points and just wanted to check on factoring in that stores are not the losers here and need sympathy or that consumers should be wearing returns.

Could you explain Amazon's high pricing error? I'm not too familiar with FBA but I thought the charm of FBA was items could sell for a higher price than merchant fulfilled.

    • @goldenstatepicker
      @goldenstatepicker  8 месяцев назад

Basically they have some formula for certain MSRP type items. No one can really figure it out, but in general you just have to get lucky. I see FBM's priced high and then my FBA gets the error? So, it really is confusing.

As a top rated seller (small discount), I have to accept all returns and I have to ship in one business day. The savings I get are marginal, not sure it is really worth it. On hard to ship items (like bicycles), I put in five day handling time. I will regret saying this, but I have done a pretty good job organizing my items so I can find them quickly. My return rate is about 0.1%, or 1 out of 1,000 sales. If it ever gets up to 1%, I will drop free returns and go with no returns. I get sick of people asking for free shipping, as if I am Amazon and enjoy super low shipping (and by the way you have to pay Amazon $100 a year to be a Prime member). I bought a pile of pulp fiction PBs. Most were worth about $3 each, but four of them had higher value, $50 to $75 each. So I pulled those out of the lot. Many of the early Sci Fi classics showed up in serial form in magazines first, like Asimov Foundation and Herbert's Dune.

I listed a variety faucet and shower faucet on Craigslist list from being ripped off from the first idiot as both fixtures could not be used. Both boxes just weighed too much to ship as I tried to save things that were left to off set from being ripped off but I am happy with the money I had to spend to get a decent bathroom. Sometimes things have to get sold to get the money to fund a project. Thanks Mike. Happy days from zero temp Anchorage Alaska. 😊😊😊😊😊
