- Mini Motorways Part 14 - pretty much everywhere, cars go fast. I try out a very interesting weekly challenge where you start with 3 motorways, get 2 motorways instead of 1 as a weekly reward, and have no motorway cap. How high of a score can this city get?

Wasn't enough
I think a cool mode would be you have a prebuilt city in terms of houses and buildings, but none of the roads or anything are placed, and you have a limited number of each type to build an infrastructure that will get a certain number of pins before failing. Like imagine being given a city that would normally exist once you have 3000 pins, but all the roads have been removed. You'd need to figure out what the infrastructure was so that you could prevent it from crashing.

And you could let people make their own, with the option to edit terrain and challenge modifiers

If you have a traffic light at the entrance to a store, then the only place the cars leaving can wait for the light is in the parking lot. It all seems obvious in hindsight, I'm sure.
I really hope mini motorways adds one way roads as a reward option. I think it would be pretty powerful if used right and could get quite interesting.

I am dying at how you expect the traffic at 15:50 to just phase through the ground at motorways 16 and 17 to get to their destination.

Hey, if he doesn't do changes to his environment, even small ones, he'll stagnate. It helps keeps the brain fresh to move things around.

I'm using this in place of creative mode for the rest of the week. Imagine if there was infinite roads
Couldn't you block off every area causing nothing to spawn?
@@justacryptid4687 The devs updated the difficulty ramping. If you have too little buildings, their demand for pins increases a lot faster. And levels always start with one building.
@@justacryptid4687 To be fair this is a comment about the idea of a creative mode. Difficulty wouldn't exactly be a big deal here.
Also if you block off everything you're also stopping houses from spawning, so you'd lose eventually from demand ramping anyways.

As someone who is binging the playlist for this and having a lot of fun watching you, I cannot emphasize my gratitude for you finally increasing your cursor size! That said, I still want to recommend using a black pointer for bright maps; tracking any smallish white objects on a large whitish screen is completely impossible when you realize that you can move your mouse cursor to the complete opposite side of the screen in just a few frames, which is exacerbated by the lag inherent to (flat) screens. This is made worse by the fact that a lot of small things are moving chaotically in this game, which means you can't rely on your instincts to spot the movement no matter how hard you stare.

I've been enjoying playing this game myself (a bit too much, alas) thanks to watching your videos on it.
My strategy for this one is to use motorways as overpasses where two roads would otherwise intersect. My other strategy is to be careful how many of any one color house I connect to its respective businesses.
Watching your videos makes it feel like im just hanging out with ya tryin to solve puzzles. Very comfy cozy.

There really needs to be a way to make motorways invisible or at least see through while you're playing.
I once had a bug on my game where it would do this, and it was really quite annoying because you can't see where the motorways are. Thankfully it's fixed now though.
You can pull them and move them to see what's under them or place them on a less obstructive spot
Btw I don't mean moving the motorways entrance you can click and pull from its middle point
@@he3004 I'm aware that that is an option, but I feel a button where you can toggle them invisible and not would be much more convenient.

My favorite weekly challenge yet, my map looked a hot spaghetti mess but was fun getting use of unlimited bridges and tonnes of motorways
I love this series! Watching from a mobile makes it real hard to see your cursor though when things get busy, reckon you could make it slightly larger for recording the vids? 😍

That being said.. motorway 1 + 4 were not that inconvenient in the start, comparing to all other businesses later on... try using road AS MUCH as possible, and motorways only for edge cases.. with a good structure at the start, everything is more manageable later

Hey Tyler, not sure if you're going to read or follow this, but I think it may be a good idea to change the style of your cursor as well. The increased size helps, but it's still sometimes hard to find when the game can be just as bright. There's a setting in Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointers (tab) that lets you change the scheme to "Windows Inverted (extra large) (system scheme)", which will make the mouse the opposite color of whatever it's above, making it stand out more. It's up to you if you want to use it, but I think it'd be helpful.
And keep up the great content!
If you click and drag on the motorway’s number, you can change the curve of it. This was killing me at the start.

i can't believe i did so good on this challenge first try it was so much fun to plop down 21 motorways
Here at last we can see that only yellow structures were facing problems. This strengthens the hypothesis that total trips per week among a certain colour remain constant. If one structure is maxing out, then some of its pins will be transferred to another structure of the same colour. And if that other structure is still at level-1, then it will max out faster. The fact he used a motorway and a roundabout for the pinks at the start hurt me. Be definitely could have just made a road and had it barely slower
As someone afraid of bridges, and all these overpasses, I would fucking hate this city

fun fact: the buildings in the game are actually connected, if a certain building has more pins than another, it will instead put the pin onto another building of the same color

What is wrong with the roads having tight turns? Do they slow down or something?
It might be a placebo but it looks like cars slow down more for tighter turns as opposed to shallower turns, it makes sense too imo.

You mean like make motorways with intersections? I don't think so, but you can just connect several motorways with normal roads.
If you mean just fitting on top of each other, then yes. You can even weave them through eachother.

ngl having 2x motorways is actually more of a curse than a blessing, because people end up wasting motorways on shit that doesn't need motorways simply because people grow complacent with their road management, resulting in them running out of motorways faster than if they didn't have 2x motorways
