Great Show Guys 😃 Blue Hawaii 💙 is my favourite movie 🎬 / favourite soundtrack ....never tire of playing it ! I have around 35 copies of the album ....have some double copies also ! Got the FTD Book set etc etc ... I was fortunate to visit Hawaii many years ago ....visited most of the iconic movie locations! The picnic site / Hanauhna Bay ( Elvis Beach ) as its now called ! Enjoyed watching this ...look forward to part two ... Cheers David 🍺🎙🎶
A truly entertaining and very informative discussion between great minds! ☺️👍🏻👍🏻 Thank You all for the great podcast you all have started. Hope all is well David! Sending beat regards from NY my good friend! 😎🙌 TCB ⚡️⚡️😎
I don’t think Juliet Prowse would have been believable as Hawaiian. Her looks and accent would be jarring. There are stills of Steppin’ Out of Line in the FTD book, good chance the footage is out there somewhere. The uniform shirt worn by Elvis in GI Blues and BH was sold at auction in 2021 for over $12000. Interestingly, it has a Paramount Wardrobe Costume stamp, so was not Elvis’ original uniform but does have his correct regiment badges.
I watched Blue Hawaii on U.K. tv a while ago and was quite shocked to see a disclaimer before the start as going on memory it was just a fun film and nothing could be taken as derogatory. Definitely different times. Elvis was 26 and Angela Lansbury almost 36. Personally I think Joan Blackman was perfect in the part.
A disclaimer. That's hilarious and scary in equal measure. I think I'm going to make a "Problematic Bingo" card before watching Elvis videos in future.
Great informative episode. From a cinematography perspective I think it's the best of his films from the 60s, although I don't know that I personally find it the most "fun". I think I have about 19 copies of the soundtrack between LPs and CDs.
@@sincerelyelvispresleycorrect. It was released digitally in 4K but the same company that released Blue Hawaii released the physical copy of King Creole on blu ray, not 4K.
Yes the physical release from 2020 of King Creole on Blu Ray was taken from a 4K transfer, but unfortunately only released on standard Blu Ray at the moment - hopefully we will get the 4K Blu Ray version one day. Although the Blu Ray version is very nice quality!
Angela Lansburry said she has ball doing the movie,,,and Elvis wassuch a nice guy. She never said she hated the film. Plus another part that could considered racist is calling the Asian house boy PING PONG......but Elvis never called him that in the movie. He refers to him as Ping-go.
Ping Pong, indeed. I think Adam remembered the name later in our conversation but, like a lot of other stuff, it ended up on the proverbial cutting room floor. Thanks for watching.
Feels like a bit of a stretch to say that most of Elvis's movies are available on blu-ray, when Harum Scarum is released at the end of this month, there will be 19 of the 33 titles available, so there's still some way to go. I wasn't actually that blown away by the 4K transfer of Blue Hawaii, but then to me, the difference between HD and 4K is nowhere near as pronounced as that between SD and HD. SD looks pretty dire on HD/4K TV sets, even if it's upscaled
@markselvisforeveryonechann1153 I'd love to see what the 4K transfer of King Creole looks like but sadly the digital copy has never been made available for purchase in the UK, but is, I believe, accessible on your side of the pond Mark
Blue Hawaii was my introduction to Elvis so have a soft spot for the film. Played the album continually and loved every song.
I'm not entirely certain but I think G.I. Blues was my first one. Thanks for watching.
Yer i really enjoyed that, nice one mate.
Luv the show.
Cheers, Mark.

Her accent probably wouldn't have been as bad as Angela Lansbury's. Thanks for the info. We could do with you joining us sometime.

19. Not bad. I think that's about what I have. Thanks for watching!
King Creole was released in 4k as well. 😊
Thanks for the info!
It was digital only though wasn't it? Pretty sure there was no physical 4K disc released

I'll let Mark debate this with you, Sean. I've barely graduated from VHS tapes. 😅
@@ElvisPresleyInJapan 🤣 and you living in the country where most of our tech comes from in the first place!

I have an OLED tv, so that might make a difference. It’s always subjective, but I thought the movie looked spectacular, with vivid colors in 4K.😊
