I'm so glad you were not spoiled before this episode. When this first aired we were all told this was going to be the death of Rick so we just waited to see how he would die. Then the twist that he is still alive but no one knows. Now Season 9 starts anew with a major time jump.
@@cyndimccoy1103 No they did make it seem like he would die. By saying in the promotions for season 9 "Rick Grimes Final Season" or "Rick Grimes Final Episodes" cuz before they weren't making spinoffs like they are now. The only spinoff they had was Fear TWD
Rick Grimes is the ultimate survivor and went out fighting the way I always envisioned Even down to his last moments It’s sad to see him go but it was at least something worthy of his character.
Fun Fact: The Hospital scene was Rick’s last scene filming behind the camera Norman Reedus the actor playing Daryl was tickling Andrew Lincoln’s feet the actor playing Rick He did it as a little Prank LOL
Glad ya'll saw the scene that Rick survived. Several people turned it off thinking he died. It was very emotional cause TWD had released that it was his last episode so everyone thought he died too. The song when they showed the helicopter was also the same one from end of episode 1, season 1 too. The feelings they got us with showing Scott Wilson, Hershel and Shane. Scott's last episode before he passed away. Judith Grimes saves those folkes to. She was using Rick's gun, had the Katana and Rick's hat. The future moves on. Luke is the actor from Fantastic Beasts franchise.
This episode drips of the "once and future king" trope. Most recognizable as the King Arthur narrative but far older in an Indo-European context. The King/hero, gravely wounded or dying is taken away by a female figure on or near a body of water. And then the people wait for the return of the legendary figure to save them from some great external threat.
Rip Kathy from Oceanside at 15:58 and Norris from the saviors, this episode was the last appearance of Scott Wilson who played Hershel before he died, all of Ricks friends on the ground, Lori, Carl, Shane, Morgan, Duane, Andrea, Amy, Glenn, Dale, Sophia, T Dog, Jacqui, Jim, Morales, Miranda, Louis, Eliza, Miguel, Felipa, Jorge, Guillermo, Mr Gilbert, Edwin, Maggie, Beth, Hershel, Otis, Patricia, Jimmy, Randall, Michonne, Karen, Axel, Oscar, Big Tiny, David, Jeanette, Mr Richards, Mrs Richards, Mr Jacobson, Ms McLeod, Bob, Lizzie, Mika, Luke, Molly, Julio, Dr S Caleb, Ryan, Charlie, Patrick, Zach, Greg, Eryn, Tyreese, Sasha, Tara, Eugene, Rosita, Abraham and many more, that Rick cared about
So long Andrew Lincoln ... and ... Lauren Cohan. Thanks for your amazing performances. Sadly, this was both Rick and Maggie's last episode of TWD. Andrew asked to be written out so he could spend more time with his family in London. And Lauren left because of salary issues as the show refused to pay her the same salary as Andrew, Danai, Norman, Melissa, and Jeffrey.
@Storm Akima I had to close my patreon account months ago to save money but I'm assuming people on there have already told you that this episode was the show writing Andrew Lincoln out of the show without killing Rick off. There will be a spin-off that continues Rick's story but it takes place AFTER The Walking Dead and hasn't aired yet. So don't expect Rick to show up before the end of the series because for now, his story is over
Having Carl there would have been emotional, but he probably didn't want to come back at the time because of how AMC did him dirty. Hell, it's the main reason why Andrew Lincoln left the series to begin with, he didn't like the way they did Chandler Riggs. Carl's death really ruined the show in all honesty. They changed things here and there compared to the comics, but this was one thing that never should have happened in the show.
As much as people love(d) Rick.. this one creative decision created so many issues for the show going forward - writing wise and narratively - that it really wasnt worth the effort to keep him alive within the franchise.
I know.. most of us know that - have for years. But it doesnt really impact the point I was making.. considering the immense screwups with the whole movie trilogy that never was - AMC failing to get anything off the ground, the rewrites, etc.. it just wasnt worth it. And while all that was going on.. it took away from whatever the main show was trying to do because people kept circling back to Rick and his whereabouts. In short.. in order to move the main show forward, they should have gone through with killing the character off and let it move on. @@ConTheBeast
It was totally worth the effort. And besides, seasons 9 through 11 were actually really good, especially compared to seasons 7 and 8 if you ask me. Having Gimple step down as the main writer, and giving the showrunner position to Angela Kang, was the best decision they ever made. Gimple can write a good story, sure... But the man doesn't know how to write dialogue. The last few seasons have the feel of the first few seasons.
I think you misunderstood me.. im not one of the people that think they should have wrapped it up when Rick "died" - far from it. I just think his continued looming over the series from afar did more harm than good. @@MFBloosh
As a hardcore fan of TWD seasons 1-5 I can honestly say season 9-10 are pretty solid. I haven’t seen the final season though. Worst times for the show were seasons 6-8 lol
This was my last episode of TWD before I just rewatched it from start to finish this past month. I just couldn't take it that Rick was gone so I left with him but seeing the spin-offs, I decided to watch the whole series again and actually finish it and I really liked all of the seasons after Rick left especially season 11.
As shitty as it was what they did to Chandler Riggs at least they had the balls to kill him off here they hyped it upp as we are going to kill off Rick and they could not even do that truly a collosal failiure. Remember when the show inproved upon the comic well ever since season 7 they have been making it worse. You know a show has died when the lead actor just dipps on it.
This might be one of the dumbest comments I've ever read. Season 9 through 11 were better than 7 and 8, and the shows/content that came out of it have been amazing. Andy didn't want to leave for good, he wanted a break, and he deservedly got it. Now we get to see what became of him. Killing him off would've been extremely stupid.
For me the show only got better from here but mainly because of the Whisperers arc, they were by far my favourite villains. Although, I think it would probably be a little bit better with Rick in this storyline like it was in the comics.
When this first aired and I saw Hershel it really got me, such a great character and actor RIP Scott Wilson
@TheWalkingDeadLegend It was actually about a month or two after but he died not long after he filmed this scene, about a few weeks apparently 😪
RIP.
His soft spoken "Hey Rick" always gets to me.
Michonne screaming Rick is where my eyes just start balling. WTF.. Acting is so good.

Actually, they announced it would be his last episode, not that he was going to die. Can't wait to seen him again!
@@cyndimccoy1103 We all can't wait for that. I don't ever say it was his last episode for fear that it may spoil future episodes.

Rick Grimes will always be my favourite character on The Walking Dead
Rick Grimes will always forever be The Walking Dead
This aired just days after Scott Wilson passed away. I was😢😢😢
Andrew Lincoln wanted to leave the show to spend more time with his family who live in London
This is the send off a character like Rick Grimes deserves I wouldn’t change anything about it The whole episode was amazing.
If Carl wasn’t dead the only way he could go out was sacrificing himself for his kids

rest in peace to the man who played hershel he was a good actor
What an episode !!!!!

I'm gonna be completely honest, this is one of my favorite episodes from the whole series
Mine to ❤❤❤❤
Rick and Carl might be gone, but how cool is Judith Grimes?
I literally popped some happy tears on her reveal she was so cool. Love Jude!

half of them werent rick's friends bro what. random ass characters
This was my final episode of TWD. In a way, I basically left like Rick.
I don't think we ever know what an "A" or "B" means. I think it's just a McGuffin.
So long Andrew Lincoln ... and ... Lauren Cohan.

Guess you could say Rick left the show with a bang.

We wait for so long😢
This episode is also Lauren Cohen's last episode for a while
This episode was the last one I watched until my fiancé and I started to rewatch it! Such an emotional roller coaster! It was just simply amazing!
That ending
Goodbye Rick
TWD watch world beyond season 2for theA and B questions lol
The Hershel scene is more touching seeing as that was probably the last thing Scott Wilson ever filmed before he died.
Having Carl there would have been emotional, but he probably didn't want to come back at the time because of how AMC did him dirty. Judith became my favorite character after this episode. Love little ass kicker
Rick meanwhile chilling in The CRM
This is Andrew Rincon's last episode...this was the show's way of "killing off Rick...but not really"
Rick will be back in his own show coming soon!

Not sure why but first time I saw this episode my eyes kept getting wet. Dr. never did figure it out

andrew left the show at this point
Feur happened to Rick.
Oh boy
For the record,... You ain't seen nothing yet!!!
I hope you three watch The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live spin-off! It’s been so good!
They kept Rick alive because the showrunners know they made a mistake by killing Carl in the previous season.
the walking dead universe helicopter🚁CRM soldiers 200,000 "A" RICK'S Civic Republic Military🖤YES🤠😎💯🤟✌👍

So you think killing off rick would've made the show better? No it would've just made things much worse such a moronic comment

After this i think the show wasnt as good . The show started with rick shouldve ended with him
It's not over for Rick Grimes.
I know that im just saying after he left the show I just think the show wasn't as good

I don’t think k negan wanted to die. He manipulated Maggie into feeling sorry for him
i think rick should've died that was a great episode to send him off
