When a child comes out (especially a son), it’s always shocking and painful for a parent. I can tell you this as a gay guy who has come out to my parents. And I completely understood that they were scared and shocked at first. Especially in the elite society that they all lived in the TV show. Later in the episode, Lily tells Eric that she was worried for his happiness and scared for his safety. Meaning she was scared that Eric would be turned down by the world for being gay, especially living in a picky environment like the one they lived in.

But they didn't take too long to think it over and left it until the final season and then it was like uhh who should we make Gossip Girl? While Eric could be a good Gossip Girl, I believe it should have been Dorota as well. That would be the ultimate power move since most of posts can be explained this way. Dorota as GG could post Serena's return since she believe that Blair truly missed Serena. And then use the blog to keep tabs on Blair.

I was so pissed about Georgina at that time (almost 10 years ago) that I didn't realize that maybe she is telling the true. At the end of the episode Georgina said that it was a mistake, but Serena did not believet it, neither do I at that moment... But now I believe her.
Well Eric and Asher Did kiss in front of the St Judes, Dan also saw them, so i dont see why she would think he still was in the closet

She actually admitted that she did it on purpose. Later in the episode when Serena confronts her, she lies and says that it was “a mistake”. Then Serena doesn’t buy it, and Georgina actually confesses that it was on purpose.
"Maybe you're right. Maybe I did it on purpose. Because I can. Because I know things. About you... about your family... about your boyfriend... and I know them before you do." She says this later on. She knew what she was doing the whole time. And I love her character.
I know this isn't really the focus but I loved how Serena defended Eric.

I used to think that maybe Georgina didn’t mean to say it but in season 3 when she exposed Lily and Rufus’ love child on their wedding day pretty much convinced me that she doesn’t care who she hurts.
I actually cried during this scene because that is such a horrible and violating thing to do to someone.

Honestly it seemed more genuine, people are always acting like they are pro lgbt but they hate the idea of one of their family members being gay. Lily comes around, but within the span of 10 years a lot has changed. The acceptance we have today was way more then what we had only 10 years ago .The lgbt community was especially looked down by high society. I think lily was shocked, because she never even had the notion that Eric could be gay. But she comes around very quickly

I always assumed that she was trying to be chummy with the family to get under Serena’s skin and then make a mistake 😭 Obviously Georgina’s terrible but she usually takes pride in her cruelty, here she seemed uncomfortable, even alone in her talk with Serena later

I don't think Lily is the best mom in the world, but people are criticising her way too much for her reaction. It must be easy for you snowflakes educated in the 21st century to take the moral high ground, but back then society was so different. Lily accepted Eric so quickly, she just didn't have the best reaction the first 10 seconds after knowing it. She didn't even say anything directly offensive. Of course Eric had the right to be upset (he had just been outed against his will), but you people could be more understanding.

the reason she gave was that she was taken back and she was worried because she knows that means Eric would face harassment in life. they explain later in the episode that she didn't respond that way because she was upset but thatch didn't know how to take the news since I guess she never saw him as gay. granted, it was not right to just assume but I don't blame her for saying she was scared for his safety(not everyone is ok with someone being gay). I agree with you but I also think I can understand why she felt the way she did. she didn't want him to get hurt but also at the end of the day recognizes that Eric would have misinterpreted it as her not being accepting of him.
