Spice is a synthetic drug made from shredded herbs and laboratory chemicals made to mimic the effects of marijuana.

I know this video isn’t meant to be humorous (and respect to the people who took the time to make it) but I couldn’t help smile when the main speaker described “immigrants” as being people from Liverpool and Nottingham!
immigrants generally don't fluctuate into the smaller inner cities, it's usually the bigger ones like London, Birmingham or the port cities like Liverpool. The spread of immigration is tighly associated with the bidding war between councils on housing them. Manchester must have been putting in good bids recently.

Yeah, agreed, I am from Durham, UK, and currently studying at the University of Amsterdam, the difference just based on careful and proper legalization of things here is immense. The UK is trailing MASSIVELY behind in this regard.
I think the fact that it exists at all is because of the prohibition of cannabis, but I think the reason it is a big problem, is because most users who are addicted to spice in the UK, got the habit in prison, and the reason it is so popular in prison is because it doesn't show up on a urine sample like other illegal drugs.

Totally relate, left in 2014 live in Northern Ireland myself. I don’t recognise Manchester anymore. Used to be nice years back. Piccadilly gardens was actually nice back in the days. It’s just full of spice heads and people begging for change. So they can buy more spice or get wasted on something else.. sad tbh.

It's disgraceful the state of England these days.. When we were young we used to go the dance and enjoy our selves ! .. We'd have £20 in our pockets, go for a night out and still have enough left for Fish n Chips at the end of the evening.. But there was no spice in our day.. no no oo oh .. We had ECKstacy and Acid.. A few wraps of whizz is all we could afford, Pink champagne and Doves.. Purple Ohms n Strawberries.. Sqidgy Black and Lebanese Gold.. King Size Rizla and Gold Seal Poppers and Two Unlimited is all we had.. Eehh its terrible the youth of today, we wouldnt have dared !

We wouldn't want the population growth to exceed the rate of resource replenishment and production. At this rate, pop growth is exponential, and may easily overtake and exceed the rate at which we can generate essential supplies like water, food, fuel, shelter, power.

Good short film. Casting an eye over and into the the problems that Spice and other drugs are causing in Manchester particularly with the homeless and street people.
Blackpool is similar. You can't walk around the town high streets these days without seeing someone bent half over, wigging out on spice.
It proves that prohibition and criminalisation doesn't work. Spice 10 or 12 years ago was not as strong or as damaging as it is today. The law kept changing to make the chemicals illegal yet the people producing the chemicals just change the tormula to evade the law, it just so happens that everytime they adjusted the formula, it got more dangerous and stronger. The law and prohibition fucked things up, that is a fact in this case. If the law didn't stick their beak in, then spice would be the same strength it was years ago, and when it was relatively harmless.
But the local Head Shop had strong stuff then. Spose depends on where live etc. Can't believe they changed the formula!

I advise youths to avoid drugs full-stop. No matter what people say, your reality whilst using drugs in all that matters. Why even gamble that you'll out-pace addiction and overall health conditions? You don't get a medal or thought cool for doing drugs, beating addiction or living with a dependency. The most important part: *Drug users aren't your friends. They're other users; they don't care about you*

I was 16 and we were some of the first to smoke it when it came on the scene and after a year of smoking it and the strains getting stronger and stronger my head was totally fucked. That shit is terrifying what it does to you. I used to get hellish stomach cramps that would keep me up most of the night sometimes and it stopped me from doing my job as well. This isn't the first time I've heard of people giving up heroin to take spice either.
wish you you all the best from nz, you're right about the strains getting stronger; the first stuff* they sold wasn't too bad, but then peope started having horrible reactions as the recipie was changed to avoid new laws regarding psycoactive substances.
*the first time it was sort of like smoking some half decent weed, more of a dizzying/trippy feel than a high.

I went to Manchester once a few years ago (2017 maybe?) when it had just been made illegal. I bought some in the city centre from a very very obvious dealer who actually went to get change in the newsagent just five feet away. I hadn't heard of the stuff at the time and thought I was buying weed. With hindsight, it probably wasn't innocuous that he went into the shop that was selling it legally six months previously!

Those dirty Mancs love Spice. Was once working in Manchester and I stopped on Bury Road to buy some e-juice. A lad asked me to go in a shop to buy a bag of spice because he was banned from the shop. I went in and there must of been over 15 different types of it on a shelf behind a counter. There was 2 lads in the shop and they bought over £250 quids worth. Then the prick who owned the shop reversed his jag 50 yards down a one way street straight into the side of my van.

I remember when it just rolled out here in Amsterdam. Tried it a few times, didn't think much of it, didn't enjoy it that much either. Fast forward a couple of years, someone's got some chronic juice at a party (spice e-liquid). I try it and it's nothing like it was before, i've never done crack but i reckon this is not far apart from it. Absolute icky nasty feeling the stuff gives you, it's not even worth trying.
Crack is a nicer, cleaner high than Spice. Crack's if you take it once in a while, like anything, don't abuse it. Spice is cheap and nasty.

Its the brain chemicals mate. Since the beginning of human life we have this noradrenaline, serotonin and dopamin which rewards you when you do something good. Like good nutrition, have sex or sleeping well. Simple evolution. Some stuff in nature just trigger this mechanisms too. Also natural weed for that sake. Manchester has always been dodgy especially around Piccadilly Gardens into the start of the NQ. I loved there in 1998 and holy god the scrotes around the gardens area and into where Dry Bar was is just horrid. That area of Manchester just attracts the worst and always has - layer spice and crack on top of that and it just makes things worse - but don’t think for one second that area of Manchester has ever been nice. It hasn’t.

Absolutely nothing like weed. Weed doesn't cause loss of motor function. The only thing it has in common with weed is the colour.
Weed isn't physically addictive. I tried it one time and it was a bad, negative nasty buzz. Like the way weed opens your mind mostly in a positive way, but it's like that but extremely evil. 1 hit. But it is cheaper than weed at first. In Tampa a pin joint is 2 dollars. But then they need more and more. Homeless people use it real and they are dying. Sometimes it's cut with bug poison and that's a horrible way to die. Why don't just legalize weed. That would solve lots of problems. I was in Tampa, Florida at the time. They call it tushee.
