    I designed and prototyped what I called "Sand Safe" 20 years ago while attending Art Center College of Design. I extensively tested it and it installed into the sand. It had a covered lock and protective gasket to keep sand and water out. It worked and I should have marketed it afterwards.....

      There's a company that's been selling a similar product under the name "beach vault" for the past 10 years. I wish colleges taught design and engineering students more about intellectual property/marketing…

    Carries a 22.5kg (50lb) printer to the beach: +10 points for effort. Doesn't carry a UPS to the beach: -5 points. Doesn't swap the nozzle for a hardened one, that can handle abrasives (sand): -5 points.

    I'm glad you mentioned the heat, because as soon as I herd you made the safe out of PLA and were going to put it out in the sun in the hot sand, I knew that was a bad idea.

    I think the beach safe needs a redesign. Make it a 60° cone with the tip truncated and the lid installed. No screwing down and the sand pressure on the sides will keep it buried until it’s time to go. Of course you would need to dig it in and out of the sand. Probably work better than screwing it.

  • @GMDII
    @GMDII 4 часа назад

    The sand Safe is not designed correctly imo. you need the spirals to go the opposite direction to expel sand out and drive the thing down.. also if you had a ratcheting handle inside the safe would be better to screw it down then remove the handle and you have a safe. just a thought

    DHL royally sucks! They're the worst delivery service ever. I tried to explain that to Prusa, after maybe my 12th delivery took more than 4 times longer than I paid for. Not to mention... The packages always came nearly destroyed. Luckily, Prusa double packages things well.

    • @charmio
      @charmio 5 часов назад +1

      DHL has by far the best and most robust WORLDWIDE delivery network. That part's not opinion, it's actual fact backed by statistics and the sheer scale of their delivery network.
      HOWEVER, If you live in the US, then FedEx is better for parcels domestically.
      Most countries have their own domestic post services, some of which also rival DHL domestically.

    I’ve been watching your channel for a few years now, it has been slowly “dumbing “ down . . . But this has jumped the shark. In my view you have finally crossed from a genuine 3D maker, to an ad man for whoever sends you the next product. It’s your livelihood, that’s fine, but don’t try to dupe the kids.

    • @AuntJemimaGames
      @AuntJemimaGames 4 часа назад

      I agree with you to a certain extent, but it's like you said: it's his livelihood. There are relatively few truly newsworthy events in the field of 3d printing during the year, and one happened while the man was just trying to enjoy a vacation. He can miss out entirely, or put together something simple and fun.
      Creators are slaves to the algorithm. Not posting regularly only hastens their downfall, whether or not you're wishing for it. After all, you choose what to watch, too.
