In all seriousness I could listen to Jeremy Jordan sing for days on end and never get bored. If you’ve never heard him before I beg of you go listen to him (once you’ve finished watching this video)
I’ve heard a fair few covers of this song and am a fan of the tangled series myself so am very glad I got round to recording this one!

I keep on wanting the sound of a hammer striking an anvil in this song.
If you think about it though Varian accidentally saved Rapunzel from the main villain by forcing her to awaken her powers to fight him. Definitely my favorite near tragic character.
Varian’s voice is SO POWERFUL OMG.
Like in all the group songs when Varian jumps in, his voice absolutely STEALS the number and I really wish the show had given him a PURE solo so his gorgeous voice could shine!! Rapunzel and Cass are good, and Flynn is lovely, but I NEED VARIAN TO HAVE A SONG TO HIMSELF!

@@gabrielebattista8219 this is only my opinion. But somewhere around the time the episode Flynnposter came around I felt like certain aspects of his personality were starting to get dumbed down in a way that I did not care for in ways that I felt went against his growth. It was like after the episode "be very afraid" resolved his amber incident trauma the writers did not know what to do with him. The aspects of his character I wanted to see explored were ignored and he became almost like a second Lance at times. I didn't care for this but before it blossomed into something substantial the show was over and I was happy with the resolution for his character as royal engineer. Also Disney doesn't give a shit about Varian and no matter who was running the spin off I doubt they would be given the creative freedom to do anything great with his character in fear that he'd over shadow Rapunzel's show. Disney has a chip on it's shoulder when it comes to Varian because he was supposed to be a plot device to empower Rapunzel and he is distinct in being a character that was both well liked above what he was supposed to be and making some of the Rapunzel fans mad at a Disney princess. Instead of, you know...being mad at him and on Rapunzel's side like the writers intended. There was no way he was ever going to get than what he got. Also reading some of the concepts for his spin off were unimpressive to me. I think his supporting cast was dull or annoying and the concept of his mom being evil and Varian INHERENTLY that evil pisses me off. Screw that. My two cynical cents.

Whenever I hear this song, I imagine someone who switches from talking to the villain and their loved one. The someone turns to the villain in question and lets them know that they've warned them (the villain) too many times and now the villain will pay for their actions. The someone's loved ones tries to tell them it's not worth it, but the someone convinces themself that they're in the right for what they're doing because it's in the name of "love" and "justice". In the lines "You can laugh but it's fine, cause the last laugh is mine," the someone is talking to the villain. Their loved one keeps getting in the way as the someone sings, so the someone holds them back and says, "I never wanted to do this, but I'll do it if it guarantees," then continues talking to the villain "That you will hear me." Then, the someone turns back to their loved one and sings, "Someday, you'll thank me." And thinks to themselves, "Save my home and family." The song ends with the someone in question crossing the line and their loved one is simply staring in horror at what their friend is about to do to the villain for all the pain they've caused.

Love it! It really is the best song from the show. As villain songs often are 😂The only one that comes close is Crossing the Line, it would be amazing if you did the official extended lyrics to that one some day
