      Game really need sombra’s hack for health packs ( and only that part) of Solider 76 healing field if they want people to be in comps without a strategist. Maybe they can find new ways of sustain without healing ( I think iron_ow once suggested that baptise immortality field would be still fit the role of support without healing). I feel like storm was an attempt to create a hybrid but it failed because simply put you need two heroes who can heal even in a minor way.

      So far not bad with Hero Power Fantasy. Yeah some got tuned down however still keeping heroes powerful i.e. BP and Hawkeye still having lethality despite nerfs.

      I don’t get the identity of Captain America. Like I assume he’s a dive tank but has barely any damage, cc, and his shield deflection can’t be aimed.
      Edit: his identity is apparently you play him in goats and he never fucking dies

Bringing mechanics over for mechanics sake is dumb and health packs are supposed to be universal, sombra has been one of the worst implementations of game design since it doesn't do anything but linearizes gameplay to deathball. Plenty of the strategist have AOE healing, heck Cloak and Daggers aura field is pretty much a soldier field. Learn to have fun with the game instead of wishing it was OW and you'd probably have a better time.

    Im going to keep it a bean; keep in mind this is coming from someone who has played at the highest rank in both overwatch and now marvel rivals. I have well over 200+ hrs in this game which is in par with all your favorite high level streamers and top level rivals players.
    Your ow knowledge is great, i dont always agree with everything, but i apprectiate the logic and commentary behind your thoughts. For rivals its pretty clear that you and a lot of the people in the comments are just not in tune with the game and whether intentional or not, really are thinking abt this game like ow when its actually very different.
    I think you mr Spilo has done a good job mentioning that you arent as familiar with the game, but i actually think this patch has been great (less is more here) and this season is going to have potential for a super diverse set of comps and strategies.

      I don’t think this patch is prefect. Luna not being really nerfed hurts. His comments on black panther might be true ( although not fully).
      His comments on tanks feel really shallow. His comments on the punisher being boring feel dumb because while his kit is simple I feel like he makes use of everything in a coherent package.

      Fully agree. This is the first video I felt Spilo has added nothing to the conversation. His value comes from the insight he has based on clear knowledge on the game. He doesn’t have that here yet so it’s not valuable to listen to.

      Finally another reasonable brain, this is not overwatch there’s no 1-1 equivalent. Characters like Winston, genji, cassidy, would get eaten alive in mr as they don’t have nuances allowed to survive, this game absolutely needs high sustain, they just don’t need high immortal ults, i one trick magik to gm, i can legit one shot combo someone from 20 meters away, and animation cancel into Iframes if that was in overwatch the game would literally break, and yet magik isn’t even considered the best character, there is no 1-1 ratio, what’s needed in ow isn’t needed in mr this game absolutely needs sustain for the damage they deal, they just need to tone down the ult usage, no reason for Luna to have a 12 second ult. I’m sure they know, as they clearly see it and are cognitive so I’m not worried about them not addressing the issue.

      @@paulakroy2635 Good points, but I have to disagree with you on Punisher. Please don't take this personally, I just feel really passionate about how shit Punisher is as a hero. Since day 1, I have felt that his turret form is a terrible design choice. It is not coherent with anything else in the kit. It brings the flow of the game to a grinding halt for punisher while he just sits there shooting in one direction. Even in his neutral state, his value is so one-dimensional it's silly. Similar to Hela. Very boring hero design and basically just one thing for you to do at all times. But Hela does an obnoxious amount of damage so she is used.
      At one point in the video there was a punisher main in Spilo's twitch chat who said when he doesn't play punisher, he only heal bots on rocket raccoon. That is a person who goes between two different absolutely braindead 1-dimensional play-styles. Neither are fun to most people, but I guess, for those who want to just turn their brain off and play the super hero game, it's fun. And that's respectable, but we can keep it in silver.
      No hate to punisher players, I just think the play-style/kit of the hero is uninspiring and not in the spirit of Marvel Rivals. I hope I didn't offend you with this, but upon re-reading this, if you are an enjoyer of Punisher, you reasonably could take issue with my comment, and if that is the case, I apologize.

      It's really not. Majority play on console where its a uniform experience and on PC if you have anything in the last 5 years you're good. So its a you problem

      Had issues yday after the update. Before i was above 300 fps. Suddenly ingame, on the new map, it dropped and started lagging. Had 0 issues before the update.

    Punisher having no mobility is such cap. A single well placed grapple can launch you a quarter across the map if you know the mechanics behind it.

      I suspect he's talking about combat mobility.
      Punisher grapple is more like a setup mobility. Maybe a get-out but you need to be pretty early on that.

      @@johnsmith-ol9qj That's grappling into combat. I'm talking about using it as a reaction to escape. While it's context dependent, in a lot of situations you don't have time to pull that off, compared to something like a Psylocke dash for example or a Namor shift.

      you can also hop off it, and either hop directly back on to it after the 1-2 second internal cooldown, or jump imediatly to another. if you feel spicy you can shoot while zipping. And zip is FAST. Possibly one of the fastest if not the fastest [dash[ in the game.

    Most of the disappointment for me that the optimization is not there by a long shot still. Crashing in qp ans more often in ranked on pc and console, tremendous fps drops in game when I have at least 240 in the lobby, now there are glitches that won't load up certain parts of profiles, and some of the settings are not able to be turned on despite no message or indicator as to why I can't. It's not just me. I'm on a 12th Gen 12500k with 64 GB of ram and a Radeon 6700X. I didn't have much of these problems--I haven't crashed once yet though--until the update, but most of these issues have been getting in the way before the end of the season. A bit upset of the stability of the game in general.... :(

      Dude, no wonder several people kept leaving my ranked games. It’s cause their games was crashing. I had a person who was prob duo’ed with my Thor tell the lobby that Thor’s game crashed when he left. It’s so annoying

      I got a 4090 and 13900ks and this shit uses 96% of my gpu on LOW!! Also, the update was constantly crashing on the "shaders" part. Idk man the optimization is kinda bad, to be fair Im 400fps

    7:01 The hardest adjustment to playing thor is that you aren't supposed to use Awakening often, It's a cleanup tool and a finisher mostly. You are supposed to brawl and never die by using hammer throw and fly on CD pretty much. His thor force comes back pretty much every 2.5 seconds and your cooldowns are every 2. If you just wait the extra .5 second for the full hammer charge to come back you are pretty much getting 200 sheilds at all times and doing insane dmg. His basic attack is chunky and the fact that you can disrupt with cap and boost the buffed storm make him pretty much OP at least where I am at gold. He's good into strange hulk as well since strange can't block his basic attack and he can displace and slow both of them. The fact that his ult has cc immunity now too means if he gets you to half health your are pretty much a goner. You can fight endlessly even through luna ulted teams and as long as there isn't a wolverine there's not much anyone can do as you zip around the objective.

      All high level gameplay I watch of Thor have people using awakening every 20 seconds, they basically use the dash one or two time then use awakening to pressure.
      High level player barely use hammer throw, only time they use it is to cancel the melee and do big damage at close range.
      Awakening runes is the best way to do damage with Thor, it’s what you use to win duel and melt vulnerable tanks, it’s also what you use to pressure.

    I think black panther is more like dps doom than Genji. You just cycle the same cooldowns. On doom it was slam, shoot, uppercut, shoot x2 and punch out. Over and over.
    Panther feels the same.

      This isn't 100% accurate, though. Even with DPS doom there was a large % of situations where a punch engage was necessary. Heck, look at tank Doomfist, and it's the same sort of "choose your cycle order."

      @@starboypluto Genji isnt a combo character tho, he doesnt need marks to dash reset, he needs kills, so Black Panther isnt like Genji at all and needs to rotate the combo in order to actually achieve it. Black panther is melee which means his playstyle has to be strictly combo related. Genji just spams his right click, basically making him more like Psylocke. So if you want Genji playstyle, play her instead.

      Yeah when Thor dies he drops a hammer floating on the ground. I'm not sure what that does, but looks like it should be able to pick up.
      Or when Thor presses F he tosses the hammer to Cap while Thor throws lightning.

      @@DeusagaThe hammer is for his team up. Same for the Loki staff. If Hela gets a final hit, it will resurrect Thor or Loki from the spot there weapon is at.

      That’s already the theme of the team up. If you read the description the reason cap and storm have team ups with Thor is bc they both have wielded his hammer in the comics/movies.
      Having cap gain a power up when Thor dies tho would be weird to balance. It would almost incentivize death.

    Ykw the support role being called strategist was always crazy to me. Because half of the time, all I’m doing is holding my finger down or just pressing one button to pump out heals on top of heals on top of heals on top of heals.

    For better or worse, people need to remember Luna Snow's 12 ult is also a 12 second animated dance. If they change her ult time, they need to give her a new dance, which means even if they want to change ult duration it isn't quite as easy as a numbers change

      Considering they weren't aware enough as devs to not bind in-game numbers to frames, I wouldn't expect a change like that this early. And that's considering something as basic as that on Unreal.

      Or they can just cut the dance early. It might look strange, but the animation should not force them to keep it at a certain duration. They likely could also just speed up the animation (which again could look weird but better than limiting themselves).

    To clarify Psylocks ultimate. It is not randomized nor does the player control who is hit. She targets the enemy in her ultimate(which is a sphere btw) who has been hit the least by it for a lot of single target damage, this repeats 7-8 times and slow people hit. This means that her dps is directly tied to the amount of enemies in her ultimate. If there are too many targets it pretty much does nothing. Before this patch she would not consider anyone with a bubble a target and would just focus the rest of their team, but now she will waste slashes on bubbles.

    I've played this game a fair bit (GM). Overall i like this patch quite a lot. It's not perfect but think their changes were pretty good and healthy for the game. The lack of nerf for healing ults is a miss but don't think it is too bad. They addressed the biggest issues and helped a lot of the struggling characters in a way didn't make anyone overly broken or completely gutted anyone. Genuinely think everyone is pretty playable at least in my rank, in the absolute top there will of course be some characters who can't perform.

      @@RD-um9dy absolutely true, most team based games like MOBAS and now rivals have a ban system to somewhat curtail what people find annoying or overpowered, hell rainbow has had it for years and it keeps a ton of the characters that are fundamentally bad for the game from even being playable. Idk how you can consider your game realistically competitive without a ban system, unless absolutely every character is around similar viability, for example like brawlhalla where there’s a lot of overlap between movesets across the entire cast.

    As a black panther one trick I really think what they should do is make his cooldowns way longer but cap the spirit rend to only remove one mark every dash. That way you could spam dash into groups more but with higher cooldowns it will punish the panther more for getting stunned or messing up.

      how would you feel with a small visual VFX trail when you dash to aid in people tracking the BP a bit more? I know its a skill expression to understand where the BP will end up after every dash but I see people even in Eternity and above complaining about how hard it is to track and combat a good BP. i do think BP should be rewarded for the obvious skill it takes to play him will

    As someone who plays a lot of Cap, the buffs are decently good but hes gonna be the same. The dash being 10secs is actually completely okay and even good, this is typically the ability most Caps use as an escape. It doesn’t do much damage, and he always has his run to chase people. So his dash is his “safety net” to disengage. The slam being longer makes complete sense because its his engage tool
    The shield regen is good for the same reasons, he just has slightly less wait time to go back in. The ult change is good because his damage numbers are low, and health is fine. As you said, he didn’t need survivability. But Im just glad they didn’t give him more damage, he can easily go into being broken lmao.
    Also, I dont want to be lumped into the toxic Marvel Rival fans, but I think youre still a little too harsh on this game that just barely released. The fact the game is almost kinda balanced is genuinely impressive, the broken stuff doesn’t feel that bad. Im not tired or bored of the game. I feel like you’re projecting all your frustration from OW onto this game because its not “learning from their mistakes”. But this is their own journey of balancing the game, its not a continuation of OW. All of things that make this game different is what I appreciate about it, and why I can like both games separately. And for community perception, it takes much longer for frustration to set in for the general audience. They’re being cautious and I can respect that. In fact, with the amount of heroes they’re releasing this season, I think its actually smarter to take this more cautious approach. The general audience loves the game still, theres no reason to potentially ruin that in the name of “good balance”

      I played cap a little bit the other day and it felt clunky to me, I couldn't shield while jumping, is that a thing ? Or was it because of a cooldown ? Also sometimes I want to hit in the air and the character dives, I think the dive needs a dedicated button

    23:00 as a Magik OTP, Darkchild is definitely on the weaker sides of dps ults especially when you take darkchild and living chi and compare them to hulk ult, which is just the supieor transformation ult.

      I kinda disagree, darkchild is pretty strong in what it can do but it doesn’t outright kill and still requires good effort to get those kills while putting yourself in danger with a much larger hitbox. The biggest issue I feel is the animations with entering and exiting the form. I’d like to see some kind of tuning near the end of the form that helps magik get to safety. I don’t hate this change though because it helps her get a more consistent one shot

      ​@@jamesgomez3455the animation makes it one of the worst DPS ults right now, you have to activate it behind cover and then disengage early or you blow up.
      And even then since you get no extra mitigation or hp teams can still blow you up if you do it all perfectly.
      They should that increase the bonus hp gained from damage so that I can actually pick something to kill instead of spamming dashes so the enemy hela doesn't 2 tap me and cancel my ult because I dared to not be in the portal.
      The exit animation should probably get removed too, so that you can clean up after your ult without insta dying.

      @jamesgomez3455 I mostly agree, but to clarify, because I did so poorly, I just think Darkchild is much less valuable considering the amount of risk involved for not reward compared to other DPS ults like starlord, punisher, Ironman, Storm (latest patch), Psylocke, wich are much safer and somtimes way easier to get value from.
      Not to say Darkchild is bad or needs changes to be just as simple as the others, quite the opposite, I like the difficulty. But it's clear to see that other DPS ults are just 9 times out of 10, a much better option.
      And then you compare it to something like Hulk ult, which is similar in idea in that they are both ults that transform and enhance the normal capabilities of the characters base kit as an ult, even if Hulks is understandable more defensive/second life oriented as a tank and Darkchild more damage based. It's still a little hard to swallow that Hulks is still better in every regard for what it is meant to do than Darkchild.
      In general, I wish that Darkchilds enty and exit was faster, or more interestingly: if you could animation cancel it with abilities like disk or incursion. Additionally, it would be nice if Darkchild had a very slight increase in max hp. 325 would be nice, even if it means a reduction in shields gained while in Darkchild. It just feels TOO risky imo.

    Thor is definitely unintuitive for your average shooter player, but I think he has a very cool Brawler archetype going once you figure out how to lean into his melee range hero identity. Even with no wind-up storm surge can travel 10 meters and carry enemies for 6. His sustain is better when cycling his regular abilities compared to going into awakening rune. Lightning Realm feels super impactful if you can slow squishy characters with it.
    I think the reason he has to have a global cooldown is otherwise he would be getting 200 bonus hp at the start of every fight. It would completely destroy one of the main reasons to go into awakening state.

      Even then you still don’t use abilities like the hammer throw (I guess you use it to do more damage at melee range, but you never use it at range)
      Maybe it should be decoupled from the ressource and have fast cooldown so you can use it at anytime without worrying about wasting ressources

      @@ni9274 You want it tied to the resource because then using hammer throw gives you 100 temporary shield health. If it was decoupled from the shared resource you would probably need to buff it honestly.

    Psylockes ultimate doesnt slash at random people, it will always prioritize the person who has been hit the LEAST within her range, thats why you want to group up for it so that it doesnt hit the same person twice quickly

    Don't get me wrong, I love Mantis, but her movement speed was really too high. With her passive up she could run 8,5 meters per second, which is higher than Captain America's sprint (~8 meters per second). As a support with crazy utility, high damage and healing.

    7:15 yea im sure alot of people want heros to function more for them, shooter fans want more shooter heros, dive fans want more dive heros, frag dps want storm to be a frag dps not a utility based one but guess what, not every design is made for you, people enjoy thor for his unique playstyle, his playstyle isnt problimatic for others and he even sees alot of play in all ranks so at this point, youre just asking for selfish needs that could potentially ruin what makes the thor mains enjoy him, maybe they like that heavy restriction on decision making with in the kit, it may seem clunky to you but maybe thats the type of skills that player best resonates with and finds he can derive the most value and fulfillment in...
    Just like how i enjoyed storm more before the buffs as it placed a much bigger emphasis on her movement tech with her strafing, assisting your teammates, and a heavy emphasis on positioning... skills that are sorely lacking in most players tbh, but skills i found i resonated with alot and now while i get mvp every game, i noticed my assists are very low and im not being challenged mentallty in the same ways that drew me to the hero in the first place... sorry but sometimes your opinions and feelings of a hero just dont vibe with the players that do enjoy them, if you enjoyed every single hero inna game, that games either got no true diversity or youre just the single most easy to please person alive, so if theres designs in the game you find clunky and bad, maybe its because its just not for you bro...
    Players say storms movement makes her feel clunky and stiff, meanwhile i look like a humming bird as i zip around you as storm 😂

      Storm before the buff was unironically throwing. She should not, in a game with so much damage and sustain, be helpless and useless in the sky. The "utility" of speed and damage doesnt make up for the fact that she herself is easily killed, offers nothing with the speed buff and isnt able to kill someone within 6 shots.
      Her shots were slow af and did no damage, youre a flying pylon of easy kills, if youre not easy to kill then youre no where near close enough to the battle to make your utility worth it instead of literally picking any other DPS.
      A good player on Storm is a better player on literally anyone else. She needed buffs, whether (weather ;)) or not they had to be damage buffs, Quality of life or movement buffs we dont quite know but even now so she feels more balanced in a 5/10 hero, instead of a 2/10 that she was, but going against literally anyone that isnt Captain america (Who isnt great) Black panther, or possibly Wolverine, shes dog tier.

      @scotttimbrell8632 yea you just didn't play storm enough bro, why do I need dmg when I can boost my teams dmg to melt the tank on the front line? Why do I need to compete head to head with other dps? I'll chill with my backline and make my support unkillable, to make it nearly impossible to get to my supports, and no, there really isn't any hero who does what storm does, if I'm struggling to break through a choke or my backlines being assaulted, I swap storm and instantly have an easier time...
      And she is not a 5/10 now... players are already feeling the effects of having a storm on the enemy team without the storm even interacting with them, flats for example was blowing up as tank and couldn't figure out why and than at the end his chat was saying its storm and than he tried storm today and said she's likely perma banned this season... not because she does better dmg, but because her doing better dmg allowed for people who suck at storm to play her and now everyone's realizing just how utterly busted her utility is... also learn to strafe dude, easy to kill? Tell that to Tim the tat man when he faced one of the best storms on ladder and flipped out because of their crazy movement that made him unable to land a shot...
      But i agree she needed better movement, not in base god no, do not make her strafing even more potent... give her a dash because most players that aren't amazing at reading a fight and positioning correctly would find a dash to be immensely helpful, while adding more depth to her kit for people already good with her, and it would help for those moments you catch the hawkeye out the corner of your eyes but yea don't got the time to react, I think it's fair if we gave her a short dash for those moments, and the faster projectile speed was a nessisary! But the dmg is just diluting the skills needed that made her fun and unique.

    @22:35 Changes for Magik; either remove the stupid transition animation on her ult or give some sort of damage reduction. It's frustratingly clunky to just die because you're in an unskippable cutscene waiting for your character to go in/come out of ult.

      I think that its perfectly ok to not have fun with something that someone else is having fun with. That doesnt mean there is something inherently wrong with that thing. I went into the game with a stack of 6 and one of us just wasnt feeling the game. The other 5 are still having a blast after 100+ hours of just gaming together.
      People will probably argue "its because friends make anything better" well my counter to that is "doing anything alone can also inherently make something worse". Going out to play a sport at the community park will likely not be as fun as going out to play it with people you know. It doesnt make that activity bad though and people gotta learn this. Gamers seem to want everything to be perfect, cater to them, hit all their highs, never have lows, and somehow keep them pleased like they are looking for something wrong for that rush of wanting better.

      oh I agree I don’t think it’s bad game. I actively want to enjoy it. That’s my problem I’m trying really hard cause I think it’s an attractive game with cool mechanics I just don’t know what’s wrong with my brain that won’t get into it. It’s like fighting myself to make myself enjoy it.
      I think the game is fine the way it is and in no way think it’s “bad” it’s actually quite the opposite

      This game will unfortunately be flooded with abilities that are just there to be used sooner rather than later. The fact that they insist on open queue being the main format only exacerbates this issue.

      @@BalkanGames Really open queue is the problem? Not sure what you guys want because people fall in line pretty easy and I climbed to Gold 2 just today. Could probably go higher but communication is key. Just you have to be able to lead the charge to get what you want. The strategist are OP and the game revolves around their CD's so I haven't seen people not wanting to play them. The tanks have some of the best combos in the game and hulk strange iron man is still a menace teamup. The DPS are the ones with the least wiggle room since you don't have a lot of health and most of them don't have self heal. And people are playing more than just the top 2 heros. Maybe stop going into the game expecting it to be OW and you'll have fun.

Don’t worry though they will come to understand that you just want what’s best for this game and community. And seeing devs balance on winrate is disturbing indeed.

      Eh. The devs are balancing off who the best heroes both from win rate and tournament play. For example, Wolverine is a slight nerf for tournament player (where he was seeing play) but a buff for those who sucked at him

    Another game that babies supports:
    1. Most of them don't need aim
    2. Ult's are borderline uncounterable apart from one shots
    3. They get these ults extremely fast
    4. Despite not being as mobile as OW supports but can someone tell me why characters like Luna, Mantis and Sue who already can fight back have 275 HP and small model? Like genuinely you look at them and then look at someone like Loki and Magik who have 250 hp. But they have 275 like freaking Punisher who is built like a brickwall
    5. And now we are getting sustain buffs
    They get the benefit of the doubt for their first patch but imo this doesn't look good at all

      I mean there is a couple differences. Most supports don’t have as many mobility for espacing as overwatch but get High dps and utility tool to fend off divers. The ultimates are the failure in this design and hoping they nerfed. Also invisible woman is way worse than on first glance.
      I will also say while cloak and dagger don’t require aim ( dagger still kinda does) they have a much higher skill celling than Moria.
      Jeff is probably the lowest skill support but I still feel like he’s a health low skill support but requires a completely different mindset playing him at high level ( he’s more flanker oriented).His ult for example, is very simple at low levels but at high levels getting value requires tons of skills.

    The amount of people not fully taking in that Thor can gain 100 shield every 2 second is mindnumbing.
    Imagine telling someone they can press a button 30 times for 1 minute and gain 3,000 health and they tell you Thor needs a buff.

    Psylock ult goes in a random sequence and strikes every enemy 1 time before moving to first person in the sequence. (a-b-c-a-b-c, or, a-c-b-a-c-b) The hit check is done slightly before the animation plays, if you are in the radius and its your turn the animation will follow you to do the animation. If you escape the radius before its your turn you will not be hit.
    Storm is probably high A tier now.

      Storm is B/C still. Shes too easily killed, or doesnt offer as much value as anyone else. She now kills in 5 autos, while she is easily killed by any hitscan in 2/3. Shes not great.

      @@mitra1307 Yes, got blasted by punisher, got blasted by Winter soldier, got blasted by Hawkeye and Hela, got blasted by iron fist, got blasted by Spiderman, got blasted by Mr Fantastic, got blasted by Luna, Mantis, Adam and all I got off was a few autos. I dunno if you're just going against people who can't consistently aim, or are able to take you out of commission, but her still taking 5 autos to kill someone still gives her a low TTK and is still easily targetable to most DPS and supports. (Tanks obviously struggle against her)

      @ I have about 15 hours on storm and got a couple 0 death matches in gm. You pretty much always want to stay on ground level behind the tank or play around the environment, while still being close to the enemies. You can kill a 275hp character with two autos and one rightclick if they are in your damage boosted zone.
      The only character ive been having problems against is spiderman, but he doesn't really get played too often and will have a rough season in general.
      I see her banned in every second match right now, because she doesn't really have any counter play if played correctly.

    The wolverine changes are interesting. With undying animal at 50% reduction and his base hp at 300 if he had his regeneration passive at max rage he has an effect hp pool of 900. With the prior conditions met but with no rage he has an effective health pool of 675 and without his passive at all its 450. Now with the change at max rage with undying animal his effective hp becomes 910, at no rage its 700 and without his passive it's 490. So its a net buff to his health pool, and a nerf when it comes to tanking certain one shots like iron man ult. But the difference of effective hp gets lower when he has access to his passive so, considering that its easier to heal someon taking half damage and he can survive more one shots it truly a shift to his options and i think its honestly a bit limiting

    I’m a Thor player and I love his playstyle. The game rewards you for playing aggressively. You storm charge in, call your lightning realm, smash, smash, SMASH, use your awakening rune, and then throw your hammer at the cowards who are running away.

    There's unlisted changes too. Venom right click slows more. Hawkeye passive charge was reduced. Idr what else. Hope it was a mixup and ALL changes will be in the notes in the future. Otherwise why have them.

    I think people are misunderstanding what the seasonal buffs are, they arent well communicated at all but what it's really just a temporary bonus for the amchors in teamups, i imagine if they ever end up being the recievers like if abomination gets added and hulk gets a new ability they'll lose the bonus

    Okay hear me out. I know it's a video game but if you think about it in terms of lore Doctor strange has to cast a spell to make a shield right? Captain America has his shield ready on his arm at all times but it takes a 1 second cool down to put it back up to defend himself....... Doctor strange has zero cool down. He can throw his shield up as much as he wants but Captain America has to wait to use it again. By the lore alone cap should be able to use his shield whenever he wants and Doctor strange should be the one with the cool down because he has to cast a spell.... Does that make sense?
    Even with the deflect which is random and cannot be directly controlled, I still think caps shield should be ready to go whenever you press the button.

    I personally love playing Thor in rivals currently. I love the concept of having a shared cool down resource based character. The only changes I would make is lowering the shared cool down after using an ability from two to one second. The next change is that I would increase the damage of his hammer throw and give it a knock back effect pushing enemies back if hit directly or pulling them in if it his an enemy when it returns to you. The last thing I would change is making his mobility option cost two hammers instead of one and increase it's velocity.

    I really like most of the patch notes except some of the support parts; Rocket definitely shouldn't have recieved a healing buff but a slight spread reduction and an increasing falloff range to 15m to 25m. Rocket's falloff is already so extreme (40%) that even with less spread and longer falloff he still wouldn't be a mid range menace. Falloff at 10m and spread makes his weapon into a water gun past at anything out of melee range. No luna ult nerf is insane and the mantis nerf is definetely the wrong choice imo. Otherwise I'm honestly really satisfied with the patchnotes, just stings that the support changes are pretty trash.

      I agree with everything you said except the racoon part. I think increasing the healing on his right click can give him more opportunity to be proactive. When reading his kit I thought he would be similar to baptiste alternating between left click and right click, but his healing is too low, he doesn't have time to shoot. Eternity racoon players barely have any damage from what I see.
      Now racoon has the 2nd highest left click dps in the game (192) if I'm not mistaken, behind punisher's shotgun (200), so I think they designed him with that effective range in mind. So I'm okay with his falloff being so short and extreme and the high spread . Also he has enough mobility to get out of trouble if he went too close for his own good

      @zilliq-qz5uw Buffing his heal makes you heal more, not less. Unless your team is at full HP at all times. Buffing his gun means you shoot more. It should be hitscan with tighter spread, realistically. Right now it's only good for clearing Loki clones or Namor squids.

      @@user-et3xn2jm1u I played a couple of QP games of racoon the other night and had a lot of fun alternating between shooting 2-3 well placed bouncing balls and railing at the frontline, I got around the same amount of damage than heals and same amount of heals as my counterpart. Loki clones are usually too far to shoot at as racoon, and divers move too much for the slow projectiles of racoon, but tanks are perfect targets and don't expect nearly 400dps in their face from a racoon

He said you would thought it would be like bap, alternating between shooting and healing, but thats not the case cus the heal output is too slow and the gun is too inconsistant. They possibly buffed the healing so he was able to shoot more but honestly the whole left click to right click thing is so sluggish that unless they allowed you to fire a hitscan minigun and fire healing balls at the same time, I doubt this sort of change will do anything to help that playstyle.
      Youre also wrong, his gun is quite good at bursting tanks with his high damage to their heads and being able to escape them and heal himself at the same time. Many tanks have lost their life due to diving him, possibly add it to your playstyle and see what happens.

      @@scotttimbrell8632 If you are point blank, then yes the gun is ok. But if you're shooting you're not healing, and they increased that opportunity cost. And also why are you point blank when you have 3 different forms of mobility, two of them powerful. Hulk jumps you, you press shift and maybe climb to high ground, assuming anyone turns around that should be the end of that unless the hulk is willing to throw away his life.
      What was said was " his healing is too low, he doesn't have time to shoot". I don't know where people get the idea that if a tool is weak you should use that tool as much as possible, but it's not how balance works. If he's not shooting, it's because his healing is that much stronger than shooting. Why shoot, when you don't deal damage unless you're in melee range, and you can mass heal your entire team instead? Staying alive means you can farm more rezes as well, giving you even more incentive to play safe and play for right clicks.

    I've got two specific changes that i want to see, I want Namor tp have free flight its kind of super important to his character that he flies, and I think generally flying characters should have just slightly more base move speed

      Character would feel clunky and unresponsive, I don't think it's the right nerf. If you hear an ultimate voice line you should have the opportunity to block it reactively.
      Now if you loose all your shield and it falls on cooldown then the opponents have an opportunity to ult and it feels deserved

      @opticalmoose8091 sigma's shield stays up, it's not comparable at all, a good comparison would be Reinhardt's shield and adding 1s CD on that would be horrible. Also I don't think cap has a 1s CD, you can spam toggle the shield and there are advanced animation cancel techs using the shield

    Storm is no faster in her movement. the projectile speed change is the most impactful one theyve made imo. Way mor consistent at poke range which matters a lot due to her damage drop off. She shreds rn with the flat number buffs being technically bigger due to her passive damage buff. The 10 extra damage on her bolt rush cast for example is technically 11-13 extra damage depending.

    1:20:01 2 days ago, I played some comp and went up against a Lord rocket. My teammate went punisher and 3 of them were begging me to go rocket.
    I ended up going rocket, and, their rocket, while on offense got their ult when I was getting to the 50% mark. I realized then that I was doing something wrong and was healbotting too hard (I had played him once or twice before). So, I started really spamming heal less and more of doing the Moira bounce heal or at a teammate thing and shoot the enemy. I got my ult out, and they got their second ult when I was about 30% into my second ult charge.
    So I ended up deciding to deal as much damage as possible and use my heal more sparingly. Juggle it more, like you would on bap. I ended up normalizing my ult cycle with the enemy rocket doing so. Even if the damage seems rather minor, it really helped me get more consistent ult charge, faster. I didn't play anymore Raccoon since, but it felt way better gameplay-wise than my previous attempts at him. He also didn't feel too under powered compared to the rest of the cast, he simply has a different gameplan.
    That's what I think at least.

      I've been using rocket (one of my favorite characters) because of movement and anti dive. I've had venom spiderman and black panther jumping me just for me to super jump and break all their ankles. I think the key is to find good bounces on heals. I tend to have 0 kills 0 deaths and 40 assists with 20k+ healing.

      Bear in mind that racoon has amongst the highest dps in the game (192) and can crit but has enormous spread and extreme falloff range and damage. His gun is actually very similar to punisher's shotgun in that regards and should probably be used as such

    Idk, I feel like Black Panther's "same gameplay loop" issue is just how the game works. Most of the hero kits are complex but shallow. Venom is complex, web swing and wall run take a long time to master, especially on all the maps. But you use those abilities to do the exact same functions, the same setplays. Rocket Raccoon has three separate movement mechanics including an omnidirectional dash with two charges, plus a projectile whose effect depends on map geometry. He uses this tech to spam heal orbs down lane and hide his rez station, he's Lifeweaver cosplaying as Lucio.
    I feel like a lot of characters have kit issues tbh, but that's the game, it's fun anyway because 6v6 in destructible environments with lots of melee, mobility and projectiles that make it harder to just pick a hitscan and win.
    Watching more and yeah the supports in this game, I feel like that has to be their vision. They want support to be the low effort left click role, because I guess they think that's what support players want. They really bought into the "girlfriend role" stereotype that support players have been fighting against for a generation now.

    I been playing this game cuz the hype behind it but now it feels like I'm forcing myself to like this game cuz of the content creators over selling it. It hasn't grabbed me by the cheeks like i was hoping it would, maybe overwatch spoiled me with its fluid gameplay, but I just went back to overwatch lol

    The game has only been out for a little over a month. I think it only makes sense for these changes to be pretty minimal as people figure out what works and what doesn't. Some of them are questionable, but I think others make sense. None of them changed the identity of the hero. Like the rocket heal buff. Yes he needs more damage, but he was seen before the patch as an unkillable healbot (that doesnt do enough heals) with some utility. So to keep his identity and allow him to be more playable they gave him better heals. His orbs dont stack so 60 heals per second is not really comparable to the other supports even if it is a large aoe.

    I've gotten wolverine to Lord and I can tell you with 100% certainty that his entire gameplay loop revolves around undying animal. I would say that these changes are a net Nerf to the character and the fact that they consider it a buff has me kind of nervous.

      I think it’s a minor nerf but a buff in some situations ( you are not one shot by Hawkeye for starter). Even more so it’s a buff for plebs who complained about Wolverine non stop without over buffing a character who was already considered strong competively. I think it’s actually smart of the devs.

    Most of the changes are great but some characters received buffs that I feel didn’t really need them,
    like c&d, and bucky. I also wish they nerfed lunas ult duration because it’s so boring when nothing dies for 12+ seconds and I wanna see more diversity in what supports are played in comp

      C&D aren't better alternatives to Mantis or Luna so that buff made them more viable and handy in their own way. They're fantastic at healing and can push back the enemy but their overall DMG output is negligible and often less useful than just focusing on healing and waiting for their veil to come off cooldown.
      In high rank, you need Ults to win the game. Everything else is cosmetic.
      For example: You could play storm and win because her ultimate bought time and destroyed the enemy team sticking on the payload/objective. But you could do the same with Moon Knight or any other DPS.
      C&D's Ult is not that great because it doesn't kill the enemy team or buy enough time to get your team to kill the enemy team. And even when you place the Ult, most teammates don't use it. So it basically does nothing. Luna can literally track her team so that they're always inside. C&D? Predict and pray they use it. If not? It's like they never ulted in the first place. Mantis doesn't even need to keep track of her team, she just goes in and will get free value every time.

    Strange shouldn’t be nerfed in a major way, I’m happy he has play making ability. It feels good to play him. The other tanks need more play making ability if they don’t make up for it in utility. Actually I do have one problem with his kit. Portal is really stupid a gimmicky. It comes up inconsistently, and a lot of its applications are super toxic like warping people over to the third point and making them walk all the way back Or trapping people in spawn. I think this would be a much more interesting and dynamic part of his kit if you could place it down like a sym teleport every like 20-30 seconds.
    Like groot feels good cause of his walls, Penni is solid because she stops dive and melee in general plus holds chokes really well.
    But then magneto feels like bad dr strange. I wish they focused on his bubble and its utility. Like I see zarya bubble and I stop shooting cause fully charged zarya makes me shit myself. Shooting a magneto bubble? I literally don’t care. He gets his rings back a little faster than normal, big whoop. This isn’t to say he’s bad btw, just now impactful enough.
    Captain America, you said it already he just feels like all you can do is hang out in the edges of the fight not really able to do anything, but i guess I don’t die. His changes did nothing for him. People hear the word buff and assume it’s improvement he’s stayed the same.
    Thor feels clunky. I can’t fight well from a range, I have no shield to get in close or help take space, my sustain is a little extra shield and my dmg is melee range, my burst dmg sucks and awakening rune only works at long distance, it gives me 300 shield which is melted in seconds so you can’t use it to force your way into the backline like say ramattra can if no one else is willing to play tank he’s pretty terrible, as an off tank he’s okay, but honestly I think you’re better off playing dps at that point. None of the thors I watch have made me think he feels good. I keep trying but it doesn’t click and I’m never like man this Thor is a problem, mind you I was d1 last season so it’s not like I’m in bronze watching children playing Thor.
    Hulk on his own is not a good character, like if hulk doesn’t have the team up with Ironman and strange then he feels whatever. I could have sword I wrote this down but I don’t see it here I wish that hulks gamma shield maybe buffed his dmg or something like if you shoot it, his punches get charged going from 40 to say 65 proportionally to the charge of his “gamma meter” or whatever you want to call it. This isn’t about balance it’s about making the character feel good to play.

    Yo spilo I highly disagree about darkchild being weaker than psy ult
    I 1 tricked psy until bans happen in Diamond and psy ult is good when people don’t know how to counter play
    But when you take into account all of the counter play options not controlling psylock and her ult AI being clunky and getting stuck on walls can be challenging
    When I tried dark child even though I can die I find it offers me more opportunity too adapt too the enemy teams counterplay than on psylock
    Just my opinion I love you spilo

    I'm tired of two main things. Number one is the abundance of near immortality support ults, every fight is wait until support ults or try to bait it out then I can ult, wait no I cant because they have ANOTHER giant "AOE heal circle" where no one dies. Sue storm makes this even worse its like her ult then lunas ult and we die three times in between trying to get these ults out but ive been holding my ult till then and by the time I get an opportunity they have em again. Fucking nerf supports even if just a few of the ults, lunas, mantis, sue storm, cloak. I dont wanna hear this bullshit about "nerfing stuff ruined overwatch", shit needs to be nerfed in reality and supports are the top of the list. Other one is the bots in qp, but for real gut the support ults.

    I really enjoy Luna Snow, but I do my best to avoid using her ult. It's 12 seconds of doing nothing, and now I don't even get to play with my scroll wheel while I wait to play the game again.
    The rest of her kit is awesome though. She has a lot of skill expression... well at least mechanical skill expression.
    I don't like supports that heal for free, at least I have to aim to provide value.
    The rest of the patch seems fine? Nothing heavy handed and that's probably the right way to handle it.

    I really hate what they did with venom. He is my favorite character in the entire roster but I just hate playing him. He just doesn't feel like venom should. Venom is such a unique character from the comics that has a insane list of unique abilities that could have been implemented. I think that his E should be completely deleted it doesn't fit the character at all. It should be replaced with a sheild block that reduces damage from the front. He uses his shap shifting abilities in the comics many times to create a sheild.

    What is with all the Thor hate everywhere. I've been playing Thor and hands down he has to be one of my favorite vanguards. Extremely tanky with insane mobility if Im not mistaken you regen thorforce with every hit. So initiate with your dash, lightning bubble garner 3 hits and the increased shield from the dash go use his awakened mode rinse repeat. I'll use hammer toss to poke if my teams not ready to push

    They said they’ll do more Substantial nerfs in s2, I do fully believe they’ll nerf sustain, but their observing what and what not to do, as their adding 4 characters, and most likely will do another mid adjust mid season before the other 2. The devs are smart, and they do know, I assume they want to play around with numbers without doing too much that disrupts the natural flow of the game plan right now. It’s a good patch it’s not offensive or completely nothing. Their also very receptive to criticism, I’m sure they see people want the sustain nerf, I have a feeling the human torch with have anti healing effects. As they usually don’t add something without addressing the issue.

      season 2 is 90 days away. that is a long time to sit in a bad game state. all these patch notes indicate is the devs dont care about the competitve side of the game. every change here except one is in the complete wrong direction or completely and utterly miss the mark with why a character is strong/weak.
      the hela and hawkeye nerfs are literally irrelevant, literally irrelevant. luna being untouched is insane. sustain being buffed is insane. bad tanks only got 25 health which is an irrelevant amount of health. venom buff misses the mark entirely. storm is still a bad character but people are realising she is good just for ult, like spiderman who is terrible but his ult is great. mantis got nerfed in the absolute wrong way.
      these patchnotes are a bad bad bad bad bad omen and now we just have to see what mid season is.
      remember, games like this struggle to keep casual audiences, unbalanced is almost always looked down upon, people will say "its more fun and we dont care about comp" but will cry when they get messed up by a broken character and it will get to a point where people just dont play anymore. the comp side of this game needs to thrive if they want to keep a large playerbase. content creators dont play casually. if they dont have fun, game loses a large part of its marketing and a large part of its playerbase.
      this patch is straight ass and they only added one map when the game is already starting to lean on the repetitive side because its not fun playing tokyo 2099 4 games in a row

      @@kregman6928except I watch actual competive players and they believe the storm buff is extremely significant ( potential making her low S or high A). Hela is worse into dive and her break points did change enough. Hawkeye is still very strong however but the archer’s focus nerf does force him into closer range. Additionally Wolverine being 350 health means that there are duelists he can’t one shot. Venom buffs make him one of the better tanks in the game.

There is anything coherently bad, it’s just a good patch it adjusted some of the crazy characters and their still great, their just slightly tweaking them. Why make a huge adjustment for what reason as they need to see the vision of the game, that was the problem with overwatch as a person who played locally comp, this was their issue, and when they needed to change something they never did it. This isn’t the case here. So stop spiting nonsense while being plat and barely understand what you’re saying, and keep a constant comparison to ow when it’s not, ow doesn’t have characters that can one combo kill you from 15 meters, animation cancel, eat you admit Throw you off the map. All that would be absolutely crazy in ow, but this isn’t ow so it isn’t applicable, same way like a Cassidy would be destroyed in this game, with his roll and flash, certain things have to stay at a certain metric to maintain that level of consistency.     Spilo is clearly the type of person that needs to back away from Rivals or at least sit back until he has an actual grasp of the game. He’s pulling OW logic over, not the same game. These patch notes were thoughtful. With the exception of Hela, he shit on every single character as the “worst” character. Dude needs to back out of rivals with this negativity, don’t need rivals to turn into the toxic wasteland that OW did.

      Spilo is one of the least toxic people out there, he is critical, but not toxic. The guy just believes in fundamental skill-based characters and abilities that have decision making rather than being one-dimensional or braindead.

      I’m feeling that too, it’s just really negative for a game that just came out. It’s their first balance patch, he’s acting like it’s effecting an OWL or some shit and it’s gonna ruin the meta. Not to mention, it’s a good patch with a lot of good changes.
