RIP John Madden. '94 was the first Madden game I ever played.

I dunno I just think EA simply had their own side of sports games they whipped up and brought to the dinner table. EA games (sports games generally) were typically about fast action in their sports titles and only got better (Imo) sequel after sequel.
Agreed. I don't even know why they make a big deal about 94 anyways. NFL 94 was far superior. 94 is just another rehash of 92. My personal fav is 95 though. the rosters from that year are incredible
Alex Guerra Yeah. I love 96 on Mega Drive. Great music and football playing sprites. In the 16-bit universe I think this (probably besides 97 and 98) is the most realistic of the ones previous.
I remember you can play with the old teams on here. OJ Simpson & Barry Danders were both beasts in this game
Tecmo bowl would be laughing at this. What a beast or classic game tecmo bowl was. Best of its states and a simple pixelized game, best in the 80s and 90s.

I had Madden 94 and Joe Montana 94 as a kid. They weren't in the same league Montana 94 had better graphics, gameplay and commentating.

Joe Montana 94 was graphically superior.
But was one of the hardest games I’ve ever played. Graphics were before it’s time. But passing the ball was horrible. Madden 94 and Techmo Super Bowl were the games

@@whataboutrob442 Ye the passing system was awesome actually. I think people might be playing it wrong. To bullet pass in Montana you tap the button, to lob it you hold it. Most people are used to the reverse.

why do people get such a hard on about Madden 94? This wasn't even the best football game out that year (NFL 94 with Joe Montana was). IMO it goes 95, 93, 98, 92, 96 and then 94
Montana 94 was a terrible game. Yes, the commentary was nice, the playbook was certainly better than Madden's and player names were a great addition to the history of sports gaming but the atrocious on-the-field gameplay made me dislike that game. The gameplay was just better in Madden 94. However, the original Joe Montana Football game on the Genesis was VERY impressive but they changed the entire game when they released those Montana "sports talk" games.

Madden '94 was a great game! My dad bought it and we were playing it in 1998 lol. They sure did mess up the ratings meter on '94 though. Barry Sanders had a poor rating and Emmitt an average. But they fixed the ratings meter on Madden '95. The crazy thing is both Emmitt and Barry were actually great backs on the game despite the thermometer rating meter. The thermometer lied lol. For whatever reason they messed up the ratings meter. They did the same thing to Minnesota. That RB on Minnesota was a beast, but the meter said poor. That guy wasn't even that good in real life. I looked up Barry Word. The other backs weren't anything special, unless you use the throwback Super Bowl teams.

Me and My Cousin played Madden NFL 94 on the Genesis Console in the 90's and the SNES in the 2000s before i had the Emulators since 2005
Memories....
This Madden is so special because it is totally different from previous Madden's in its look and is a completely different looking game than Madden 94 on the SNES. It plays wonderfully and if only it had windowless passing it would be my favourite Madden on Genesis. Next best football game is Bill Walsh 95, it's Madden 94 with Windowless passing and 2 point conversions.

The first Madden to officially have the NFL license. Though it wouldn't have the Players Association license yet (hence why players are still only refered to by number), that wouldn't happen until next year. Also the first Madden to have a season mode.
Does anybody remember the barry sanders glitch ? Using b.s on a kick return run to the opposing 1 yard line get tackled, then use the hb sweep left , hold down the stiffarm button and run 99 yards for a touchdown every single time . For some reason b.s cant be tackled while stiffarming . Nuts

in 95 they were all black. new gay black designer came in and changed the game around.
