Two points: firstly, Billy Wilder actually 12 writing Oscar nominations.
Secondly: both *Roman Holiday* and *Charade* are great films.

Charade and Roman Holiday are both incredibly original and well made films, far from the basic formulaic mold of a romantic comedy. Also roman holiday ends with the two leads going their separate ways and likely never to see each other again.

I don't think Woody Allen makes romantic comedies so much of what you say here is somewhat redundant. Films like ANNIE HALL, MANHATTAN, HANNAH AND HER SISTERS are essentially existential dramas about falling in and out of relationships. PLAY IT AGAIN SAM is the closest he has come to writing something akin to a romantic comedy. As for breaking the mold of the romantic comedy, Billy Wilder did that already in, for example, THE APARTMENT.

Since his marriage and family difficulties, Woody Allen's many contributions to cinema receive far less attention than speculations as to whether or not he 'did it.' Thank you for focusing on his artistic accomplishments. If only modern filmmakers were as focused on creating real, human narratives, perhaps there'd be still something in theaters for adults to enjoy, rather than endless sewers of vapid superhero drivel.

I am and always will be an Audrey fanatic love her rom com style but yes that era got stale quick. Woody definitely did subvert and start a whole new movement of neurotic, nerdy, realistic romance. People are allowed to agree or disagree on his personal life choices of course I mean I know I don’t agree with anything he’s personally done, but his movies are amazing and hold a place in cinematic history for sure.

very well done. woody is not on the money as consistently as he was at the height of his powers (Annie Hall, Manhattan, Hannah, Purple Rose etc etc) but he is still so interesting and influential. an astonishing body of work. btw what is the music you use under the opening and end credits please?

great video glorifying woody by a fanboy, good job, but shouldn't be done at the cost of classics such as Roman Holiday and Charade. Plus, Peck and Grant aren't just tall and handsome men, their speech and expressions are invaluable.

'great roles for women' that's rich, he molested one of his daughters (and married the other). I know many people don't know about this, but those that do and continue to praise him despite the pain he's inflicted on others - please resort your priorities.

i don't know what's true but you might want to consider all the versions of this story before giving judgment
From what i read in the book "Start to Finish: Woody Allen and the Art of Moviemaking" Farrow and Woody's son defended him and said that his mother was abusive with all of the children. You can easily look it up if you are interested www.theguardian.com/film/2014/feb/05/woody-allen-dylan-farrow-moses
      www.kennethinthe212.com/2018/01/dylan-farrow-says-her-molestation.html
I wrote this just in case you wanted to explore another perspective i don't want to tell you what is the truth.
