Seriously, I think that every dog owner (especially large breed dogs) needs to have some kind of a fetch toy. Your arm simply cannot out last the dog's energy. I think the ChuckIt! is the best one out there. If you know of another one I should try, please leave me a comment below and tell me all about it.
I have got tennis elbow with throwing the ball for my Shepherd so on here looking for an altenative. I have now bought the new Nerf ultra. Hope it helps
But I think it's pretty cool to use a ball chucking gun, no doubt my dog would love anything that puts a ball out at a decent distance at a faster pace, but anything that gets my dog some exercise is cool in my opinion.
@@mattfletchall5550 I agree! Most people have no idea how much energy a dog has. A walk on a leash can't do much for a dog. My dogs are lucky enough to run free and get lots of exercise.
Please help. How do you throw with the Chuck it? I don't see any videos on how to throw it far. I have the large one for my 2 year old golden retriever. Every time I throw with it, it doesn't go very far. I am 5 ft one inch.
I realise that I’m looking for a niche here but can anybody point me in the direction of a ball that you can throw for a dog that’s easier to find when it’s dark? I live in England and the nights are setting in early as winter approaches. I’ve looked on Amazon and nothing fits the bill.
Hey! Chuckit sells the glow ball to use with the thrower or you can buy a chuckit ball that beeps and helps the dog find it (its hard plastic so it has to be used in grass).
@@MollyDies the nerf gun should be held together by a few screws. If you take it apart there will either be a spring or a rubber band for tension. You would replace it with a stiffer spring of the same size or a stiffer band of the same size. If you disassemble it be sure to take pictures so you can put it back together correctly. I gave away this model before I got to open it up so I’m not sure what it has. (Edit: I saw a clear version online that has a large band running the length of the barrel at the top. One ending of the band is attached inside above the grip and the other end is attached to the sliding orange piece on the top of the barrel from the inside. I don’t see any screws in online pictures so you may need to pry it open gently.)
@@eggyboi1217 ok perfect! Thanks so much for this starting point. I really appreciate it! I'll be playing around with it in the next couple of weeks :)
To be fair the Nerf launcher goes further than I can throw (I have fibromyalgia) but having previously used a basic ball wanger (chuckit) I know they go really far.
Dog prefers the guns but they all break or jam. The slings seem kind of pointless when you can just throw them, you can probably get better momentum and range just carrying around a tennis racket and lobbing off tennis balls. 😝
Wish I'd seen your video before shelling out the dough for that useless Nerf launcher. I'm on the Central Coast of California, with lots of off-leash dog beaches. The Chuckit has been a godsend to my 4-year-old Yellow Lab and me, and we do about 30 ocean Chuckit tosses a day. Only problem: I must be throwing it wrong, or I'm abusing muscles I haven't used in ages. I was intitially thrilled to find the Nerf launcher. I was sorely (literally) disappointed at the meager distance of the gun device. And party was over, once it got sand in it. The trigger froze solid. Major fail. It lasted one day. Do you know if is any kind of viable sling-shot type device that could fit the larger sized Chuckit ball? For ocean use, those blue and orange Chuckit balls are the gold standard. They seem virtually indestructible...and they float extremely well.
The Nerf thing is just a ridiculous gimmick, to be fair. Imagine turning up at the field with that great big plastic gun. Unless you're under 12 years old you're gonna look like a right whopper. Enjoyed the review, though. Cheers. X
@@DogFocusTraining with the regular old Chuckit! launcher, there's literally nothing that can go wrong, either. Unless you actually snap the thing in half, which would be difficult given the flexibility of it. You just know that big daft plastic gun, with its various components, is gonna konk out on you right in the middle of a session. X
Thx Dog Man i am here because of the Nerf Chuck-It, i realize its for Launching at Far Distances, not really Ranged for indoors (wont release)! Chuck it only Outdoors for pethaps when my Yorkie can chase off the leash somewhere legit/safe or a backyard
Like your description described your daughter being able to through farther than the gun shot… obviously not. When the first shot was fired your daughter retrieved it and threw it not nearly far enough to reach you after walking so…😐
I think I said I could throw it farther… not my daughter. I’ll go check and you do the same. Let me know what you hear. Maybe I misspoke, but. If you check it again the video will get another view 😬😜

Ya I have black lab
Tennis racket lol
Try a tennis racket. No joke.
Truth... R.I.P my rotator cuff.

With a Shepherd, you might be able to use one of these auto throwers. I am going to do a video on one in the near future. amzn.to/479F6Vv
If you swing your arm and pull the trigger at the peak of the swing I find it shoots just as far as the chuckit
Also, with Chuck it you got different selection of balls, some that whistle, some that have a super bounce and then there’s glow-in-the-dark
Great point!!
A great idea would be to use a tennis racket. I use those blue hand balls. They go farther, bounce more and don't soak up all the dog slobber.

thats actually a great idea. i can hit a tennis ball with a racquet way further than i can throw it.
I've used a tennis racket a couple a time too. It''s a lot better then just throwing the ball with your hand.

It has to do with when you flip your wrist.
I wonder if you put a smaller ball in the nerf thrower if it still would launch it
But which one does the dog like more?

Don't play fetch at night?

Nerf is pretty easy to mod so I bet I could put a stiffer spring in it!
I'm over here trying to find a mod for this. If you know how to go about doing this, any help would be appreciated :)

i bought this nerf gun at walmart last night and was very disappointed with it just does not shoot very far for my dog to fetch

🤝
Not sure if I could trust anybody that wears a vest.
Thank you for truly helpfull and straight-forward video, really helped me out :)
I'm gonna buy the NERF Dog launcher for use in NERF combat.
Love the Chuckit !
There's a shorter arm chuck-it for kids.

Used the Chuck it and developed tennis elbow

You can launch toilet paper out of the gun.
Doing a chuck it video without a dog.. lol
You look like a great dad
Do you live in Utah? I have a ton of family in the Kayesville and Provo areas.
I live in Utah Valley for now. We are moving to Idaho in a couple of weeks.
Dog Focus Training I love Idaho. My wife and I met at college in Rexburg.
Erik Anderson I grew up in Ammon, just south of Rexburg.
That is a beautiful place to grow up. I have actually been in communication with a breeder just outside of Idaho falls about getting a Lab puppy.

I'm with you on city limits, it annoys the hell out of me. Alot of things you can't even do on your own property.

I agree. That is kind of why I did the comparison.

DANGER: I just learned from the vet that it is NOT SAFE for dogs to play with tennis balls.
Yes old dogs and puppies
Bra 🫨🫡🍻🎄😮💨
I have no idea what you are saying, but incredible use of emojis. Kudos
Forget the dog , just play with your kids, much more rewarding!
