    The Blazar Nero has been one of my favorite purchases of 2024. I do collect quite a few vintage lenses and it helps me to amplify some of my favorite vintage characteristics. Bubble bokeh, painted background, swirly bokeh into a 1.5x anamorphic is way more exciting to me than a Remus.

      @KevinvanDiest  Месяц назад +1

      @@dukecha feel the same way. I tried the Remus at IBC and I must say that to me the flare is quite strong (leaning towards Sirui Venus) it would have been nicer to have a more subtle one with more flare character in it. This is the case with the Nero. And because you switch taken lenses you can control the type of flaring and character. This for me was, totally unexpected btw, a big conformation of having made the right choice of picking the Nero instead of the Remus. Not to mention that I can seriously use this one on all lenses and camera systems. And since I’m a MFT and L-mount user this is a major pro.

      @KevinvanDiest, I completely agree with this.
      On a different note, I own the blue flaring Blazar Nero. Most of my light flares appear neutral, and the blue hue only comes out under intense backlighting. For the most part, street lamps and windows appear neutral to me. Just another plus. My favorite characteristic from the adapter is vertical stretching of out of focus areas and aspherical rendering. Overall, great and I love the little thing

      @@dukecha Yes so true, same here. The vertical distortion character (stretch and barel) of this adapter is the most important part. Most people only do it for the flare, whereas I do it for the distortion and the 3D look of it. I got the amber, since I already have the Sirui Mars set which is blue. The amber is beautiful and so organic ..still subtle so indeed with some source just neutral.

    Great video - thanks for sharing. Can I ask what were your taking lenses used in the opening footage of your video? It looked as though you had a 7 Artisans 35mm lens attached later on when you were talking about your set up.

    Great review. Im wondering if this with some used Pentax Limited SMC 43mm and 77mm is a better option than some Blazar Remus lenses.

    • @KevinvanDiest
      @KevinvanDiest  3 месяца назад +1

      @@enriquetoso thx man! Well, I do think the Remus is nice …I was doubting between Remus and Nero. I went for Nero because of the practicality of it, because I work with both MFT and L from LUMIX so this way I can use it on both. Also the Remus is bigger and adding the needed PL to L or PL to MFT would make it even bigger. I’m still amazed by the fact that the Remus is cheaper

    please dont upload 1080p, nothing wrong with the res but on youtube the bitrate is shit, even tho if source is 1080p upscaling to 4k makes a ton difference for the youtubes transcoder

      @@KevinvanDiest it is strange because Sirui adapter work with autofocus lenses. All we need to do is find optimal distance using focus ring on adapter. And then autofocus will do the rest of the work. I thought that here we have the same situation...

    • @KevinvanDiest
      @KevinvanDiest  3 месяца назад

      @@ИванХаритонов-э9н don’t understand what you mean. As seen in video I also have that sirui adapter and yes it works the same but still AF is not an option. Just to be clear you mean using the AF system right? Or do you mean using AF lenses on it while still using them manual? Because the later is of course possible since you’re doing the same thing which is using MF for focus.

    No Lens Vignette on Meike 16mm in mft? What could be the widest taking lens without vignette?

    • @KevinvanDiest
      @KevinvanDiest  3 месяца назад

      @@bemboing4338 good question,thanks! Well the 16mm was more like an ‘lens size’ example because in usage this will create a strong vignette…one that shows the adapter in the frame.
      So I think you could go to max 22mm, maybe 20mm but depends on the lens type (short built lenses are preferable).
      In my case I choose to go max 25mm because then I can use a step up ring + ND and have a light nice vignette. I think going wider doesn’t create a pretty picture ..32mm (35mm eq) is wide enough for me with anamorphic.

      @@bemboing4338 you’re welcome man. I tested it with my LUMIX 10-25mm f1.7 and there it was very obvious that the way the lens is built depends on how much vignette/ adapter was in the frame. So with this lens even at 25mm there was a major vignette!
