After 15 fun-filled days, my husband returns home to catch us up on all the excitement. I share the highlights of my friends' visit, from riding the Royal Gorge train to enjoying backyard barbecues. It's clear their first RV experience was a memorable one!
Now back together as a family, it's time to focus on getting the RV ready for the next leg of our journey. We check tire pressures, torque settings, and ensure everything is in tip-top shape for the road ahead.
Our destination? We're not sure yet! Campgrounds are booked up everywhere, so we're playing it by ear, aiming for somewhere in Ohio, Tennessee, or Pennsylvania.
Join us this week as we navigate the joys and challenges of RV living, embrace the unexpected, and keep our eyes peeled for the perfect campsite. Buckle up, it's going to be another wild ride!

Funny to see you going so “ American”. Big, bigger, Biggest ......... i drove three years trough America in the smallest RV ever made: A Chevy Blazer Chalet Cheyenne. But that was from 1996-1999. Sweet memories of that awesome land

As someone who ran multi dealersips and associated in -house Collision shops, I want to give you heads up with your first beautiful GMC DUALLY.
After so many years of driving conventional cars, a dually is usually catches a lot of people by surprise,. Whether your previous cars were small eco boxes, large sedans, minivans, or even full size American trucks, there is a tendency of forgetting about the Dually fenders. Drive through fast food services, drive through banks, especially fueling stations are worth paying attention to. By habit we know how far to stay away from curbs, fuel pump protection posts.Just because the front end of the truck will fit does not mean the rear of the truck will fit also.
I don't worry too much about your Mobile home because it is not likely that you will be driving it through similar places as you will drive your truck. Most gasoline stations have their canopies high enough for similar towed vehicles, and even semi tractor trailers. Most occasional drivers of RV's, motorhomes, and towed behind mobile homes are usually very careful and aware of what is behind their trucks. Once you unhitch the two, that is when the trouble starts.
I can hnestly say during my 26 years in the business, I am very confident when I say 1 out of every 5 DUALLY trucks we sold came back for fender repairs within the first 6 months.
Just remind yoursellf, your truck is wider in the rear than it is in the front. Don't pull too close to the fuel pums worried the fuel line may not reach. What happens is after fueling most of us do what we always do. Close our doors and drive forward without giving much thought to the rear of our vehicles. Can't do that with a dually. Parking in a shopping mall etc. is also troublesome. Even if you park within the lines, by the time you return and find another car parked on your left and one on your right, you could have a problem getting out of there especially if you have to make a sharp turn to get out.
I hope you don't take offense to my warnings. It is not meant to question your skills, but to remind you what you may or may not have thought.
If you want proof, as you drive around look at the Dually Chevrolets, Dodge's, Ford's, and GMC's on the road and see if you will see a disproportinate number of them with rear fender damage.

of all the sailing channels I follow since covid lock down 6 are rebuilding / or building boats 5 have gone on to have children, and 3 have moved on to vans /rvs for housing while working on projects, and 2 have move to farming. Jamie don't worry about the pop outs they rarely break down had tons of trailers with them on film projects , blocked toilets and ripped off AC units on low bridges are more of a problem. Really nice truck and trailer guys! Had a 3 horse slant for about 10 years back in the early 2,000's when gas was about the same price. Really enjoyed it, and did not need my house. Spent a lot of time in it outside of Phoenix, Flagstaff, New Mexico and the rest of the SW. Beautiful desert country. :)

Just an FYI you're in Arizona so they do have scorpions I live in Glendale Arizona and I can give you a tip one how to get rid of scorpions. Buy yourself some diatomaceous earth preferably the food grade not the stuff that they put in swimming pools and put that down around the perimeter on the outside of your RV they can slide through anything that is as thin as a credit card so if you have problems with scorpions the DE ( dimacious Earth ) Will take care of them. When they walk through it it actually cuts their skin and it dehydrates them. It's good for a large variety of different insects actually

He also needs a uv light for spotting them. I live in the Mojave Desert area of California and my buddy just bought a house near me and I was helping him move in. I had to use the bathroom so I used the half bath off of the kitchen and I was sitting on the toilet when a scorpion dropped into my lap sitting on the toilet. The scorpion came out of the bathroom exhaust fan.

The wax will do a little bit of UV protection, but as important is holding the dirt, which has a negative charge to it, off. ...you are going to need something to cut that wax, once you come back, but they make stuff/solvents for that.

Good choice in the truck and the 5th wheel instead of bumper pull. I would of chosen the same truck and use a gooseneck to tow that 5th wheel. Much better than bumper pull and you don't have to worry about sway nor weight distribution.

I'll bet your could fit a gyroplane in the back....

Nice RV. I worry that your wax you applied might be much harder to remove after it sits for weeks on the gelcoat. I wax a vehicle many years ago and left the wax on too long and it was a pain to get off. Hopefully you'll have a better experience with your wax job.

What type of aircraft are you flying? In all the episodes I have watched I haven't really seen you talk much about flying. I doubt I am the only viewer who is a pilot and aviation enthusiast. 15 years ago I flew from California to Australia solo in a Merlin IIIB island hopping my way to Australia.
