hey girl! So I love the idea of this, but Cindy really does it better. She has some cooking videos on her seeing blind channel. I love cooking, but I'm not the best at it. Lol. One of these days though, I'm hoping to get a couple blind cooks on a live stream to give some tips!
I didn’t know that about the salt changing the texture of the eggs. Cool. For Fried eggs, I use a pan called… The perfect pancake maker. My visual rehabilitation instructor got it for me. I’ll look around for a link.
These were some great tips! I always crack my egg into a separate bowl and I want to try putting the salt in a jar like you did because that’s really something I think would help me. XX Chelsey
That's very sweet! Thanks so much and I'll be posting more things here and there about cooking. The problem is that I want to do so many videos on so many things! Lol. Thanks for your kind words!
Live Accessible yes I time it. On medium heat for about 2 minutes, flip and reduce heat and cook another 2 minutes. I have gas stovetop so you might vary the time
I’ve been allergic to eggs all my life, but have wanted to find out if I’ve outgrown that allergy. I’m completely blind with the exception of light perception which has been fading over the years, and really want to try frying an egg sometime; I think I’d like it more crispy than runny, though. Any tips on how to get it there?
Hi Shane! in all honesty, it takes a lot of practice, even for those who are sighted. I personally get into it and put the seasoning in my hand and into the food so I can feel how much I am putting in and try to learn how it tastes with the amount I put in. You can also use measuring spoons, but I personally like just feeling it. lol. But seriously, even my sighted family members can have a tough time with this. It's more to do with the art of cooking than not being able to see it. A lot of trial an error, but it will definitely get easier over time! I hope this helps a little and just have fun with cooking!
As funny as it sounds I was in the process of eating my eggs when your video came up. I eat eggs every morning it's one of the only things I'm really good at cooking at. LOL I usually make scrambled eggs but I like eggs sunny-side up and very runny as well. When I use salt or pepper I use a grinder for both as I know how many turns usually and I just go with that. I love to see the you know how to properly crack an egg as a visually impaired person. You must have watched Sam LOL I like cooking eggs for my family and I as is very forgivable. They really can't overcook it and I like eggs a little bit on the soft side anyway. You have a lot of leeway when it comes to cooking eggs. When cooking my eggs I use the same method as you. Everything is done in a bowl this way I don't make a mess and I can get my milk salt pepper onions tomatoes everything in without spilling it all over the counter or the floor where my dog comes running over to the rescue. And your son looks like he's so ready for those eggs in the video. I hope he enjoy every bite.
Hi Vencent! Haha. I like scrambled eggs, but fried eggs are much faster around here because of all the cutting of tomatoes and beating, and everything and when you have a hungry toddler, you know you're working on speed! And right now he is in love with fried eggs. Not sure why. He hated them at first. I like the grinder idea, but the problem is that they have different grinding sizes. I have a grinder, too, but I change that setting all the time depending on what i'm cooking. So I prefer to just pinch some salt out for the daily. :D But hey, it is a good idea! Also, when I"m in a pinch or at a restaurant, I just put the salt from the salt shaker in my hand to measure it better. When you say I know how to crack an egg... is there a wrong way to crack an egg? Sam from the Blind Life has a video on it? I didn't even know! :D
@@LiveAccessible yes there is a wrong way to crack an egg and Sam pointed it out in a video. You need to look it up. I have a blind moment confession I was showing my wife your video and we had realized that you did crack the egg wrong. I thought you cracked it on the counter but no you cracked it on the edge of the bowl. Sam showed if you crack the egg on the edge of something it pushes pieces of the cracked Shell through the membrane and into the oak. But if you crack the side of the egg against the countertop or the side of your sink it cracks the egg believes the membrane intact. So when you separate the two pieces The Cracked Egg pieces stay attached to the membrane. It works 99.9% of the time. My mind was blown when I found this out and tested it. In fact, I showed this to my 14 year old son and now he always wants to cook eggs. LOL his mind was blown as well. My wife was a head chef of a restaurant for a decade and my son even showed her how to properly crack an egg and my wife's mind was blown as well. LOL so get it right Carrie! One more thing, my son and I are going to start filming some videos and I'm going to try to come up with a name for a channel. Both my wife and kids think it's a good idea that I do my own channel As I Am RUclips obsessed and I just talked way too much and never shut up. LOL they think this is good for me so I'm going to try it. I will keep you posted when you make sure you watch And subscribe. Okay you and your family have a great weekend and go do some fun things as a family. Till your next video.
Hmmmm.... I don't know about that, I'll have to watch the video, but I objected very strongly to cracking it on the edge of the countertop. That's just going to make a big mess. The sink, maybe, but that's too much effort. LOL I'll just keep cracking it on the bowl for now. Haha. A fork works great too
Hey Vincent, By the way, if you're interested, I just started a facebook group for blind and visually impaired youtubers or those who want to get started on youtube. Here's a link if you're interested! I hope it becomes a place where people can ask questions and get advice and just recieve support. facebook.com/groups/blindyoutubers
hi there! Thanks so much for watching and so sorry that this reply is so late!!! You could periodically just touch the water with a spoon or other cooking utensil. By the sound and the resistance, you can tell where the water is. Also, I usually put a bit more water so that doesn't happen. 😊

Wiw amazing and so helpful Especially because i have an eye disease called: retinitis pigmentosa. ! i just want to say tnat Jesus loves you. He also died for gour sins on the cross and ressurected on the 3rd day. He is the Son of God and the only way to God. He wants all of us to turn away from our sins and trust and follow Jesus Christ. He does not want any of us to perush. He loves you and choosing God is the best thing to do in our lives. May God bless you all that are reading this, in the name of Jesus Christ!❤️❤️❤️
Hi there! Thank you so much for watching and for your comment. You are so sweet and God bless you. One day, we will meet in heaven and I'll give you a hug, for now, here's a virtual one! 🤗
Exactly how long should I cook the eggs in order to make it runny and soft or cooked through? If it takes almost no time to cook fried eggs, then why not record in real-time to give us a rough idea on the time it takes? Sorry, I had to dislike this video. I am absolutely blind. My RUclips channel is my name here.
Hi there! Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry for such a late reply! it's okay! It really depends on your stove and your pan. It can take from about a minute to 2 minutes. And it really depends on the exact temperature that you put. I put mine on medium high on an induction stove in a non-stick circulon pan that's about 6 in in diameter. It takes my eggs around one and a half minutes. It's okay! I can understand that it can be frustrating, but a lot of it is also just experience. I hope that helps! Best wishes!

Thank you so much I think I'll try one day
Good suggestion with the salt. It’s tough for me to know how much I’m using so yeah I’ll have to try this method out instead.
Yes! Try it. Let me know how it goes for you. Do you do a lot of cooking?
Carrie, I love this video. Can you make some future videos like this again. This is so good for beginner VI/blind cooks. thank you for sharing.

I have this book called kitchen companion by some really good cook or something, and she says that in the book. Better safe than sorry I guess. LOL

This is awesome! Thank you Carrie! Helpful hints like this are always appreciated :-) great work with the videos!
Thanks Matt! Quick opinion question - you don't think my music is too loud, is it? Please be honest. :D
Hi Carrie, it's Mel. Love, love, LOVE this video! And your channel! Thank you for inviting us into your kitchen for breakfast. :)

Great suggestions. I like eggs over medium
Thanks! I have trouble getting it just to medium. Do you time yours or how do you do that?

I do tend to over salt things, but it is sort of the joke in my house now. You know, "Guess dad salted this!" lol...Good tips!
Thanks Derek! Appreciate it! Haha. You're just like Pablo! He always says that his sodium is low so he needs all that salt. 😓😭
What I have a lot of trouble with his seasoning. Do you have a tip for putting enough seasoning on your food without overdoing it?

I love that yolk right in the middle, between runny and hard. Igt tastes yummy that way.
Great for breakfast! :) That's how my son likes it. :D
Hi Great video I'll use this tip with the bowl and I don't use salt in anything .
Thanks Tonie! Yes, the bowl thing does really reduce clean up on counters and stove for me. :)
Great video
Thanks!! 😁
