Diya or deepak is an oil lamp used in India and Nepal, usually made from clay, with a cotton wick dipped in ghee or vegetable oils.
diyas are often used temporarily as lighting for special occasions
Diyas are native to India often used in many religious festivals
A diya placed in temples and used to bless worshippers is referred to as an aarti.

My uncle used to make Diyas like this when I was young I sat beside him and see how he is making Diya matka Sakora kulhad Gullak it was so satisfying to watch him but after that plastic item comes in vogue everywhere in India and he stopped making mud items and started labour work on daily basis recently he passed away.
