Yes, a 240mm will cool a 7800x3D just fine, but you can run a 360mm at a slower fan speed to get the same temp, and thus have a quieter cooler.
Came here to say this. He should include fan RPM data.
Until the water heats up and then it's the same, Gamers Nexus covered and proved this. It just takes longer for the water to become heat saturated, and then it will basically be the same!
@@morgan3625 more fans means each fans runs at a lower rpm so it would be quieter
My headphones disagreed.
It really matters more what speed your pump is running at not the fans, as long as the water is staying cool the fans dont even need to run
Nice. 240 MM AIOs are perfectly OK if you are not doing any heavy overclocking.
I agree!
I was running a 240mm on my 5900x with 0 issues so i definitely agree here. I only went 360MM to fill case space 🤣
@@Dr_Angry And now it’s too big haha 😂
@@ErockOnTech omg 🤣
@@Dr_Angry lol
Should add fan speed and pump speed next to those stats
I perfer my 280 mm AiO. Great cooling, and the larger fans push more air while staying quieter.
it will only show differences after hours of gaming and adding heat to the loop. On a cold loop they will perform identical.
FACTS
aio have barely any liquid so no need to wait for a long to see the difference
It takes just a couple minutes to fully heat up
Folding at Home...
Hours? You mean minutes.
it's only worth upgrading to get cpu temperature headroom when rendering/during cpu intensive tasks. when gaming you can get away with decent air cooler
Yeah the 7800X3D won’t get that much benefits even with the thicker IHS of AM5 and the vcache holding back it’s temps, it already draws not that much power, it’s such an easy CPU to cool. But there’s a lot of budget 360mm AIOs out there and if it makes your case look better, why not
Dafuq, your cpu usage is only 21%
yeah and 100% use of GPU
it's like 2° per 120mm.
I'm running 2x240mm with an 12700k with a 3090 with 750 psu. 60° max for everything on gaming.
With 2x360 got same temp like 1/2° difference.
But if you go with 1x240 with cpu and CGU it's going realy hot
need a 360 to put on max fan speed to maintain a 5.4ghz OC on my I7-8700K lmao
It ain't a real AIO test unless you're playing warzone 2 or battlefield 2042 or xDefiant uncapped fps. And show the Coolant temp for each. Gotta put the cpu in the worst case scenario.
I have a solution for any other crackhead pc builders out there.
A 240mm rad is more than enough for ANY cpu, but the trick is to find fans with insane airflow. I have 2 Wathai 12038 fans that are fairly thick and spin at up to 5300rpm if you so choose to set them to maximum, but their shape means you can run them at VERY low rpm and have your curve just aggressively climb at temperatures that effect your boost bins. Thing to note though, they draw too much power to use a splitter for easier cable management.
My computer sounds like an F1 car when I wake it from sleep and it's hilarious. I love it. Only use these fans if you're allergic to seeing your temperatures go up and you don't care how much noise your computer makes to rid itself of any semblance of warmth. With a PUSH-pull config on my system (the Wathai's pushing and regular fans pulling to help) my cpu temps rarely break into the 50's for ANY reason. Computer go brr, but it idles at about 27C or 81F :)))
I've connected an air horn to the temperature controller of my cpu, if it reaches 65°C a 5 second horn can be barely heard at 125dB notifying me it's time to start my Stihl Motor Blower for additional cooling. Its absurd, I love it.
@@HappyH4x0ryou’ve got a make a video showcasing that man lol sounds awesome
I will still use a 360 because it gives me one extra Fan that can push additional air through the case. Also what I think is, that the 360 only starts to perform better when you actually put load on your CPU. Caus 20% Load wont make the CPU as Hot as using 100% and Overclocking it.
Yep thisbis the right answer. Get the AIO that fits your case. Most midtower a take a 360 so get a 360 because it fills it out and you have that airflow. 240 are made for ITX and small cases
Depends on what the CPU is being asked to do. Were these tests run at 1080p which pushes more to the CPU L? Fro. The FPS it didn’t seem like it
What is the pump frequency of each?
Iv went Air Cooling for my CPU. It’s been soo nice not worrying about water leaking on my gpu. Some also say you only get 2 - 3 years out of an AIO, but I didn’t keep mine that long.
there is no reason to worry about leaking, it almost never happends. Case looks much more cleaner without huge air cooler, plus with demanding tasks you will achieve much better temperatures with AIO... Idle should probably be around the same.
Ive had mine in for 8 years! May not cool quite as well as it did new, but still does a damn good job with no maintenance ever having been done
the water in the aio wouldnt destroy any parts
A good aio lasts way longer than 2-3 years
I sometimes regret going AIO because of pump noise. I created a power saver plan im Windows 11 that disables turbo boost on my 14900k so I can the fans at 500 rpm locked and pump at minimum speed while doing idle tasks like RUclips.
How to get the readings the temp and other things is it an app??? can someone tell me please
MSI Afterburner.
What is better cooler the one you use or deepcool ls720 ??
Tbh 360mm looks bette4 anyway
It does look better.
The look of a long radiator with three fans is hard to beat.
do i need AIO to cooling i7 14700f? i don't need overclocking i just used my pc 14hours a day..
What’s a good 240mm aio🤔
Can u guys tell me good 240mm for 7800x3d my current aio has not good cooling
I could've gone 360mm but my smallish case only supports up to 280mm. But still, I went with galahad 2 trinity 240. Comparing it to my old aircooler scythe mugen 5 revb heatsink replaced with 2x high rpm ml120s, the 240 aio performs slightly better around 2°c cooler. Ain't that much of the difference 😂
same..i slapped 2 Noctua NF-F12 industria on the Mugen heatsink...ies Crayzi..works like a charm
7800x3d runs cold and actually could be cooled by regular air coolers. I think R9 and i7-i9 esp in cpu intensive tasks rather than gaming.
You should have used a 13900k and see the power of 360mm aio 😌😌
But if you look at the cpu usage , the usage is higher and temps are higher so its wrong to assume the 360 is better . Try with same usage and it will be the same result .
My case can fit a 360mm, but I went with a 240mm to balance airflow. I have 3 120mm input fans, so I figured the 240mm AIO and a 120mm exhaust would be perfect. Should have I included my power supply's fan in the equation? Using a 13700k with a contact frame.
depends on where PSU exhaust is. Typically, the exhaust is so faint that the excess heat dissipates quickly along the backside of the chassis, making it practically irrelevant for the front components.
Fan speed ?
We got the same Aio 🙏🏽🎉
bro its not worth it u just paid 200$ for more 5c
I did it for science. Someone has to do the testing.
Get a 480mm cooler
They perform well. But they are too big for mid size cases.
a fan upgrade would’ve made the same difference
I will always stick with cpus that sip power. So luckily i dont have to shell out extra cash for cooling
I had 240mm and switched to 360mm not much improvment 1%, so if you dont have i9 its waste of money , its more important how quick the cooler can transfer heat .......i am curious if there is any major difference between 360 and 420mm because i want to buy 420mm for my next cpu upgrade so its verry important because it fit only in big enclosures
For gaming and non taxing tasks, a 240mm aio should be more than enough.
I agree!
I've had a 120 aio on a 130w processor for years and is only 10 deg hotter than what you advertise. Any aio should be fine up to the 150w range
Which use aio 240mm
I have a i7 14700k and a 240mm aio im getting temps up to 100c ive re set the heatsink twice i dont knwo what to do
Normal for intel, you could limit the temp in bios
Test it with an 12900K or 13900K
Liquid temp?
I had to swap, the OCs were just too much. You COULD do a push/pull but at the point of buying the extra fans... You could have just paid for the 360mm like the Arctic or DeepCool
Bro straight up looks like Cal Kestis's lost brother
Yes we get it AIO 😂😂
lol 😂 right haha
240 or 360 all the same temperature !
If i ever bought a aio, iam swapping fans, and lapping ( has to have copper block) umm sure a delid maybe not totally needed
something not right.. besides I have the wrong 360 AIO.. My 7700x aida64 stresses at 95c with the cooler only 39c! I'd like to see 50c on the cooler and say 60c on the cpu. oh the AIO be the h150i! says it all
To my knowlage thats cause thermal paste is bottlenecking.. Id rather compare high end termal paste vs liquid metal i personally wanna swap to it and wanna see comparison ..also my favorite fact is that its el conductive that means grownding hitsink wil improve grounding overclocking.
I have a question. So if I'm going to upgrade my pc from the 5800x to 7950x3d , i can still use my 240 aio with no issues or i have to upgrade to 360?
Yea
I think for the 7950x3d it’s better to get 360
I have the same aio than you the 360 élite capelix xt from corsair but mine are doing a Little noise and idk if its normal or not its my first AIO
I traded in my Corsair AIO for a Galahad 2 LCD 360 mm since it has an Asetek pump and you can control the speed. Corsair really dropped the ball with their latest AIO system because it has a locked 2400 rpm minimum pump speed.
360 just for the looks
So 240 will do the job just fine thx
y'all fellas be running 360 AIOs n such with stock clocks lol
360's are just way quieter
Next time show waterpump and fan rpm
Ofc if your CPU can't saturate 240 there's no difference
Ofc.
1. Did both this AIO have same cold plate?
2. Did you warmup for 30min the AIO so it can suck heat and stabilize.
4. What was The pump speed(if in both AIO was exacly the same pump) and Fans RPM again if were the same in both AIO
5. If only one of this points up there is wrong the test was made in wrong way and inconclusive

Yes. But you may need to enable a curve optimizer offset and possibly eco mode.
I haven't finished yet on my build. Lian Li Dynamic Mini can't fit a 360 rad on top. I have 14700kf on hand. Can I use this AIO? I don't play a lot but I do a lot of workload

I just wanted to read the comments to see if anyone said the obvious. WTF does the temps of an 240 vs. 360 AIO got to do with game temps? Game temps are gpu load my dude..Lmao.
Not at 1080p “my dude.” Why do you think all CPU benchmarks are done at 1080p? Because at 1080p you’re not GPU bound. Also, you miss the point. Obviously, hotter CPUs under full load need a 360. But gamers aren’t playing cinebench. They are playing games. And in games, you can save your money and get a 240 over a 360. But hey you know best right? Go spend the money. 😎

These people just seem like absolute a.i Kevin hearts fake ass laugh.
It's not just about overclocking. Temp difference would be far more noticeable in something like cinebench or aida64 which would actually beat up the CPU to it's threshold obviously if you're strictly looking at general work loads it won't be that different.
If ur cpu temp didn’t reach 70c. U don’t have to buy a new cooler😛
as long as you're not experiencing thermal throttling, even if it reaches 90, it's a okay

I have a full video on this subject that goes into greater detail. 3. Sure, we can run cinebench and see the full load. But honestly who cares? No one is buying these components and heading home to play cinebench simulator all day. Gamers are playing games. So the tests are indicative for gamers.
