@@jungschiffer8423 If coriander tastes like soap to you, you usually have a recessive gene (from both your parents) that causes your body to think it's a poison, making it taste bitter so you spit it out.

Coriander comes from cilantro and I know that some people don't even like them to where they think it tastes like soap, due to a genetic variation in their olfactory senses. It's quite understandable from a scientific point and it just can't be helped. The best thing to do to understand others who hold coriander and cilantro with great disdain is to try and empathize with them. So if you see a complete lack of cilantro or coriander on a person's plate at any meal, that could very likely be the reason and you can only respect that person's preferences. Just because YOU like it doesn't mean that everyone else will. As such, Jiaoqiu very likely has that genetic thing where cilantro and coriander just taste like bitter soap. Jing Yuan can still add it, but it has to be on his own platter and not in the communal hot pot.
@@silverriver350 some of my friends absolutely detest coriander/cilantro but I don’t get the hate😔. I get the soapy taste but I feel like a lotta people exaggerate the feeling cause I like the bitterness
I guess for some people, the taste is rather strong and such people see that there's no other way around it but to be blunt to express their disdain for it. Maybe they think that doing so will greatly discourage everyone present on how much they hate it. I can relate, because I just hate durian and jackfruit because they reek too much of a person's behind, to where I can't even stand the smell! I'd rather partake in what Boothill likes to drink in his down time, which is basically peat whiskey, and I heard that it's incredibly strong to where it separates the boys from the men.
Yup, I have to ask at restaurants if there is any coriander in there. If there is I can't eat it. It tastes like somebody took a soap bar, shaved it and used it as a cooking ingredient. It makes me gag. In one case I took one big bite of a meal that had a lot in it (I was completely unaware what coriander even was and my reaction to it, it also wasn't in the menu description, it isn't really used in our cuisine and back then it wasn't a wildly known issue) and I puked all over the floor. The restaurant was not happy, I was not happy, no one was happy. I was young, embarrassed but I learned from my mistake.
For me it doesn't taste like soap. I just don't like how bitter it is 😖🚫

I live in thai , almost every noodle store will put finely chop cloriender in the soup IF you don t tell them in advance (some still does it by mistake of repeating) and it is impossible to take them out since it s finely chop, cause even if you can somehow physically take every piece out , the soup will have already mix with greenly cloruender scent , destroying the soup !!!!
The pure hate this man has for coriander😭💀
