I love that you always give options on how to make our own supplies instead of having to go out and buy special name brands that cost a lot more. I actually tried this recently with spackling paste. It worked but I used way too much of it. Thanks for the tips!
PLEASE do not take this as a crazy person’s post…but, if I were a man I would be in love with you! You are THE most amazing instructor on RUclips. You inspire, entertain, encourage (yes that’s different than inspire), and instruct at 100 % perfection level. Now after all that I say a humble thank you and God bless your willingness to spend so much time, energy and honesty on all us subbies. Blessings from Betty in Ohio.
"Experimentation leads to revelation"... precisely! Especially in this field of crafting. You, Natasha, have the profound ability to excite one to run to their craft room and start experimenting... and crafting!! ❤
You've just changed the game on textured paint. I'm so glad you'e shared how to changed the colour. I'd never have thought of that so now you've opened up so many more possibilities. Thank you Natasha x
You can also separate the amount of paste you’re going to use onto some plastic (I use packaging or ziplock bag) then mix in whatever color I want for a uniform look
I’ve never been attracted to making journals. I just don’t get why anyone would spend so much time on making one…then what? You all seem to enjoy making them then they sit around, stacked up in a pile. I’m here to learn how to make the texture pastes and how to apply them. That said, I applaud you for putting so much time into creating them. I enjoy watching ‘Treasure Books’ vides as she has suck a pleasant voice, because she gets right down to teaching us, because she is filled with tips and finally, because she has no annoying music playing that often makes it hard for me to hear what is being said. I also find music distracting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & experience with all of us. 👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰
Ohhh can’t wait to try some of these fantastic ideas!!! You make everything so simple and achievable from making the supplies with safe home products to lots of great ideas on how to use them in my treasured journals! Thanks so much for sharing!
Hello everyone my name is Anna, I'm from New Mexico. I am also a newbie watching your tutorials for 4 days in a row now. I ❤❤❤ love everything you have done in your tutorials you are an amazing lady ❤❤ # replay. These fails as you mentioned, to me are personality, added to your beautiful crafts❤❤❤ !!! YOU ARE BRILLIANT NATASHA ❤❤ !!!!
I love how you always come up with something new and are not afraid to experiment. These days too many RUclips crafters are just doing what everyone else is doing with little imagination or thought being put in the process. I am always learning something fresh and exciting with your videos. Love it!
Natasa, do you have any idea about how many journals you've made so far? It seems like you might have a whole shelf only for finished projects. That'd be so cool! Thanks for sharing new ideas with us!
I Love your projects! But it is YOU! Your art - your choices. I watch several artists. Some of their choices are not me, but I watch them for the knowledge I get from the artist. I continue to watch their tutorials because I learn so much. You are so funny, but really - equal treatment for all species. You keep showcasing your art!!!!
Your creativity is SO inspiring! You are an amazing teacher! I love how you share your mental process & self reflections! It's helpful & relatable. I've always wanted to learn how to make texture/ modeling paste. Isn't it amazing that the ingredients are often in our houses already!? Thanks for being a ray of sunshine today🤗🌞
I love this Natasha. Thank you. I love the way you always explain clearly and encourage experimentation as well as giving alternatives to the processes you use. You inspire creativity. 🙏🏽🦋🥰
Hi Natasha, I am so excited 🥳 I received my beautiful book "Treasure Scrapbooking " and I absolutely love it. ❤ Thank you so much for sharing your creative knowledge with us. Your amazing. Sharon Harper
You can lay your stencil back down once it’s dry and go over it with gilding it adhesive and then add gilding sheets and whatever color choice is yours or if you lay your stencil back down, you can go over it with much easier than trying to paint freehand, but you have to wait till the modeling paste is dry Texture paste whichever you’re using
This tutorial was an eye opener for me. I am just getting into mixed media but was almost paralyzed by the different kinds of mediums. I learned so much from watching you about using stuff I have on hand, experimenting and having fun. I would have never thought to just use paint to color the white texture paint over the stencil. Thank you, thank you!
Excellent tutorial with so much helpful content-----more than enough to watch again & again to remember it all. Thank you so much for all the details. You are my favorite artist because you are detail orientated and because you show us so many ways to use the creations. Also you share the precautions. You're wonderful.
Natasha. Wow. I am an experienced crafter but you videos are so addictive. I collect junk and now I have found how to use them. I never throw anything. You have inspired me to add value to my junk. Thank you. Lots of love vina. If you ever I. London please let us all know and will be very happy to host you. Xxx❤
Never tried too much stenciling but the way you explain and create with it, it makes me want to make it up and use the stencils I have just waiting in a drawer! Thanks!👍❤️
Beautiful projects I love all of them but I have to say the journals with lace pockets or strips on the top and bottom are my favorite and absolutely gorgeous! The alcohol ink backgrounds is my second. I’m so glad you found a way to make the paste I was around when you made your cheese cloth journal and I loved that one as well, so thank you for always sharing your inspiration it has become my passion thank you!❤
I appreciate how resourceful you are and that you really encourage experimenting. I love upcycling and reusing what might otherwise be tossed; your videos always give me good ideas!
I did an altered book cover with that first batch but added fine glitter first…came out beautifully! I love just feeling it and tapping my nails on it! 💖🤣🤣🥰🥰 Thank you again! I’m completely addicted ❤
Wow!! All the effects!! Just amazing!! There are no failures! Trials, yes. And really interesting results!! Thanks for mentioning the mask or subbing Cornstarch for the talc. After all the scary stuff found about talc in the 70s, I never even brought that stuff into the house. Always used cornstarch for our babies, or myself. Cornstarch is definitely the way to go. I wondered also about powdered clay, then you mentioned it! This all looks like fun!
What an amazingly informative video.I have been painstakingly hand painting my stencils for ages had no idea they could be painted over like you demonstrated. All your work is so beautiful and I love that you share alternatives for different products/.Thank you for your time and the details that you explain during your tutorials, not assuming everyone is familiar with different techniques or products. In my opinion you are the Queen of Junk Journals, which also my opinion is a misnomer..they are definitely not junk! Love from Perth WA
Natasha, thank you for all of the great ideas. I am beating my head against the wall for not thinking of just painting over the white texture paste. Thanks again. Have a super fantastic weekend. Sending big hugs Sherry ❤
I adore this. All of this. I never though to spread the paint over before removing... genius! And you mentioned using Sharpies on the paste... that makes me want to play with a few detailed stencils, and then color with my markers! Textured coloring pages..... so many ideas. Thank you, thank you.
I have been overly cautious to try any type of this technic. Not anymore, thanks to your step-by-step teachings + also added alternatives. I always look forward to Treasure Book days & you! Thank you! 😊
Natasha, hi sweetie 🥰. I love everything you've done here, and I think the imperfections make things look hand made, which I really like. I didn't know how to color texture paste - I would've put paint into the actual paste but your way is much easier (I also really like the imperfections in the color) - so thank you for that! Lovely to see you and I hope your weekend is marvelous! Hugs, MK 🤗♥️🌵❤️🤗
@@emmkaa2099 I actually liked all the "fails" too. Or the experimental results. But, in the creator's eyes, it's about something that matches their original vision of it all. If it doesn't feel satisfactory, or pleasing, then to them it isn't. However, I think everything Natasha does is lovely, interesting or inspirational, so that's my perception bias lol.
excellent video. Never in a million years would I have thought of painting over the texture paste to get different colors. Thank you very much for sharing 😍😍😍
Your creativity and style is wonderful, literally I am full of wonder. Your incredible creativity and willingness to share fills me with respect and gratitude.
Such BEAUTY ! What a pleasure to spend these moments with you and your lovely explosions of craftiness, cleverness, and kindness. Gosh, Natasha you are a balm for my soul. I love the expanse of infinite possibilities you share. The colors sounds and textures divine. Thank you.
Natasa!!!! I LOOOOOVVVVEEE IT ALL!!! ❤ I am so happy you decided to change your “fails” into experiments, because without experimenting we cannot expect to achieve instant masterpieces. I have had to learn this and be patient with myself. No art is a fail! All of it is a Process, and the very process is beautiful ❤. Thank you again for another drool worthy tutorial with such incredible results! And with simple items I actually have. I can’t wait to give it a go!
Thank you! I am so inspired. I also realize I need to just creat and have items prepared ahead of time without a distinct or defendant plan for what project I am going to use it for. At times my projects take SO LONG because I’m creating all the components specific for that project. My rainy days (when I can’t be in the garden or out with the horses) will now have days of creating for future projects. I’d like to go right to the studio to get started but I do require sleep so it will wait a few days. Thanks again.
Hi Natasha, Thank you so much for this tutorial ❤I’m so excited to try this😊 I am addicted to your channel 😍 I love all you share ❤️ A day without Natasha is like a day without sunshine🌞 ❤️ Hugs. Maggie ❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️
I am *ABSOLUTELY* *IN-LOVE* with those Black Journal Covers!!! I soooo widh We didn't live in different Countries because I'd be HONORED to have that Black & Gold Cover!!!!
Once again you hit it out of the ball park! So many great ideas and options! Thank you for all the tips and tricks. Your books are absolutely stunning! It's fun getting a little peak behind the scenes. Thank you Natasha!
Morning!! So happy to catch you in time. Love absolutely everything you do and anxious to get started with new ideas. Got my coffee and raring to go. Just missed a tornado that ripped through here last night, nice to sit with you on this glorious Saturday.
Thank you for this tutorial! You saved me plenty of money! I have all these ingredients at home and I will try it to use in my junk journal pages! Lovely
Thank you so much for sharing, especially with adding the paint on top. I, too, have been experimenting with texture paste & it didn't occur to me to add color directly on top during the initial process. Brilliant!👏 I always prefer the more grungy imperfect outcomes, so your "fail" pile would be my "YES, that's what I need" pile 😅
What great ideas using household items to make the paste. Gonna try that for sure. Gorgeous results both white and colored. Thank you for your wonderful directions that are so easy to follow. Everything your fingers touch always turn out beautifully even things you consider to be a fail. God Bless You for all the lives you have forever changed with your artistic talents.
thank you for this video. good examples. 👏👏and… it's exactly what you say; the experiment takes you further. to sometimes completely different things. I always call it playing😊😉
Love all that you teach us, and just a suggestion. You can add the texture paste in a glob next to you and mix the the color together with the texture paste. Then apply it, just another way of doing it.
I just finished my first junk journal inspired by your easy stress-free creative style. I could listen to you all day, as I have been for the past few! You are exceedingly talented and lovely; what a amazing combination 🎉
As usual, wonderfully done video! Love how you experiment as you go :) Now you, with your gorgeous nails, won't like this idea 🤣but it is 100% FREE. Your fingers are the MOST wonderful tools of all (ask any child)! I giggled about the "sand" (This glass mosaic artist/sand + goo = grout). Keep up the good work kiddo!! You are a blessing to the world of craft.
Hi Natasa: What beautiful pieces! Your stencils are stunning. I actually like your “fails” and experiments. The 2 white butterflies on the very busy scrapbook paper looks fabulous. I have a small jar of the exact same recipe I made a while back. Time to have some fun! Thank you for the ideas. 💜😎🇺🇸
I saw this recipe after buying Posh Chalk paste! I will still make this recipe though, it's so fun & versatile. Love all the ideas, pros, cons & possible failures!!! Creative juices always flow after watching your tutorials Natasha!!!
Put a dab of paste on your work surface then mix in the color instead of putting it on top of the white. Try adding some glitter or chunky glitter. Thanks for the recipe and tips.
Made a batch with corn starch but it did not turn out well. It was just a dry clump, so I had to basically add double the amount of paint and glue to make it look okay. But I also had baking soda so I tried a batch with that and it turned out SO MUCH better and with the ingredient amounts you mentioned. Of course I had to also try them out. The corn starch one didn't function very well despite how I tried to fix the consistency. It was harder to spread and the result was messy, even with a small and simple stencil. But the baking soda one was nice! It spread nice and even with no bleed and I even used a slightly more complex stencil and it looks lovely. So I might give up on the starch one, or maybe keep it for bigger textured surfaces (like the journal you showed, with the leathery look) and use the better baking soda paste for more detailed work with stencils. I'll have to see how they look completely dry, they're currently still a bit moist because of course I had to do all this while watching the video. In any case thank you for this, I now know what to do with all that baking powder (and maybe starch) just sitting in my cupboard since I rarely bake stuff that requires it.
Love your art Natasha! I like to use texture paste in my work. I like to add glitter and glitter glue to it together with acrylic paint. Your tutorials are brilliant and always looking forward to some inspiration. Thank you for being so generous and sharing with us your brilliant ideas. Best wishes from Cork, Ireland.
Hello Natasha!!! From Texas USA. I’m typing on my phone while I have you on my tv… lol. Yes, I’m that addicted to your videos!!! I enjoy you so much and want you to know that I personally want to thank you for all of the work and inspiration you put in your delightful videos!!! Since finding YT videos a few years back my life is completely different now!!! I found your channel a couple years back and have popped in now n then until recently? Now? I keep your vids going all day, even when I’m not watching, your voice is lovely and I love your candid honesty about things! Why sweat the small stuff, ya know? I have learned soo much from you and can’t wait to get started on some of your ideas. My craft room is in Reno state at the moment. My things are thru the house in boxes stacked in piles from the garage into my bedroom!! 😂 Hopefully it will come together in May. Waiting on storage units to arrive. My husband passed away in December 2020 and it has been such a crazy journey ever since!! He was a hoarder and smoked between 2/3 packs of cigarettes a day!! When I got started in this place… when I removed a wall picture… you could still see where it had been for years!! Ugh!! It took soo much work and product to get a plain clean wall!!! To paint!! Thank goodness for my youngest son who lives close by!! He brought his team in here and ripped down walls ceiling’s and flooring to just make this place clean n safe for me to live here!!! But, before he could do that I had about 2 years of manual, nasty hard work to get rid of everything he had in here!! He had kept everything from our children’s childhood and then grandchildren’s!!! Girl!! My neighbors wanted to know when I’d stop dragging stuff to the curb!!! Phew!! But, thru diligence I finally got it cleared out so he could take over the bigger work. I had to stay here during all of it too!!! Not sure why I’m telling you all this but it’s just something about your most devoted fan/sub… 😘 So, it’s been awhile since I’ve been able to craft for pleasure…. And you’ve inspired me to try my hand at some Journals. Your ideas are exceptional and even seem extravagant but you do such a GREAT job describing and showing how you create your ideas. If I were near you, I’d love to hug you to express how much I admire you! You’re making Shabby Chic toile flowers on tv now… 😍 I had a thought earlier and wanted to share the idea with you. I have managed to accumulate a pile of old cook books that Joe had collected. Many in French or Italian. I held onto them with you in mind. I was thinking my first journal experiment I might use some pages even pictures from those books. Then I thought, maybe you’d like to try that, so here I am passing onto you the idea. I have no idea how it would come together or finish. In all your videos you ask if we have any ideas and such so that’s why I’m sending this message. It also occurred to me that not in a million years could I ever use all of what I have. So I’m wondering if you’d care to share in my bounty? Was thinking I could box up some of these incredibly old pages and send them too you. What my concern is that I’ve seen your peeks of your inventory/craft space and not sure you’d care to receive even more…. It’s kinda neat that my sister does several different crafts and always asks me first what I mite have she could use. Sharing is caring to me which is why I’m asking if you’d be interested. Even if you don’t have the space I do hope you can use the cookbook idea and perhaps make a tutorial video. With high regards and much affection, ~Bobbi~
If you add some alcohol ink to the pretty foil square it would really jazz it up. On the butterflies n the patterns, highlight them by outlining them, or adding color to them.
Oh wow, memories! Your brown journal cover made with cheese cloth, and the three gold flowers - I followed that video to make my first journal cover. I even painted the gold on top. I am still so inspired with every video you make! Thank you so much! 🤗❤️ Tamara

I always prefer the more grungy imperfect outcomes, so your "fail" pile would be my "YES, that's what I need" pile 😅
Thanks so much for the kind words!
Thank you for teaching us! You are so talented! I’m truly impressed.💕
Thank you for all your money saving tips……sweet…..
thank you for this video. good examples. 👏👏and… it's exactly what you say; the experiment takes you further. to sometimes completely different things. I always call it playing😊😉
I love the sounds of the papers.. I use tracing paper and also enjoy the sounds it makes when dcounsel. junkie journal.
Your videos have inspired me to start my first Junk Journal. So many good ideas have sparked my own ideas. Thank you. Your journals are superb.
I'm so glad!
Love all that you teach us, and just a suggestion. You can add the texture paste in a glob next to you and mix the the color together with the texture paste. Then apply it, just another way of doing it.
This opened my eyes to so much experimentation!! Those envelopes are beautiful, a fabulous idea for card making.
I just finished my first junk journal inspired by your easy stress-free creative style. I could listen to you all day, as I have been for the past few! You are exceedingly talented and lovely; what a amazing combination 🎉
You are so freaking amazing. Your creativity knows no bounds. And you're so funny and personable. I'm so glad I found your channel.
Thank you so much!!
I’m always motivated to craft after watching your tutorials. Thank you for all your hard work and for sharing!
I love your adventure of trying anything to see what happens. I love your works of beautiful art and crafts. Lots of Love Light and Laughter!
Brilliant video, so much info and visual delights. Heaps of thanks to you.
Hi Natasa:
What beautiful pieces! Your stencils are stunning. I actually like your “fails” and experiments. The 2 white butterflies on the very busy scrapbook paper looks fabulous. I have a small jar of the exact same recipe I made a while back. Time to have some fun! Thank you for the ideas. 💜😎🇺🇸
Love all of your inspiration and ideass you share. Thank you, Natasha.
You are so talented. Please keep these types of projects coming. I love watching your videos. You think out of the box and give excellent directions.
In any case thank you for this, I now know what to do with all that baking powder (and maybe starch) just sitting in my cupboard since I rarely bake stuff that requires it.
how did it turn out?
Love your art Natasha! I like to use texture paste in my work. I like to add glitter and glitter glue to it together with acrylic paint. Your tutorials are brilliant and always looking forward to some inspiration. Thank you for being so generous and sharing with us your brilliant ideas. Best wishes from Cork, Ireland.
Ps I love how you try new things. I love learning all your tips and ideas.
Thank you so much!
Thankyou, just what I needed to watch.
I just love all your ideas and projects, they are absolutely awesome !
You are SO MUCH FUN to watch!! Great ideas!! Thanks for sharing, you have a great personality, that really adds to the ease of learning new ideas!! ❤
Thank you so much ❤️
Hello Natasha!!!
🤗❤️ Tamara
Oh Im so glad 😍 thank you!!
Sending lots of love to you.💖💖💖💖💖✨✨✨✨✨
I like the ones that you cleaned off the stencil with. The variable texture adds to the interest. Thanks for another wonderful project.
Thank you so much!
I loved this tutorial, it's great!! I learned so much. You're an awesome teacher. Yes, you have inspired me to go experiment with texture paste for the first time. Thank you!! Have a wonderful weekend!!
Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and so many options. This may be my favorite of your videos although I enjoy them all.
Very timely tutorial for adding color. Thank you
