  • Full walk through tour of HMS Victory at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, January 2019.
HMS Victory is the main attraction at the Dockyard but there's plenty of superb other ones included in the 'Full Navy Ticket' which I bought. These include: HMS Warrior (1860), HMS M.33, various naval museums and a harbour boat tour.
It's only a few minutes walk from Portsmouth Harbour train station and easily one of the best attractions I've ever been to.
Feel free to leave any comments or questions below.
    Thanks for watching :)

At the Main Mast, a block of wood with the Plaque "Here Nelson Fell" no the wonder I even tripped over it myself
The Pikes any crew member who had managed to pierce three boarders was automatically put on the ships darts team

Fantastic tour. This has taken me back to when I last visited when I was at school many years ago. Not to keen on the new colors. Much prefer the original yellow ochre. I have built a large 3.5 foot model of Victory, complete with Admiral Nelson & some crew. Took me 4 years to build. Will pay a visit as soon as am able to.

Imagine seeing that beast sail into your port town. Could level it in a few hours. Intimidating.

Hard to believe it was seaworthy especially in heavy seas! It’s so large it looks like it would flounder. 😱

Wow thats a big solid builded ship.
People on board around that time, must have been tough like made out of iron.
Must have been the hell,to fight in Battle of Trafalgar.
    Thanks for the video.

Jochen Hansen It wasn’t as strong as iron. The ship’s wood was replaced so barely any of the old ship is left

So, where are the track marks that should be embedded into the floor from the weight of the guns being pushed in and out? Asking for a friend.

It is too bad about the lens. This really could have been something. Thanks for the effort though.

Beautiful ship. Great lines. But not a true seagoing ship. Couldn’t trust her to cross the pond like Constitution did, and could still do.

Not as well as clinker ships. The entire world was traveled in those.

      Sam Spade.
Not you again. Once again please tell me how, if Victory wasn't a sea going ship, she managed to give the enemy fleet a few weeks advantage, but only missed catching them up by a few hours, after chasing them to the West Indies and back. Not bad for a ship that is not sea going IS IT.

@Simple Jack believe she only made one Atlantic crossing under Nelson. Other than that just stayed within a 2 to 3 day sail from France and Spain. Constitution, numerous sails to the Med. Also sank 2 British frigates. If you closed down Victory’s gift shop probably manned by your mom, I would think of her as a truly commissioned warship.
