They say the BK suits were superior against the Gundams but frankly, in a fair 1v1 fight like what we see here, the odds are actually even. The IJ Type 2 and the Shi-ve.A are practically identical suits with similar stengths. But in this battle, Athrun showed everyone why he's never lost a melee fight in SEED mode
He didn't even need SEED Mode to beat Shura until the very end when he used the head beam Saber which just really speaks to how Strong Athrun is , as a MS pilot compared to anyone else in-universe.
Gotta give credit to cagalli here too. I only just noticed that right before the IJ does the side step, it tosses its beam saber to the other hand so that the right hand is free to grab the railgun and shoot the Shi-ve.A. That's a hell of a move by Cagalli. And if you watched that whole side step motion in slo-mo, it was very detailed! You can see the IJ's backpack wing beam blades deactivate and close up and the thrusters rotate down, and the IJ's combined beam sabers power down to prevent slashing its own wings before reactivating them once the wings were out of the way! Only question is how did the shield disappear and reappear again 😅

Unlike the Strike Freedom with its Super Dragoon system, and the Destiny's Mirage Colloid system, the Justice is a less gimmicky mobile suit. The Freedom and Destiny also have powerful ranged weaponry as well, and that's also not including the Voiture Lumiere system. I argue that the Justice's main energy drain is from the extreme movement usage of it's limbs.
I like how people are overlooking the fact that Arthrun wasn't actually piloting the Unit, which actually allowed him to freely let Shura to mind read him and thus turned the battle to Arthrun's blade. Basically he sat in a drone unit to disorient his opponent enough to finish the fight.

He’s piloting at the beginning and end of the clip, the portion he isn’t piloting is when the Justice uses the rail gun on it’s back. Everything else is Athrun.
Shura is so sure of his inherent superiority, but notice how Athrun went toe to toe with him without even needing to be in SEED mode until the very end of the fight. Dude had no idea just how out of his league he always was against Athrun.

said this before, the freedom design is all about firepower, the justice is all about close range, the destiny is the mid range suit. and the legend is the crowd control and area of denial. overall, they all combo each other perfectly, maybe even more than most teams designed to fight together. like the wing or the 00 crew.
@@wolfman210 the freedom was designed as a artilhary suit, it CAN defend on close range, but most of its main weapons are mid to long range. the freedom was designed as the long range of the 3, with the justice at the front, and the providence at the mid range. you should remember, the reason the way kira piloted the freedom was not how it was designed to work. he just make use of everything it has, in ways above its intended way. both of his more important weapons, are mid-long range. but kira is able to make use of them, even in close quarters. the destiny on the other hand, was made as gap filler. giving support either close, or from afar. more importantly, it was made as a defender suit to the legend, the same way the justice was for the freedom.
On that note the original freedom appears to mirror the Buster Gundam for long range artillery Justice - Duel (close quarters) Providence - Blitz (special systems) Regenerate - Aegis (three way transformable) Testament - Strike (multi mode)
The action in this movie is so crazy good, I'm pretty hard on a Arthurn but the way the Justice moves is just crazy and shura was basically using an evil version of the destiny
I thought Athrun and Cagalli broke up by the end of Seed Destiny, and that he was now dating Meyrinn Hawke, and I thought that was still the case when I saw him and Meyrinn working together in this movie. Well, this scene clearly proved it wrong, LOL. It's rather a shame the original Cagalli voice actress didn't come back to voice her character in the movie, but it was her choice, with rumors of some Seed Destiny behind-the-scenes drama

And when he uses it he always wins... Up until now he never lost in seed mode even against Kira... In Destiny he only used it 2-3x and it's against Shinn in the Destiny... First time he was already injured when he entered, 2nd was in their final battle where Shinn went out of control and almost attacked Lunamaria so Athrun activated his seed mode to quickly neutralize Shinn without killing him...

Funny how Shura calls Athrun a coward, when he has to resort to underhanded tactics like jumping Kira with others at his side just to win. Talks about honor and how the battlefield is a sacred place while fighting with the latest state of the art technology that no one else can compete with, and also has to resort to psychic powers and mind reading. Unlike the Strike Freedom with its Super Dragoon system, and the Destiny's Mirage Colloid system, the Justice is a less gimmicky mobile suit. The Freedom and Destiny also have powerful ranged weaponry as well, and that's also not including the Voiture Lumiere system. I argue that the Justice's main energy drain is from the extreme movement usage of it's limbs.

I like how people are overlooking the fact that Arthrun wasn't actually piloting the Unit, which actually allowed him to freely let Shura to mind read him and thus turned the battle to Arthrun's blade. Basically he sat in a drone unit to disorient his opponent enough to finish the fight.

the freedom was designed as the long range of the 3, with the justice at the front, and the providence at the mid range.
you should remember, the reason the way kira piloted the freedom was not how it was designed to work. he just make use of everything it has, in ways above its intended way.
both of his more important weapons, are mid-long range. but kira is able to make use of them, even in close quarters.
the destiny on the other hand, was made as gap filler. giving support either close, or from afar. more importantly, it was made as a defender suit to the legend, the same way the justice was for the freedom.
On that note the original freedom appears to mirror the Buster Gundam for long range artillery
