  • Deleting a Chrome profile is very easy and simple to do. The profile also includes preferences, history, bookmarks, and user data, so you might want to back it up before removing it...here's how.

Don't think this works anymore, or perhaps not between different versions of Windows. I've been trying for HOURS. Clean uninstalling Chrome (and Brave for that matter), reinstalling them,, copying the data from my Macrium Reflect backup, and even rebooting afterward. None of my extensions are installed, my history is gone, etc. I've done this a dozen times today!
I think maybe, if you back up a profile within Windows 11, you can't use it for Chrome in Windows 10. Same goes for Brave. It's the only explanation I have. I'm so sick of modern browsers. I tried ones like Vivaldi and I just couldn't work out how to use them like I'm used to.

Indeed this trick is not working and didn't work for me in Windows 10 either. I have about 15 profiles (one per client) and the only way I have found is to connect each with a google account. That is a royal pain, but works flawlessly. Moving the profiles from appdata to appdata does nothing. I even deleted the original profile 1 and 2 I had there, then pasted the profiles from my desktop to my laptop and... nothing. The original profiles are still there untouched, even though the folders were deleted.
I honestly cannot explain it other than to figure than in a later version of Chrome the profiles data has been moved elsewhere. Weird, and it doesn't look like anyone else has noticed either. The web is full of tutorials that no longer work.

First, you CAN delete ANY profile, even in use. IN fact, you can delete the profile even if it is the ONLY one.
Second, HOW TO PREVENT being able to delete a profile? I can prevent CREATING a NEW profile... BUT if you delete the LAST profile, Chrome will ask you to create a NEW profile, even if you have removed the option (via Windows Registry). Help!

In the trash because that's where Google will send it because they can't stand letting users have control over one of their products.
