    I've always loved what the HD660s is. Before buying I had been inti some scrutiny given the aren't like the other 600 series. But i had faith and 1 year lataer still rocking them.
    I've always felt that the soundstage was a bit lacking. Maybe making an adaptor to extended the cup to pad distance to get back that soundstage but may have that "hall sound" which is fine by me cuz i listen to a lot of live albums

    A copper-mod for the 660S would be legendary. I mean they have a spider-ish thing around the backside of the driver...it's just a little bigger and interrupted by a plastic block.

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  2 года назад +1

      We can sell you a headband cable if you have the skills to change it your self or you can send them in. A headband cable would only be £2 ish + postage
      If you send them in it would cost £15 for the cable and fitting + return postage

    I have a tip if u want . I use audioquest sorbothane around the driver an all my HD6 line . I take off the grills and driver and i glue the sorbothane inside after that i place the driver in the clips and close the grills. This material is used to absorb any kinetic energy . I think u should try that .

    Comparing these to the Sennheiser x Drop 58x would be wonderful! Initially, there were some rumors that they use the same drivers but now opinions seem inconclusive...

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  2 года назад +1

      The 58X has a different driver from the HD660 and HD600/650. It looks like the driver from some HD280s but I have not seen it in the flesh. It is unlikely we will get any HD58X in any time soon but if they have a black Friday deal on them I may buy some at Christmas. Unless @Drop want to send me some for testing ;)

    • @oinoi8373
      @oinoi8373 2 года назад +2

      Not sure where those rumors started, maybe it was Zeos but he certainly perpetuated it but it's been disproven as Senneheiser themselves have said "Though the HD 660 S and the HD 58X Jubilee are both dynamic driver designs made from our specially developed plastic, the same impedance ratings, and constructed in the same Ireland factory, they do not share a driver, and are in fact differently produced designs.
      The difference may not be visible to the naked eye, but the drivers do have different performance characteristics are measurable. The impact of the foam we use is acoustically minimal... the rear foam backing is there for aesthetics, and also it improved durability for the driver in drop-tests (since the driver is mounted differently than the HD 660 S and the models that came before it). The foam between the driver and the open back does not both “reinforce bass” (reflect back bass) or “absorb treble” as Zeos Reviews suggests in the above video; Zeos Reviews even noted that the two headphones still sound different to him at the 12 minute mark of the video posted above."

    I have all HD6 line , The good with 660s is that they dont need any mod, They are one of the fastest and better imaging headphone if not the best without using planar .

      @@CustomCans They need longer use thats for sure , even HD 58X share the shame signature and make a lot of people think that they are the shame , but they are not , 58X pcb and driver is close to HD 5 line , and HD660s from what i have seen is close to HD700 evevn the coil wire inside is the shame from what i have seen .

    I got a pair of this 660 and a Sundaras but for me the Senn's lacked a lot of detail on the bass and overall on the whole low end...
    I used them with a zen can signature hfm so maybe they still lacked a bit of amplification? dunno

      @@CustomCans Exactly. Hard to describe, but into my short check - i really prefer the sound from my HD 650. The driver, design, etc. seems similar...but the fact, that the HD 600, HD 650 are already legends, and still being produced, subtle updated...speaks for itself. And ppl saying the HD 650 sounds dark, or veiled...never heard it onto a decent Headphone Amp. It sounds way nice.

  • @marcp.1752
    @marcp.1752 2 года назад +2

    The HD 650 is wonderful, if you have a matching Amp. It never sounds "dark", and never "veiled", just perfect for what it is - never get ear fatique with it, i own it since 2013. There's a subtle different 2019 version, because the toolset to create them was worn out, and Sennheiser needed to create a new one, for producing HD 650's furtherway. Optically, it's a very subtle facelift, and the cool square wooden box is gone nowadays, since the 2019 release.
