Thanks for the video. Porsche really needs a software update that allows for full screen or far more flexibility in the right side area. On a side note, how did you get the white tach? In my Macan, to get the white dials (which I did) the tach, speedometer and Sports Chrono all had to be white.
To change the Info Widget square on the right of the CarPlay , swipe UP or DOWN. You can configure what is in the box by configuring the Info Widget--calling it up like you do to configure the Home Screen.
2020 Macan Turbo: When playing music from my iPhone library and go to playlist, artist, albums etc you get your entire library when the car is stationary. However the moment you move, only 12 or so playlists, artist, albums etc show up. The moment you stop all options show up again. This is an issue exclusively to Porsche - all other VW/Audi etc. Do not have this issue. I have tried over and over, 3 dealers, also trying this on other new or loaner Macans. Not one could fix it. Additionally I have gone back and forth with an Apple CarPlay specialist to try to fix this issue as well as with a rep from Porsche NA. Porsche says it’s a safety feature which is complete bs. If it were, then my address book, navigation etc would have the same problem. If it really is a safety issue then Porsche’s own PSM system would have the same issue which it doesn’t. Porsche NA has been completely useless and will not admit this is a software glitch. For a $100,000 car I would expect more… Does anyone else have this problem? If so, can it be fixed?
Same thing here. Porsche says it’s for safety reasons. Total B/S as my Audi RS5 works perfectly. Tried itin a friends 2010 VW Golf, works perfectly. Spoke numerous times with Apple CarPlay tech support: Porsche software glitch. Porsche won’t fix it.
Amazing that Porsche can't get CarPlay to fill the entire screen when Subaru came out with a Starlink Infotainment System firmware update to allow full-screen on their vertical 11.6" screen.
we have two phones in the car and when we want to change the carplay from one to the other it is a serious challenge. It is stubborn little bastard and does not want to switch to another carplay device. Any tips on that would be appreciated.
I have the same problem as Frank below. On the apple car play home screen the information on the right (so not from my phone) but the information that is the Porsche home screen used to show the song playing, nav and something else. Now it is only showing the navigation which is not useful because I have the navigation on my phone also showing. Is there a way to get that back to mirror my home screen
On the Apple CarPlay home screen on the right side with the app tiles, is there any ways we can configure what apps shows on there? Used to see the different app tiles on the right but now I only see navigation info, wondering if there is a way to configure it or if they update it to this way
That “home screen” is programmed to constantly change based on what your phone thinks will be most useful for you. Like if you are leaving work it will show you the route home. It will show you calendar events based off the time of the day and will also show common interests like coffee or food. There is no way to customize it on your own, it is all done with predictive software.
@@CarTechConnect Much appreciated for your reply. This make sense but I still find it a bit odd why there in an option to edit the "widget info screen" in the app home screen, which I assume controls the types of apps that can be shown on here. Right now for me it always shows the GPS screen and when using Google Map in CarPlay for direction, the built in GPS detail screen always shows up here, which is not useful at all. Curious to see how they set this predictive software, I couldn't find anything on their website
if I connect my iPhone with apple CarPlay after a while I don’t have internet on my phone anymore because WiFi of the phone gets connected to the car. Do you have this problem to
What’s the version of the PCM. I can’t make it connect wirelessly on my macan delivered in January 2019. Don’t have a Porsche dealer in my area. Any way I can update it? Thanks
I apologize I don't know the version as I was borrowing the Macan only for the video. I am almost certain starting with the 2019 MY CarPlay was an a-la-carte option. I found these videos, they might be helpful. www.porsche.com/usa/accessoriesandservices/porscheservice/vehicleinformation/imanuals/ Please check with your local Porsche dealership to discuss updates.
Ralph Ferrulli I didn’t confirm this with my own doing but as long as you allow Carplay to “allow while locked” it should connect automatically each time just like it does in the Audi MMI touch systems. You will also need to make sure wifi and Bluetooth are both turned on.
In the BMW X3 I drove, CarPlay automatically connected each time at startup. It’s perfect. Got used to it, and hated returning that rental. LOL. It’s seamless. Should be the same for Porsche. It mainly relies on WiFi instead of Bluetooth.
Can you? I read elsewhere that the diamond button only switches songs when using the built-in PCM; people claim that it won’t skip CarPlay tracks. So confused.
Car Play appears to be the default so every time you start the car, whatever was last playing on your phone appears on the screen. Is there any way to stop it being the default?
I'd rather not have a gimmick hardwired in my car, apple's already replaced standard wireless charging with magsafe and my having a pretty standard design my 996 now has a modern radio from Porsche. Look beyond silly gimicks cheaper cars try to lure you in with and look at real quality

what about showing a good phone mount with wireless charging? it's such a mess on the internet it would be great to see you try some mounts mate
The plastic protective cover is still on the glass. You can remove it for better resolution.

I guess it is kinda off topic but does anyone know of a good site to watch new tv shows online ?
@Damien Kashton Flixportal :)
@Oscar Bruce thank you, signed up and it seems to work :) Appreciate it!!
@Damien Kashton No problem :D
Having this car I cannot at all understand the choice to not integrate a „next song“ on the steering wheel. This is super annoying
Is it possible to see the google maps navigation map in the cockpit?

why would the wifi have anything to do with connecting apple car play?
Do you know how to show the street speed limit of the street that you are on to show up on the dash when not actually doing a route navigation?
I have the same question. It should appear somewhere in the right cluster

Tks bro. It’s quite easy to get your point. Btw may I know where the sim slot is?
Sim card slot is located near to that USB-C port connected to phone
Whuch macan is this one? Mine is 2020 model and I’m not getting car play option
That’s kinda weird, I can’t use wireless CarPlay on my 2020 panamera

Nicely explained. Thanks.

How can I get similar to your clock dashboard??
Was an option
Once the system syncs with phone for CarPlay Does it auto connect each time you shut/start the car? Or do u have to force the wireless Bluetooth?

Hello, I cannot connect the Apple CarPlay. he asks me to connect to a wifi
Thanks
Hi which country do you live in? Some country’s do not allow wireless Carplay.
Car Tech Connect I am in France
Reset your infotainment system, and unpair your iPhone from your car. Wireless Airplay uses WiFi, so there’s an issue with a WiFi setting somewhere.

I am in Singapore, does it allow?

I can’t switch song if I use CarPlay on my Macan 2020.

A porsche carplay thats worse than cheaper brands of cars thats just pathetic smh
Learn to say the brand name first.
you should edit out your mistakes. the video is so boring and too long. useful content is only 3 minute max.
Sorry you didn’t enjoy. Thanks for the advice and watching.
