I once was developing a business management software as a website and the amount of security concerns I was facing and solving was so great that one day I just realized that, while I was trying to prevent those, a hacker just tries to exploit them. We both use the exact same tools (languages, knowledges, softwares, documentation, etc) but with different goals in mind. So I feel like that a good roadmap is, if you want to learn how to hack websites, aim at learning to make websites, and then learn how to make them safe.

4:26 I am actually at the C++ part in the map. I started the same: HTML, then VBS, then .NET, then I started using PHP, then learned some JS and CSS, learned how to use MySQL(also to protect myself from SQLInjection), then I try to sql inject my site(learned a bit of it), then started to create Android Apps(of course in Java) and then C/C++, when I programmed my entire project. You are the best! Continue with what are you doing! Good luck!

Hey man, this video was exactly what I needed. I randomly watched one of your videos a while ago and then I got suggested other Computer Science and IT videos, and I'm getting into it. I still don't understand a quarter of the stuff people say in the tutorials I watch, but it keeps me inspired, for example, I just learned how to compile and run a simple c++ programm that i wrote, from the windows console, and that little thing blew my mind. I know it's a long way but that's fine for me. Next year I'll go to University, I'll study Computer Engineering and I'll keep working on my own in a parallel way, watching tutorials, following guides, reading books and maybe, one day, I'll be able to watch and fully understand all the stuff you say in your videos xd.

This is a good video, I get asked this a lot as a programmer but I believe they often get frustrated about the same things. However the one common difference between me and them is the drive. They claim that they want to make games and while I'm actually doing that and try to teach them, all they do is play games. They don't understand how windy it is and honestly you explained it a lot better than I ever could have. I'll forward this video to anyone that asks me this question again. Thanks man, always great to see a video every now and again that is genuine.

A well thought out and all round brilliant video that will hopefully explain to those looking for the quick fix that there isn't one. People need to realise that hacking isn't like what's shown on TV or in movies and it actually requires hard work and dedication. Hacking is about exploring and being inquisitive to learn why things do the things that they do, so if they don't want to learn that sort of stuff then maybe hacking isn't for them.

This was the perfect explanation. Many people say 'there is no straight path bla bla' but never say what it actually is. When you drew the path (the web), I could relate a lot to my programming history the past 5 years. And how everything was connected in a way like that. Thank you so much, you made it much clearer to me that my path is not "just trying to tag along" but that it's "one of the ways to go". You are great!

Honestly while researching what to do to learn about coding, this is the best "tutorial" I've seen so far. First I wanted to learn how to program robotics or make a simple game. From there people told me that I should code, so i figured maybe I should start C#, but they told me to learn something simple like python. Now here I am learning python, learning if, else and elif statements. I guess this is the first step of many to becoming a programmer, or ethical hacker, or maybe even game dev. So yeah maybe it is more a learn as you go experience, and you kno what? I'm kinda having fun with it!

  • @choosetolivefree

Pretty standard for people that don't know anything to make hacking tutorial videos. I've noticed the ones who don't really know anything are always the ones doing tutorials. The ones who really know aren't trying to teach you. This is why you will never learn to be a hacker on RUclips. You have to do it the same way every legit hackers learns, trial and error.

I've always been interested in hacking, but I only recently (due to your videos, and some malware reverse-engineering videos) got REALLY interested in it. I've gone from being really interested in security and hacking prevention, to attempting some exploits to learn from them and trying to hack my own applications instead of just applying security layers, security patches and sanitizing input.
I've been programming as a hobby (and partly as a freelancer) for quite a long time, but when I saw your video I noticed that my interest in hacking actually made me a better programmer. I realized that for the past two years, I've constantly thought about "what could go wrong? How can I make this more secure?" whenever I've programmed an application. While this does mean it takes painstakingly long for me to complete any project, it also mean that I've developed a sense of what might be vulnerable in an application developed by a lazy dev.
Your videos have really inspired me, and I've actually started doing some CTF challenges in order to learn more from this. Thanks! :D

    Some tips:
1)Dont learn in a systematic way such as reading book for knowledge. Also most hacking things in book already outdated.
    2) learn how to ask urself question. And solve it by finding simple answer that YOU can understand. May take a while, use "passion" to accelerate the process("in the moment").
    3) follow current meta game. Now is kali linux.
    4) learn to consolidate ur knowledges and learn to see similarty.
    5) learn hacker mind set. Not their knowledge. Hacking knowledge is just a by product of hacking...
    6) dont limit hacking to just computers...
    7) change your negative belief system. REDEFINE your road block as turning point full of excitement. If you read this far, you know you are half way to be a hacker. Have fun ^_^
