That, or her specific magic, related to memories, carried her memories over into each loop, since it the timer twirler's magic wasn't specifically targeting her memories, unlike when Wallflower used the Memory Stone directly on her
Equestrian magic often seems influenced by your emotions or the intent in your heart. If the time loop only worked for the person who pressed the device, only one band member would reset, since only one person is pressing it. However they BOTH want to re-do the day, so they both got pulled back together. Sunset, during what was probably the first activation, was wishing very hard that she could re-do her day. I think her feelings were enough to bring her on board, especially since she was pretty close to them when they first pressed it. After that, any time the button was pressed it made her reset too, because she made herself part of the loop that was established.
I dunno its weird when u think about it cause she stopped wanting to redo it after she actually got to see the concert so it should have stopped for her there...and it cant exactly be proximity cause they seemed to reset it in the middle of the concert like they both contradict each other
What someone suggested when I asked the same question was that it had to do with Sunset's gemstone - it lets her see others' memories, so maybe it's what allowed her to keep her own memories.

I thought it was because Sunset is from Equestria and is still running on Equestrian time, which as far as we know was still running normally despite the loop in the human world.
That actually is a pretty good idea for why Sunset wasn't affected. I mean as far as we know time distortions in one dimension doesn't mean other dimensions will be affected by it

This Equestria Girls special was good, I liked it. Granted there were a few things that I didn’t necessarily care for, but its plot still had me interested. My favorite things about this special are the return of the Sirens (a pity that they weren’t around for long) and Post Crush’s song.
I love this special because not only is the episode amazing, but it caused theories why she didn't get affected. And they all make sense, also the Dazzlings weren't the bad guys, they actually helped. Why be evil when all they desire is attention and to be adored
Funfact: This was based on a Choose your Own Adventure Book.....in which there were multiple Red Herrings (one was Trixie even XD) and the time loop was at LEAST a year
I love how in 17:31 you can notice Post Crush already commited a little mistake while playing, like some kind of foreshadowing (Also I guess Sunset wasn't affected by the timeloop bc her powers are related to the memory, seeing other people memories, maybe that gave her some kind of immunity about the timeloop)
I saw Wallflower Blush. This time it weren't the Dazzlings causing trouble, it was those two singer girls. If the Dazzlings are travelling in that tour van, and one day arrive to Canterlot High, they can discover the leaking magic from the portal. Sonata said, they call dibs on Equestrian magic, so they can get a power up from the portal's magic. But if that's the case, it has to be on All Hallow's Eve. According to the medieval belief magic is on it's greatest power on Halloween, so that could effect the leaking magic from the portal and the HuMane sevens geodes. If the Dazzlings absorb that powerful magic, it could transform them into more terrifying monsters, and if they return to Equestria they could do serious havoc. And if the magic enchants objects that belong to Snips and Snails it could transform them into winged freaks like the first time, and then they will start messing up people's lives in the human world. Two threats at once! That's a good idea for a Halloween EQG special. We need to see more of the Dazzlings, and a special where Canter Zoom is going to give Juniper another chance. Everyone deserves a second chance, Sunset should know.

So, by her very nature, she would be at least partially immune to it. On top of that, Sunset was present when the magic was initiated, although at the edge of the ripple effect, she was still affected like the Crush duo.
A bad case of deja vu. Harold Ramis and Bill Murray attempted a comedy flick like this back in 1993. At least whatever insensitive or selfish action Sunset did towards her friends won't be remembered by any of them the next day. EDIT: I also like the cameos of past EQG characters. The French chef from the cruise ship, Wallflower Blush, and topping it off with the Dazzlings? Happy Early Birthday to me!

Only times you'll see him more is the Choose The Ending shorts. 7:35 ya know, the neon garden is actually a really bad idea. Neon light is something you should NOT be exposed to for long periods in close quarters and being lost in a maze of neon just spells disaster to me. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if multiple people have been found unconscious and severely dehydrated in there. 16:24 while the way she goes about it is definitely not the best, it is understandable why Sunset outright tried to avoid Pinkie here... though why Pinkie gave up and assumed Sunset was ditching her (which she technically wasn't, just avoiding her so she could guarentee a spot) and didn't consider the fact she'd simply lost sight of Sunset and just try meet up during Post Crush is the part where it *is* kinda forced tension, just so they could make a Parrty of One moment for Pinkie later. And I'm certainly not defending Sunset being so oblivious when she gets back to camp. That was just the writers making her OOC selfish there. 25:22 I do like how Sci-Twi is just normal while the others act like they know what they're talking about. A nice detail to remind everyone she wasn't present for that incident, so doesn't understand how big it is that The Dazzlings are back. 25:45 but... why? You DO remember who The Dazzlings are. Why are you...? Ya know what? It's Snips and Snails. In EQG they're dumb. I should just accept it as that and move on. 30:38 and thus they finally show how Sunset's memory viewing powers work. She sees everything, even if it's days worth of memory, all at once. Much less awkward than her holding onto someone for several minutes and them just standing there concerned why she's frozen in place with glowing white eyes. 30:49 also confirmation the Sirens never realized there was a portal to Equestria right at the school they could've easily gone through... unless the spell Star Swirl used to banish them actually magically locked them out of Equestria, meaning they'd just bounce off the portal instead of going through it. 38:24 why Sunset always remembered each timeloop, it could partly be because she wished for a redo the first time the Time Twirler was activated, meaning she was thinking the same as Post Crush about getting a second chance at the day while being nearby, so unintentionally caused herself to get caught in the loop with them... but I personally think it's because of Sunset's Memory Viewing powers. The Time Twirler's magic wasn't specifically targeting her like when Wallflower used the Memory Stone directly on Sunset, so her power was making her memories of each loop carry over to the next. 40:42 You might think, since they looped AFTER Sunset gave that cat to the Security Guard, he is worse off because he no longer has his Mr. Kitty at the end of the special, but in the Let It Rain music video you see him in the crowd with a cat, so maybe Sunset went back after they broke the loop and gave him a cat as thanks for his help
Something tells me because sunset isn't originally from their world and is basically already full of equestrian magic because she's the original source of it that she's sometimes completely immune to it's effects. Of course that's just a theory. A pony theory.

The sirens part in this was pretty disappointing and their music video made it seem like they changed mentally as well but they clearly didnt they just begrudgingly accept it which isnt the same thing. Plus aside from the moral they really didnt need to be there so it was really disappointing
Years later I still don't understand that mentality. We got a new Sirens song, and even got to see them one last time, which Hasbro didn't have to do at all. And they were even indirectly helpful. I don't understand why people are disappointed. It's hype to see them at all! And having them be villains again would kinda be repetitive I feel. While having them randomly fully reformed would be weird
