    Also I think the tweeter decoupled outside of the cabinet containing the woofer really helps with diffusion and isolates it from bass/mids sound & vibration.

      The idea is nice but the sound is very mediocre, that's one of the main culprits of these designs, the tweeter sounding detached from the other drivers. Like clearly having another unit playing on top of everything. The big models are the worst in that regard, the 805 is decent and probably the best of the bunch if you don't need thunderous bass.

    Very interesting I don't follow how the wires Connect to the driver Assembly area. Great job. I have six cities in my house. I actually have one that was attached to a centre speaker from 25 years ago.

    Hi, I have the one you set aside and the tube is attached in different way (or so it seems) does it also twist off?

      I have the same problem. The tube don't move. Please, say to me! Did you move it or not?

      Hello, I watch this video about disassembly tweeter B&W N803. I did and it worked. However, you should have attention and care with the aluminum hat... It is very fragile. Nothing the iron e steel objects close by. There is the magnetic attraction that move the devices fast and strong straight to hat.

    Nice work, but how can I check whether or when I need to replace the ferofluorid? This is the case with many tweeters, I don't know whether it is also the case with B&W, but can I find out?

      That's something I've never done with these. I guess you could send them in for service, or open them up yourself, but they're not really a serviceable item.

    I’m looking for a replacement grill for n803 tweeter but have no luck sourcing one. Would it be possible to guide me to the right direction? The part number is ZG01015

    Would be interested to see how the 800 series compares to 600?

    • @thehilltopworkshop
      @thehilltopworkshop  Год назад +2

      600 series were always excellent value for money. I still tell people today that if they see a pair of 602 S3 available, they should jump at them.
      They were of course, no match for the 800 series though.

    Good video. How to replace the diaphragm for 805s (same as the Nautilus tweeter)? Is it possible to buy only the diaphragm? Have just change tweeters on my 805s. Everything seems good but after test play and I notice a dent on the diaphragm. Seems like it dent it selvf only by playing music (Pink Floyd)!! How is this possible?

    Thanks, interesting and informative. Is it too hard to replace the voice coil, it seems an awful waste?

    • @thehilltopworkshop
      @thehilltopworkshop  4 года назад +1

      Can definitely source one if I ever need it, but the whole tweeter assembly was replaced under warranty, from memory. Was several years ago.

    What is your thoughts on this teeter compared to the carbon dome tweeter on the 700 series such as the 705?

      Unfortunately I haven't heard them myself, so I can't really offer an opinion. 👍

    It's great to see a qualified audio professional Aussie on RUclips..!
    You know I was wondering if I could ask for some advice?
    I've got a pair of b&w matrix2 series 2 speakers which are still in excellent condition, bar the woofers. I wasn't sure whether it was the woofer driver or the crossover or the voice coil as I'm just an average Joe who likes decent sounds. But I took the chance and replaced the woofers with these drivers called Dynavox 200, as their advice. But this sounds terrible and it sounds nothing like the original, not even close..! I just can't believe they would recommend that garbage!
    Can you suggest some other options to replace the woofers driver chassis for my b&w matrix2?
    I really appreciate it..!
    Keep those videos coming

      Hey! Thanks for the comment, and I'd be happy to help if I can.
      With something like that, it would be incredibly difficult to find a driver with the same sonic signature. Even for a woofer.
      If you still have the original drivers, you can get them repaired. Same with the crossovers, if there's a fault with them.
      Personally, I'd use Queensland Speaker Repairs, but I'm not sure where you're located. 👍👍

      @thehilltopworkshop I think the problem was the woofers, because the sound came back, just not what I had hoped for, in fact it was horrible..!
      Yes, I kept the originals for both speakers.
      I'm not sure exactly what is broken, whether it's the diaphragm or the voice coils etc..?
      I live in Sydney.
      And thanks for replying..!

    How do you remove the glossy tweeter from the speaker cabinet without snapping the plastic attachment?

    • @thehilltopworkshop
      @thehilltopworkshop  4 года назад +3

      Remove the mid/bass driver and then you can reach the tabs from underneath.

      @@gottpwnd No. The other one has a stud with a nut on it, but is it accessible via the same way.

    Le 702 S hanno un tweeter al carbonio, la serie 8 al diamante. Hanno un
    funzionamento simile? Mi pare siano entrambi Nautilus..........

    Excuse me aren't the pods made out of a solid body of aluminum thars been milled down, I own 705 s2 and it's 100% aluminum, i definitely would not have bought it if plastic.

      These are Nautilus series from the original Nautilus range, which are nearly 25 years old.
      Newer ranges use billet aluminium.
