Same here. I have a Razer Abyssus, I think. It was the cheapest Razer mouse in my area in June 2012 when I bought it. I was pretty poor back then, but I wanted to see if a gamer mouse is actually worth the 3-6x price tag of a cheapo standard mouse. Almost 9 years later, I am super happy with it. If it dies the next minute, I'm was still very happy. The cheapo mice I mentioned earlier not only were worse in day-to-day use, but would usually last only 1-2 years. So money-wise I fully got the better deal. With a better mouse. And because it's wired, I also spend $0 in batteries, which, over 9 years of use, would have added a bit. It's not/was perfect though. The scroll is not perfect, though weirdly is was worse in the first years, now is pretty ok. Late last year I had to open it for the first time, because the left click wasn't registering normally, I had to push close to the top margin to work, and a bit harder. I guess that some gunk got there, but I'm not sure. The interior was surprinsingly clean, given that I used it almost always in pretty dirty environments. And itself, on the top part (which I don't know of what is composed, seems both plastic and rubber) is quite dirty and I don't know how to properly clean it. Anyway, TL: DR; it's still fully functioning after 8.5 years of literally daily use and no special care to it. I guess one thing going for it that I don't have the habit of smashing the mouse on the desk when I get pawned, but other than that, it was used continously.

@Relowh 1000hz is widely used in most of the "gamer" mice these days, and it is kind of a nice number, as it is 1ms in response time... 8k hz is 0.125ms and is kind of "too much" for todays standard or even high-end cpus... Newer game engines and potentially updates to existing ones should be an easy and quick fix... It just has to become a thing first, and it will happen overnight :)
@@brianchen5858 then they talk about razer quality, when the g pro been having double clicks for the longest time now, the super light has mouse 1&2 wobble

thing is tho, every polling of input during a frame is mostly wasted as the game will only take the last polled value of input and calculates the delta from the last frame. So you can have 500 polls/frame but you only end up actually using 1 per frame anyway. That being said, if your polling is too sparse it can happen that a frame doesn't actually get a polled delta and you effectively miss an input on the frame, but this is only a possible issue if playing above 250hz or so, and at that point the actual frame time is so low the missed input on a frame is negligible. An issue that never gets talked about with mice like these is the CPU load you get from the extra polling. With my 1khz mouse I get an extra 15% CPU utilization while moving the mouse on an r7 2700. turn it down to 250hz and it's down to 2-3%. For my partners machine we had to hard set her mouse to 250hz with some hacky russian software as the cpu couldn't cope with 1khz while gaming (i5 6500). 8khz would probably murder you cpu performance on mid range hardware. On a day to day I run 500 on my mouse and 250 in my keyboard.
"can razor make a mouse that I actually want to use?" That's about as high as a chance as Logitech making a gaming mouse that doesn't have the click registers go out after 6 months.
@Andrew Hunt If you’re talking about the micro switches then you can replace wih made in japan ones that lasts longer. I used Omron d2f (not d2fc which is chinese)
You had to lower your sensitivity when you were using the Viper because you usually use a Logitech Hero sensor, which does not report DPI at the same resolution as other mice. Every 8 dots on the Logitech mouse approximates to 9 dots on most other mice, so to get the same sensitivity you have to lower either your dpi or in game sensitivities to ~88% of what you normally use. This is why Shroud and some others when they first moved to the GPW set their dpi to 450 or 900, so that it would feel like the 400/800 they were comfortable with.
I think he's a little confused. He called Razer build quality a compromise. I feel like I could drop my deathadder chroma on a rock from my second story window and it would live to tell the tale.
Exaclty i have razer arctosa from 2012 and it survived 20k+ hours of abuse from playing cod4 and wow and it still functions wery well i have ornata chroma now and its amazing razer mice and keyboards lasts forever and people that are shitting on build quallity are the people that never had a razer stuff and just repeating things things that they heard from other idiots who never tried razer alltough their controller is trash and headphones will die bcs cable will break but mice and keyboard are supreme
Mouse weight, mouse feet and mouse pad factor a lot into your sensitivity - different mice and mat will feel like different sens although no software settings changed.
The only thing that sucks is the fact that most razer mice after 2016 support 8K polling rate. The hardware and abilities are there but they are not unlocked. Even a Deathadder Elite will be able to dish out that polling rate, let alone the normal Viper or Deathadder v2.
I feel like comparing this mouse to something like a g pro is unfair because the 8k is 80 dollars and the g pro is 170 dollars and the 8k still holds up pretty well
one can only dream of having so many high end monitors, that they'd have to be labeled with masking tape indicating refresh rate and resolution just to know which is which
really shame if he considers viper a bad mouse or razer in general because "durability" entire myth got born because of articles not giving context for data, like saying "death adder has 100k returns while g pro only 20k!" and not mentioning that death adder or any other mouse has 10x the sales giving it better percentage reliability... edit: hell even Zy considers viper a top spot contender...
yeahh... these kinds of videos have to be rendered at least at 60fps, i know it takes a lot of additional space but we're left with no visual clearance of the differences mentioned and it has happenned more frequently
Hand on a 8k week ago. So far, r6 siege feels smoother. On 240hz monitor, it's noticeably smoother then 1000hz polling rate. I wouldn't recommend monitor that's lower than 240hz to use 8k polling rate, because it's unnoticeable. Pro: Very fast response keys and reaction to hand movements, keys are not wobbly as the viper wired. Con: the wire is stiffer and heavier than viper wired. Hope these info would help.

"can razor make a mouse that I actually want to use?"
That's about as high as a chance as Logitech making a gaming mouse that doesn't have the click registers go out after 6 months.
Or scrolls that get busted after a few months too. Dunno why he would compare it to Logitech when the only thing they have going for them is good RMA.
@Andrew Hunt If you’re talking about the micro switches then you can replace wih made in japan ones that lasts longer. I used Omron d2f (not d2fc which is chinese)
😂 especially after so intense clicks 6 months seems way better
Given 2 years of warranty from logi
dont know man. I have never had issues with Logitech. I am 36 and using Logitech for about 14 years and all of them died after the warranty period.
@@VES. The issues with micro switch happens with all brands cause they cheap out on the switch or they just wear out since it's a thin copper spring.
i've watched enough 5-minute crafts videos on facebook that i'm starting to hate the BGM here lol
me: gets viper mini
few months later: viper 8k
me: WHAT is the meaning of this
Well if the Viper mini is better sized for you and more comfortable then it's better even with 1000Hz.
that intro was amazing
The background music makes me want to test how games preform on various graphics cards
In cheap prebuilts especially.
the viper is built pretty well from what I've heard, also the mini is based and 8k polling rate does seem Pog. will wait though
As a HUGE lover of Siege, it makes me very happy to see David testing this on the game I'd be interested in getting this mouse for
David is cleaver and almost too energetic. 😂 . Awesome guy.
David's videos are my favorite. I need MORE!
No he isn't. Razer isn't the best but it isn't the worst either. They have plenty of QC issues.
i've had the razer orobouros for over 8 years now and only just found out my polling was on 500 ..... instead of 1000
LTT writers putting 69 and 420: "I've achieved comedy"
Mouse weight, mouse feet and mouse pad factor a lot into your sensitivity - different mice and mat will feel like different sens although no software settings changed.
fr tho. A good mousepad can improve your experience a ton
@@maxx.v1110 100% agree. I used to use a free one but it cause so much tracking issues then I realized
Love the enthusiasm on this guy so much.
I just find out to have my mouse at 125 instead of 1000 polling rate, jees, thank you this was so helpfull
When your mouse has a higher resolution than your monitor.
My 2016 Razer Deathadder is still working perfectly fine.
You would literally not be able to tell a difference between 1000hz and 8000hz in a blind test lmao
I wish the review went deeper into the new switches. Also loading up a game that supported 8K polling rate would have been nice.
This is the very first time I heard that Razer is having bad build quality. It definitely does not reflect my experience with Razer.
The only thing that sucks is the fact that most razer mice after 2016 support 8K polling rate. The hardware and abilities are there but they are not unlocked.
Even a Deathadder Elite will be able to dish out that polling rate, let alone the normal Viper or Deathadder v2.
me, still using my Deathadder I got 9 years ago.
I bought the v2 last year and like it :)
Holy crap it still works?! I've had 3 Deathadders over the years because they lasted about 1 year. I eventually just switched to logitech.
@@CasepbX maybe it depends on how they’re used
If it ain’t broke...
I feel like comparing this mouse to something like a g pro is unfair because the 8k is 80 dollars and the g pro is 170 dollars and the 8k still holds up pretty well
Cool!! I'll stick with my G502 though...
It is still the king I bought one last week and o boy am I glad
Which one? Hero or Lightspeed? Love em anyways been using a Hero for... 2 yrs now wow how time passes...
@@sedixmrboss5625 I have the spectrum :)
@@azeezkorede7012 Hoooly man the ultamate 502 nice!!
G502 is a shit mouse
I have my razer mouse for 4 years now...... not a single problem and i love it!
when you think your there the 3'd view but there are 26 comments
Who cares?
"the 3'd view" lmao
one can only dream of having so many high end monitors, that they'd have to be labeled with masking tape indicating refresh rate and resolution just to know which is which
"You're probably using 1000hz right now." *Laughs in 2000hz polling rate*
Fake
@@re4796 you just watched a video about a mouse that has an 8k polling rate and say that 2k is fake. Aight.
@@CaptainNomae you're probably using the wireless corsair mouse that repeats the same poll twice, its fake 2khz
I like the visual and audio production changes to today's LTT and Short Circuit videos. 🥰
He sounds like he's dehydrated.
*SMACK*
Look at this incredible polling rate!
He's become "the mouse reviewing" staff of LMG...
really shame if he considers viper a bad mouse or razer in general because "durability"
entire myth got born because of articles not giving context for data, like saying "death adder has 100k returns while g pro only 20k!" and not mentioning that death adder or any other mouse has 10x the sales giving it better percentage reliability...
edit: hell even Zy considers viper a top spot contender...
This guy moves too much, like he drank 10 cups of coffee
yeahh... these kinds of videos have to be rendered at least at 60fps, i know it takes a lot of additional space but we're left with no visual clearance of the differences mentioned and it has happenned more frequently
The price would be perfect if there wasn't a decimal
But why are you comparing it to 125hz instead of 1khz?
That intro was a lot (in a good way tho)
The lawnmower 3.0 was clearly the right sponsor for an episode sooo smooth
I prefer R.A.T mice.

Bot
Good message, but this is just a likes-farming bot.
Positive comment for RUclips algorithm
No bullshit, if your monitor is not the same or above the pooling rate it's impossible to see or feel any difference
You're right bro, next time they'll get a 1000hz monitor.
watching on my 144p mouse
You should be watching this on the raspberry pi 4 Keyboard, it’s more powerful
Really helpful explanation of polling rate
