    Hi Antonio’s! Thank you so much for your videos. I find them so helpful and enjoyable to watch, especially when you show your pallet! I’m trying to learn iconography pretty much on my own, but I have a hard time finding the right color mixtures. I greatly appreciate when you say what colors you use in each stage! On the icon I’m working on , Panagia Glikofilousa, I lost a lot of time trying to find the right colors and believe me, I don’t have very much time to lose. Now I’m very nervous about working on Panagia’s beautiful face. I notice there are so many slightly different hues of proplasmo, 1st sarka, etc. others use lazoura, others don’t. I’ve decided just to follow your work which I like the most. I really wish I could take your on line course, but with my time schedule it’s very difficult. Thank you so much for your time and effort, I really appreciate it. Please, continue making videos. Καλή δύναμη!!!

    thank you so much for sharing the beautiful icons with us…….you make it look so easy, I hope one day it will be easier for me…….I just finished my gold halos with the red paint outline. It was really hard…….the gold didn’t behave😉 and neither did the compass for the outline paint. It kind of looks ok, but a little messy. I see I can go back and straightened it out with background paint? Hopefully practice will help…..at 85 I dont think I have as many years to practice s you did…….but I will keep trying!!!thank you again, you inspire us and really explain very well 😇. Pat

In the past i was worried about a mistake or a thicker line then i want. Every stage can reverse. Don't worry you say and that gives me the courage to do on and on. Thanks from Belgium.

    Hi Antonis, Why is Mary's mantle sometimes blue, other times it's brown or red? Is the color linked to particular meanings or is it a choice of the iconographer? Thanks for the video, very interesting and useful

    • @PaintingtheLight
      @PaintingtheLight 3 года назад +1

      Hi Lia... Thanks for the question. I believe that the holy maforion of Virgin Mary should be a dark red/brown or dark purple. In my opinion this is up to the taste of the iconographer without any symbolism for the color, unlike common belief. 😊😊

    Although a practicing Catholic, i prefer Byzantine tradition for Christian art. In fact i seem in a minority on disliking the Sistine Chapel that is full of nakedness and masculine women. My brother and i visited Athens and saw beautiful Byzantine iconography at a museum. The Catholic Church's popes regularly Greek artists to live in Rome before our tragic split in 1054.
