One big flaw in this review is that you used a inferior charger brick that was severely underpowered. It needs 2.4Amps at 15W and the brick u had was likely 5w at 1.5A. with a 15w 2.5A charger this things blows the magic smoke!
It is not actually advisable to put ice on the water it will only make the water density high ang the ultrasonic mister will not dispers the mist out porperly, put miniral water on it only for cleaner water evaporating in your room, it will actually cool a closed room using another standard fan blowing underneath of it. Doing a research before using it actually helps,

Theres no ice needed for cooling, normal water is enough, actually room temperature water cools better cause it vaporizes faster. Same effect when throw hot water in the air at minus 50 degree celsius for example in Siberia..it immediately turns into snow. If you do the same with cold water it falls down as water. I bought it for 5 bugs here in Thailand.

If you use it outdoors, you’ll be fine. There’s not gonna be any mold grown anywhere, but any moisture indoors can’t cause mold grow

I believe you have to keep this one plugged in. It has a USB cord and you’ll need your own block.
