We were at Voyageur for the first time a few weeks after you were, site 81. We live in Ottawa so it wasn't a bad drive. Enjoyed it and would consider going back. On a rain day we drove into Hawkesbury and had a great BBQ lunch at Moonshine BBQ. Highly recommend it! We also camped at Fitzroy this year, but mid July (sunny and hot!) Looking forward to seeing Bonnechere as we were just there last weekend. Thanks for sharing your insight. We love your videos!

I enjoy the hastened travel treks at the beginning of the vids.
Now you just have to go back to all the parks in Season 1 & 2 and do those again to employ the “proper” Coles Camper Rating System.
    😁👍🏼

It's on my plans to go to Voyageur. This video really helped me, specially when you mentioned about Portage being the site with most privacy. Too bad it was not sunny... Thanks for the video and I'm looking forward to the next one. Hopefully the forecast will be accurate.

Love watching your series each season. One thing I’d love to hear about in your Coles Notes is how easy the parks are to navigate with a travel trailer or RV. There are some parks which still rate sites as being large enough but the roads are too narrow and the trees on each corner make turning impossible. It makes us nervous when trying new parks. We got stuck in Turkey Point last week, wedged against a tree on a corner because we had only one chance to line it up perfectly and just missed it! All turned out well but it was sure stressful. If we had known ahead of time, we sure wouldn’t have booked any of those sites.

I agree. Bonnechere was like this for us (26’ trailer). We fit fine on the site but navigating the roads was tight. It was a nice little park but I probably wouldn’t go back for that reason.

We watched this video on our TV after coming back from our long family vacation to the UK and a hike through a national park of Pakistan, of all the places haha.
Now, we will have to work our way backwards to your earlier video that we may have missed 🙂

Wow, that sounds like an awesome family vacation. Our little Ontario videos probably pale in comparison to the trip you've just been on.

@@CampingwiththeColes Actually, we wanted to be back home - Ontario, real quick. Its like 'No place like home'. Your videos are superb. We are addicted to them as they provide all the information.

Thx for the review this will be helpful when planning a Nova Scotia trip. We are thinking of using Voyageur as a jump off point to New Brunswick and then further east.

Love your series. My wife and I are avid campers, hikers and love watching you guys explore the same places we have enjoyed. We have recently bought kayaks and can’t wait to return to sites that we can revisit with the kayaks. Have you ever been to Alora Gorge? It’s a great place to hike, explore, camp and swim etc. keep up the reviews. Thanks

Thanks for watching. You'll get a whole new perspective on a park when you get a chance to travel around by water. We've camped at Elora Gorge many years ago. It's very close to where we live but for some reason we haven't been back in a while. We may have to remedy that next year. Happy camping!

I know what you mean about the rain, we where 11 nights at Rockpoint this year with quite a bit of rain, too much mud

The old fashioned see-saw in the playground shown at 7:06 has since been removed - I know because yesterday I was there and went to show it to my daughter - as a fascinating / dangerous / fun relic of the past - but it was gone. Too bad! hehe. Also note there is feral apple trees spread throughout Portage campground (and maybe elsewhere). Thanks!

I have never really considered parks that far to the east - mostly because of the drive through T.O. Cheryl's loo review has me a little hesitant, but it is a possibility. Still a tent camper so closeness to flush toilets and the occasional pit/vault is very much taken into consideration. One of my trips this past summer we did a yurt - made me consider never setting up another tent. Looking forward to the rest of your reviews.

We hate the drive through Toronto so when we go that way we love to hit a few parks to make it worthwhile.

Oh...where did you get your 17 North shirt! I love it. Great video by the way. It looks like a lovely park, except for the loo review. lol

      @CampingwiththeColes  2 года назад +1

We got the 17 North shirt from the Voyageurs Lodge which is up near Pancake Bay PP. It's closed now for the season. I think you can only buy them from the actual store, not online.

Certainly the hose threading is required for those with fancy rvs that only can fill the freshwater tank with a threaded hose.

Fitzroy is a lot nicer park. I had a real poor experience at Voyager. No picnic table (neighbour had 2). Park staff did nothing when I complained about that nor the fires going during a fire ban. Not many parks that I would not recommend but this is one.

Hi there Coles, love your reviews and feel safety on the water should be a must. may ask your friends to wear flotation devices too as you are advertising water safety. Just my two cents.

I understand what you're saying, however they are adults and make their own decisions. It's not like they're getting paid to be in our videos. They are abiding by the law by having their PFDs with them. The law doesn't require PFDs to be worn. I agree it's much better to be wearing them but it's their decision. Over the years we've tried to be more responsible by trying to set a good example by wearing PFDs on the water and bicycle helmets when cycling. Those are things we didn't always do and you can see that in our earlier videos. Hopefully they'll evolve and choose to set a better example themselves. Thanks for your input. Happy camping!

The first time my wife and I went camping over 20 years ago, it was to Voyageur. While enjoying the campfire, we heard (and saw) a skunk 🦨rummaging around our tent! A very quick lesson that packing up food after dinner means store food into the car, not the tent! 😅

We did 14 parks this year and are planning on even more next season. I'm hoping you do a video on insights regarding reservations. We tried to get into alot of parks in Southern Ontario that were all booked. Difficult to plan a vacation.

That's exactly right! Good catch. The French language is not my friend. I was pronouncing it out-oasis but didn't think that would be right. Thanks for letting me know the correct pronunciation.
