U don’t need socks, shirts, pants, hats, belts, shoes, none of that. Not even soap or shampoo or toothpaste or toothbrush. Maybe some lotion but u can always buy anything extra that u need when they send u to the BX.

Yes, I was able to keep all my stuff. Majority of it was kept in a closet and if I needed extras of anything I was allowed to go in the closet and retrieve it.
You can’t wear make up, you can bring it for pictures and that’s if they allow you to luckily I was allowed to. And they don’t let you wear fake lashes for the pictures, just bring mascara.
Sure, after you graduate, your family can visit you. They can also send you stuff while you're in basic training, except food. They can't come up to where you sleep, but they can bring an extra bag when they come for your graduation. You'll need to swap out a bag because you can't bring too much to tech school. The rules for visitors at tech school vary depending on the location.
I lifted weights. I didn’t do any cardio and that’s what I had to get used to that side of exercise basic but it was pretty easy for me given that I am athletic.

Hey! Were your braids able to last you thru basic? I leave for bmt in two weeks and idk if I should just wear my natural hair or get knotless braids. Also I keep getting mixed answers on whether I can actually wear them into bmt.
What did your recruiter say? It’s best to always listen them since they are supposed to get you prepared of the ins and outs and the dos and don’t s. If they say it’s ok but it’s not you won’t be held at fault so listen to them
Recruiters lie for a paycheck, it’s best to listen to someone who’s already been in and to answer your question @Tonyaajohnson yes, you can wear braids , I recommend small, knotless braids like the one I did I had mine, but length, and I was able to put mine in a proper bun in OCPs, and a high ponytail for PT gear Nobody questioned me , nobody said I’m out of regs. Go get them braids boo, and go have a one in a lifetime experience.
I’m glad! It was so much easier to maintain my hair that way. Other black girls who had their hair out was getting frustrated doing their natural hair EVERY MORNING. I felt so bad for them because nobody actually gives a straight answer about if we could have braids or not so I decided to be the guinea pig and go do it and now I’m gonna help out every other black girl to let them know to save their hair before going in❣️
I suggest bringing sweatpants since it will be cold. I went in the winter, so I brought appropriate length shorts , you will be issued PT clothes it’s just when you get there though, so don’t worry too much
They supply that for you, but on the first night bring a T-shirt and basketball shorts because you don’t get the PT gear immediately when you get there. They gonna talk to you guys in a big hall then after they’re gonna make you run WITH YOUR LUGGAGE to your room ,so pack light unless you can run that.
@@CynTie-o1f I packed pretty light. Basic hygiene necessities. Because I know we don’t have a ton of time to do a lot. 6 sports bras and 7 underwear, all black. Three pairs of socks. Chap stick. Rose water…. Hair ties, oil, and gel. Two notebooks. Pens andddd that’s it.

I never felt uncomfortable or unsafe and believe me I was very alert. There is so many briefings about SA can tell they have a no tolerance.
